Most of us have a general idea of how we learn best. Some might retain information better by listening or taking notes, while others may prefer being hands-on with the topic or looking at tables and diagrams. When it comes down to it, there’s no one size fits all.
Today, visual learners are in luck because we’re looking at a subreddit called “Infographics,” a collection of data visualizations in various forms, like bar charts and heat maps. Full of colors and creative imagery, they’re both educational and fun. Scroll down to find the best ones that might change the way you see the world.

Evolution Of The Alphabet
The Average Cost Of Insulin By Country
The bottom few are the only acceptable ones on the list. Makes me embarrassed for Canada.
$2 to 4$ to produce, as it is written on the bottle. Add to this other costs: transportation, maintain cold chain during transport and stock, margin for producers/distributor/reseller (salaries, taxes...)... I think $8 to 10$ is probably fair EDIT: I just talk about the price, not the other problem: "who will pay for it"
Load More Replies...Yeah, but at least the USA doesn't have that goddamn socialist universal health care.
No, we just make sure to bankrupt our citizens entirely, then complain when they have to resort to Medicaid. Yep, sounds better to me. 🙄
Load More Replies...Important note: some of these countries the patient doesn't pay it themselves
It is disgusting that Americans have to choose between insulin or food in order to live.
The UK is incorrect. It's only in England where people pay prescription fees, and even then if a person has diabetes they get all of the prescriptions free of charge. (The prescription fee is what people in England pay to have medication dispensed. There is no fee for visiting the doctor, or for the medication.)
The graph doesn't state that the price is paid by the patient though. It is the price per vial, it can either by paid by the patient or by pharmacy/hospital for later distribution at no additional cost to the eventual user.
Load More Replies...I assume this is the cost that the labs are selling it because, in France, this is 100% covered by public health insurance.
In the UK it is free full stop. If you are an insulin dependant diabetic (IDD), then you are entitled to free prescriptions - even those not related to your diabetes.
Load More Replies...Something isn't right...Something isn- oh there's the USA at the very top. I thought it was just a red line for the label...
Prices are less to do with lack of govt regulation and more to do with a very bad piece of legislation. Professor Robin Feldman in her book "Drug Wars" explains how literally a one single piece of federal legislation is the cause for those prices and a simple repeal would cause prices to tumble to about $10 a vial, and would also crash prices of other medicines affected by this same legislation. The high cost is not due lack of govt regulation, but caused by bad govt regulation
Meds are ridiculously priced, I will agree. However--i don't know that the estimated cost is true either. I work in pharma and our raw materials are priced ridiculously as well. Just one example-- a 4 foot designated hose to transfer water was 675 USD. And that can only be used at one specific port AND has to be trashed and replaced every 3 months.
Just curious because I am not diabetic, but how long does a vial of insulin last? (I'm sure that depends on the individual?)
It depends on a person's insulin resistance, diet, and exercise.
Load More Replies...it's free in the UK, not $8. If you're a diabetic, type 1 or type 2, you get your prescriptions for free.
It really does depend. From a few days to a few weeks. Also bear in mind that there isn't just "insulin". There are many different types, and most people with diabetes use a combination of at least two, generally a long-acting one (basal) once or twice a day and a short-acting one (bolus) for meals or to correct high blood glucose.
Load More Replies...And in most countries patients don't even pay full price as it's covered by health insurance.
I do believe there is a bill in congress to lower the cap price of insulin, not great but it will help a little I hope
This should be updated regarding US ...a law was recently passed capping the price at $30....
"Eli Lilly in March instituted an automatic $35 monthly cap on out-of-pocket costs for those buying its insulin products at participating retail pharmacies. The uninsured are able to download the Lilly Insulin Value Program savings card, which allows them to get the medication for $35 a month."
Load More Replies...Lack of government regulation? The American government only allows three companies to produce insulin, and through campaign funding from those companies, block the licensing of other companies who want to produce it with restrictive regulations. Lack of regulation is not the problem, it's corruption resulting in extreme regulation.
Cos, yay, capitalism, if ya can't afford it, ya don't deserve to live.
I believe the Biden administration put a cap at $35 per month, which is still not great but better than $99.
This is just outragious! This is a life saving medicine from some can not live with out. I am one of those people.
I'm a type 1 diabetic and a few years ago there was an error with my insurance. The pharmacy quoted $2000 per vial; about 20 days supply. Thankfully, $30 cap for a months supply now. My insurance covers my insulin fully so I am fortunate.
in Brazil it is for FREE if you can afford it .. and still there is people who think we are like a "poor" country...
Shame on the US but then again, we know how disastrous their health system is!
In Ireland, Insulin is free for all citizens diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
A manufacturer of goods needs to make a profit, doubling or even triple of costs is within reason. Since the formula is free of patent or copyright it should be inexpensive. Those charging more are greedy abusers of the system.
And I am in the US. Drug manufacturers make deals with each country on how much to charge for each drug. Just about every country limits how much each drug would cost so that it is available to everyone. And to cover their losses elsewhere, they can charge whatever they want as we have no caps at all. So unless one is privileged, only available to the those with insurance and cash.
The Philippines is about $14 but they used to be an American colony.
The UK is misleading, all prescription medicines in Scotland are free. This probably means England so that's a whole different issue.
curious, if you were diabetic, how many vials would you use per day?
As a type 1 diabetic, this absolutely sickens me. I'm very very lucky, I live in the UK, I get not only my insulin free, but all my medications. I also get extra money from the government for having a lifetime condition. I have never had to limit my dosage and risk making myself very poorly. I'm truly grateful but I'm also massively embarrassed that it's not something I have ever had (or will ever have to) be concerned about. I'm so sorry for those who are not lucky enough to be in my situation. :0(
We can further separate the UK here. Scotland- £0. We don't pay for any prescriptions here anymore. Obviously we do through our taxes but what is the big deal in that when it helps everyone? I am on many medications, just got a new prescription for one months meds and for those 168 capsules I pay nothing.
Even though part of the UK, here in Scotland it's free, as are all medications.
NOT a list I want to see my country at the top of... The good news is for those unemployed and uninsured it is free. The rest of us hardworking tax payers? Suck it!!!
I dont know how but I someone missed america on top. Thought the red line was part of the label caused i scrolled kinda fast. tells how crazy the price is...
That most expensive country must be a third world sh!thole country without national health/single payer more concerned with profit than patient care.
I’ll say from experience the British nhs pays a lot more than $8 for a vial of insulin and penfill cartridges are again much more expensive than vials, and then you have how are you going to administer the insulin? Syringes, pens or pump, each has an ever increasing cost, so unfortunately often patients get the cheapest method of treatment rather than the best one for them
Absolutely not true!! I've had to try many forms of insulin before we found one that worked well for me. Maybe it's just my specialist, but he doesn't question me if there's a new insulin in the market and I want to try it. Patients tend to get a much bigger say in what they need or want now.
Load More Replies...This will change once Trump gets re-elected. He has big plans for pharma. Huge plans, biggest plans ever.
Measure System In The United States And In The Rest Of The World
The date format is worse in Canada because it is supposed to be day/month/year but because of how much we trade with the US, you'll see a combination of the 2 formats being used. So fun trying to guess the date for the 1st-12th of the month
Infographics are a creative way to display data that breaks up complex information into bite-sized pieces. For this reason, it can be a great learning tool in education.
For one, such visualization can hold a person’s attention for longer. As people are exposed to more and more information every day, it’s hard to keep them focused and prevent them from quickly moving on to the next shiny piece of statistics.
Just for us to imagine how distracting it can get, 2.5 quintillion bytes of data were created daily in 2021, according to The Next Tech. Therefore, infographics can help by taking an overwhelming amount of facts and presenting them with engaging images and colors.

Besides, most people process visual material much faster and tend to recall it better.
Neuroscientists from MIT found that the brain analyzes an image in 13 milliseconds, making these visuals a great learning aid. Our mind also tends to attach emotion to pictures, which explains why the average person remembers 65% of visual information ten days later, while they can recall only 10% of something they heard ten days ago.
Furthermore, they often prove effective in education because they use images to highlight, explain, or enhance text-based information, which also encourages data retention for many learners.

In addition, these visuals can be applied for a variety of uses. They are ideal for foregrounding important events in a historical period. They help us understand how certain occurrences interconnect and influence each other and how they have affected the world.
By using infographics, number-heavy statistics can be made more interesting, and adding diagrams and short text makes them easier to process and remember.

Teachers can also use them as assignments for homework. Giving students a long text and letting them transform it into something more appealing provides them with the opportunity to be more creative and shakes up the ordinary routine.
While doing it, they also conduct research and try different applications of information. As a result, learners demonstrate critical thinking by filtering data, identifying patterns, and presenting carefully curated projects.

As for the aesthetic part, a step in the right direction would be choosing the right fonts. Two are more than enough – one for the title and one for the body text. A more fun and decorative one can be used for the header, while the remaining information can be formatted with a simpler one so it’s easily readable. The typeface should also reflect the topic. Storytelling that’s more youthful and entertaining deserves a font that portrays this.

The same goes for colors – try to keep them visually appealing and stick with three or four that work well together. Finally, the goal with these visual aids is to portray data in a simple way, so don’t overcrowd it. Leave plenty of space between images and statistics, and use as little text as possible.
