Being tall doesn’t automatically make someone a better basketball player. I’m tall & I played on teams. Short players have some advantages too. Many of the short players were able to change direction before I could even slow my run.

This reminds me of 20 years ago when my daughters school put together a swimming team. The swim meet was held at a pool in the rougher end of downtown(we were in a small farm town swallowed up by the city, now calledthe burbs). My daughter's team came from fairly affluent families with backyard pools. Plus our town has a really nice indoor pool and rec center, plus a public outdoor pool in summer. We'll, our team cleaned up at the swim meet, but I couldn't help thinking it wasn't really fair competition, the city kids, some could barely swim, let alone compete. Having money or not having much in your childhood DOES make a difference..sadly.

I'm all for saying "size don't mean nothing" and that but in this case and this sport, when the whole teams have that much of a difference then it's utterly pointless, unless they're just happy to play but personally I would find it demoralising losing every game and by such a big difference

This is largely untrue. The real factor is availability of good quality food over multipe generations. Look at the massive increase in average height of the Japanese and Chinese since WWII.

I'm not a big man for my cohort. 6' 245lbs. I think I'm a tiny little baby man compared to my fellow people of northern MN. Norsemen. Then I see a picture of me along side others and apparently I'm a monster. You always have to see the picture to see the difference. I looked at a picture of my grandpa and myself from years ago when he was still alive and I look like a giant.

My uncle Dale played on the college team at CSC and my dad would tell me how uncle Dale, the shortest member, would play circles around the taller guys. And when uncle Dale became a teacher he coached basketball and showed the high school kids that he was still good even after losing a lung.

Muggsy Bogues played with the NBA's Charlotte Hornets from 1988 - 1997, and was 5'3", but that didn't hold him back - he once blocked a shot by the NY Knicks' 6'8" Patrick Ewing! There have been a number of other quite short players. 5'7", 133lb. Spud Webb even won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest against 6'8" Dominique Williams... So it wasn't all about height - these ladies were just outplayed by a large margin. As another commenter mentioned, kudos to them for getting those 19 points!

i´m not saying it´s senseless in general. In Germany, Bayreuth, there was a player in the team Steiner Optik named Bo Dukes with 1,68 m Hight, who was the magician in the field. It helps that it is also a national sport in the USA so attracts athletes. Not many people outside of the USA even televise basketball games so top athletes end up in other sports

The plant on the right gets substantially more sunlight than the plant on the left with the shadow of the shed but sure. (That being said, research does show that the gentle vibrations of normal, calm voices can stimulate plant growth. Google it.)

It is ridiculous and it’s really harmful for your self stem. The other day I saw a L T-shirt that was 1Cm wider than a xxs. Two trousers of the same size, one fit perfectly and the other didn’t pass my tights. I bought in the same store a xxL and a L that were the same size (of a normal L). I felt horrible when I needed a xxL until I measured it with the other shirt I got. It’s horrible for the self steam.

My grans village was the same. Our street had lovely small trees since the 1900s when it was built. Big enough to be pretty but small enough to not feel oppressive in a small street. Around the 60s people starting cutting them because they all wanted to look city like to pretend to be fancier. My family kept the trees or replanted them until I was a teenager. I had seen neighbours breaking the branches and trying to kill them. At the end they both died and my grandmas gave up.
