In The End Credits Of Mr. Popper’s Penguins (2011), It Is Confirmed That While No Penguins Were Harmed During The Making Of The Movie, Jim Carrey Was Not So Fortunate

The whole story of the Russian royal family is such a horror story. To this day I think the slaughter of the Russian royal family perfectly encapsulates the goals of communism.
I'm no political science major, and the slaughter of the Romanovs was horrific, but how to you equate communism with this?

Very sad. But over a million people died, who didn't deserve to die, under Nicholas II's rule.

Lisa explained that “Easter eggs” are hidden messages, images or features that filmmakers, game designers, and other (usually electronic) artists include in their work for audiences to discover. "Most Easter eggs are bonus materials that are not essential to the main narrative. Sometimes they do sometimes enrich our experience of the story by connecting it with other, similar stories to create a 'shared universe.' But if nothing else, they are always meant to amuse by conveying 'insider knowledge' in a clever way,” the professor explained.
In "Moana" (2016), Maui's Visual Appearance Is Partly Modeled On Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Grandfather, Samoan-American Professional Wrestler Peter Maivia

My niece voiced a cartoon and when it came out the character had a gap in her teeth and her hair in plaits like my niece
For those who’re wondering, Lisa assured that Easter eggs are usually intentional, “placed there by the director or some other individual or group involved in the creation process—see images 7, 9, 13, 16, 19, 27, 31, 33, and 38).”
“Sometimes, however, Easter eggs come about as unintended or surprise effects of the technical creation process. My favorite examples of this are Mulan (in which the animators decided to have Mulan play with her hair after observing the voice actor who sang her songs do the same in real life) and Spaceballs (in which Mel Brooks gave up fighting the sloppiness of his production crew and just decided to incorporate styrofoam coffee cups into his Star Wars parody).”
In Brave (2012), You Can See Merida And Her Mother Hidden In The Logo Of The Movie. Look At The Top Left Of The B And E

My and my mom and sisters always joke how Pixar ALWAYS kills off the moms
Wouldn't Perdita have been the first pregnant female character? pretty sure Perdita isn't killed off/villainized either...
Hey this was on this site before. If we’re just talking about animated films in terms of mother’s who are rent killed off or villainized - Dumbo’s mom, Aurora’s mom, Perdita, Simba’s mom, Nala’s Mom, Mulan’s Mom and grandmother, Hercules’ bio mom and adoptive mom, Tarzan’s adoptive mom
I'm guessing they're referring to human ones, but even then Hercules adoptive mother and Mulan's family are human and not villainized.

When I watched this movie for the first time, my sister, 3 at the time, laughed so hard whenever they came on. She did not understand this movie at all, but whenever they came on she started laughing uncontrolably.
Meanwhile, the term itself “was coined in 1979/80 by Atari’s then-Director of Software Development, Steve Wright, to describe a secret message that had been planted in the video game Adventure,” Lisa added. Turns out, “game designer Warren Robinett was angry with Atari for the company’s failure to include developers’ names in the game credits, so he programmed the message 'created by Warren Robinett' to appear when players encountered a special pixel called 'the gray dot' that gives entry to a secret part of the game map.”
Lisa added that sadly, Atari took that Easter egg out and “you won’t find it in any contemporary versions of the game. But you will find an homage to it at the end of both the novel and film versions of Ready Player One, where players in a massive virtual game compete to find Easter eggs—including, at the very end, the Easter egg from Adventure!”

Oh, I love that "tid bit". I watch the credits and it really pisses me off when tv stations [even cable paid for movies] truncate the credits because I miss good stuff.

Interestingly, Easter eggs are as old as films themselves. Lisa said that the first director known to purposely include them is Alfred Hitchcock. “Hitchcock used himself as the surprise, playing at least one cameo role in 39 of his films—indeed, he even shows up twice in 1927’s Lodger: A Store of the London Fog. These surprises quickly became part of Hitchcock’s signature style, and they quickly inspired similar hidden treats in other media.”
When asked what is the reason for film directors to include them, Lisa said that many creators use them as part of their signature style. “The earliest and still most famous example of this is probably Alfred Hitchcock’s tendency to cast himself in small walk-on roles in many of his films—a tradition continued today by Peter Jackson in Lord of the Rings and Taika Waititi in Thor: Ragnarok.”
In Titanic (1997) There Is A Scene Showing A Boy Playing With A Spinning Top On Deck. This Is Actually A Recreation Of A Real Photo Taken Onboard The Ship On April 11th, 1912 By Francis Browne. It Shows 1st Class Passenger Frederic Spedden And His 6 Year Old Son Douglas. Both Survived The Sinking
Me to. Most of the people on that ship didn’t deserve to die so I’m happy that some people survived.
Load More Replies...James Cameron made sure everything shipwise in that movie, including the position of the stars in the sky, was as accurate as possible for what really happened that night.
The Titanic made two stops before heading from New York: Queenstown, Ireland; and Cherbourg, in France. The photographer, Father Francis Browne, only boarded the Titanic from Southampton to Queenstown and got off there. The movie recreated several of his pictures.

In Goodfellas (1990), Robert De Niro Didn’t Like How Fake Money Felt In His Hand And Insisted Using Real Money. So The Prop Master Withdrew Several Thousand Dollars Of His Own Money To Use. At The End Of Each Take, No One Was Allowed To Leave The Set Until All The Money Was Returned & Counted
I would have suggested he used his own money for the shot.
Load More Replies...You would think DeNiro could have supplied his own real money and not missed it
That's real dedication to your draft... on the part of the prop master.
Maybe De Niro should have used his own money, because I'm pretty sure he had more of it than the prop master.
In Toy Story 4 (2019), A Car Has The Licence Plate "Rmrf97". In 1997, Someone At Pixar Accidentally Typed “Rm -R -F “, Deleting The Entire Toy Story 2 Movie From The Pixar Database. Fortunately, The Film's Supervising Technical Director Had A Backup Copy At Home, And The Movie Was Restored
Fun fact! The person that had the backups (number 3 btw not 4 if I'm correct) was a lady who was on her maternity leave and took a backup server home with her so she could work. When the servers went down they thought they lost years of work but she pulled up with a backup and they only lost a few months of work!! Yay to that mum!!!
Wow can you imagine the feeling of realising you've just lost thousands of hours/millions of dollars of work by accident. Hurts me enough when I haven't saved my word document... I'd have to move country and start a new life.
I believe she was on part time maternity leave which is why she had it at home
Load More Replies...Maybe they wanted to delete something else and just accidentally typed in the wrong path
Load More Replies...You know the black computer window that coders work on in movies, with the colored words? That's the terminal. With the commands you type in there, you can do the same things as people do with a mouse and right click (e.g. create, copy, move and delete files and folders). rm -r -f is a command derived from the words "remove recursive force". As in: remove (delete) files, in all parts of directory, forcefully (i.e. without warning or requiring additional confirmation). rm -r -f can do a LOT of accidental damage if you have the user rights...
Load More Replies...Another reason may be that “filmmakers create Easter eggs to pay tribute to earlier filmmakers who have had a significant impact either on film as a whole or on that director in particular.” Lisa added that sometimes they do this directly, “as when Tim Burton recreates a scene from Ida Lupino’s 1964 Twilight Zone episode 'The Mask' in 1993’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” and when Peter Jackson visually recreates a scene from Ralph Bakshi’s 1978 animated adaptation of Lord of the Rings for his own live action version, (images 29 and 35).”
Other times, the homage is more indirect, “as in The Mitchells vs. The Machines, when we realize that Katie’s socks pay homage to Stanley Kubrick (image 34).”
In 1953's How To Marry A Millionaire, Lauren Bacall Is Trying To Convince William Powell That She's Attracted To Older Men. One Of The Examples She Cites Is 'That Old Fellow' In African Queen. She's Referring To Humphrey Bogart, Her Real Life Husband

In A Bug's Life (1999), The Queen Is Seen To Have A Pet Named "Aphie." In Real Life, This Little Bug Is An Aphid (Also Known As Aphids) And They Live In Harmony With The Ants, But Not As Pets, But As "Livestock"
All true. Aphids are “milked” by the ants for the sweet liquids they produce while they suck a plants sap
Bees also sample this liquid, producing a very dark, wonderful honey
Load More Replies..."Harmony" - Ants use chemicals that prevent aphids from developing wings, if they still do they get ripped off.
But they carry them to healthier plants if nescessary. So, yes, livestock.

In Spirited Away (2001), The Family Car Is Based On The First-Generation Audi A4 1.8t, From The Mid-1990s. The Production Team Even Drove Around An Audi A4 1.8t On Some Jagged Roads And Recorded The Sounds To Make The Film As Accurate As Possible
Except that the 1.8t version of the car did not come out until 2000. At least not in the U.S. Only the V6 was available until then.
Yep... spouse is a mechanic. Spouse LOoOoOOOoooves cars. Out of that ENTIRE movie... the appearance of this car is the one scene that he remembers the most.
This movie was so creepy, mostly because of the father, what an idiot.
In general, “many directors create Easter eggs to keep production crews happy and amused, especially when they are working on large, complex projects with a lot of (largely boring) moving parts. For example, it takes three years to make a Pixar film, and Pixar, of course, is famous for its Easter eggs—consider, for instance, the Easter egg from Toy Story 4 that mockingly refers back to a near-disaster of the production of Toy Story 2 (image 14),” Lisa explained.
In Deadpool 2 (2018), Wade Wears A Shirt That Says: "Olivia & Meredith. Best Friends Purrrr-Ever". The Two Cats Actually Belong To Taylor Swift. The Production Crew Had To Get Permission From Her To Use Their Image
Reminds me of the shirts he and Amy Smart wear from the film Just Friends.
Wasn't there also something about paying for Bea Arthur''s image as DP is a big Golden Girls fan?
That's why we did not give our cats human names. Except the little tuxedo. We named him Fred because he looks as spiffy as Fred Astaire in a tux.

I haven't been back to NYC since they fell. It would break my heart to fly in and not see those incredible towers as the plane was on its downwind leg. I still feel like crying--and sometimes I do--every time I watch a film that has them pictured. They should have just rebuilt them...stronger, better, and one foot higher!

In Joker (2019), Joaquin Phoenix Improvised The Iconic Dance In The Bathroom. Originally, Arthur Was Just Meant To Stare Into The Mirror And Quietly Contemplate His Actions, But After Hearing Some Of The Composer’s Music, Phoenix Thought The Dance Was More Appropriate
That scene was literally the thing which made me go “woah he’s really joker”
I don't really get the hype with this movie, it's soooo slow! The only "iconic" scene from it is the stair dance, mostly because of the meme.
In 22 Jump Street (2014), Jonah Hill Was Attacked By A Parrot During The Car Chase. His Panicked Reaction Is Real. On The Dvd Commentary, He Said: “That Was Not Acting. I Don’t Like Birds.”
If you don't like birds it's because you don't know how to cook them properly.
In Wreck It Ralph (2012), Bowser Holds His Cup Of Tea In A Particular Way. This Was Actually An Addition By Nintendo. Before The Film Was Released, They Contacted The Filmmakers And Said That Bowser Was Drinking His Tea The Wrong Way In The Group Therapy Scene. So, It Was Changed
I love how Bowser's hair and scales are modeled to look like textures you would see in an actual video game. Love the movie too :)
Proper tea etiquette specifies right hand use and finger placement - no pinky sticking out!

In Skyfall (2012), A Stolen Painting Is Being Shown To A Man. The Painting Is ‘Woman With A Fan’ By Amadeo Modigliani. It Was Stolen In Real-Life In 2010 And Has Yet To Be Recovered
James Bond films have form in this regard. In the first Bond film, Dr. No, when Sean Connery is being shown around Dr. No's lair, there is a painting of the Duke of Wellington by Goya, that was stolen in 1961.
During The Vault Scene In Mission: Impossible (1996), Tom Cruise Kept Hitting His Head When Attempting To Hover Inches Off The Floor, So He Put English Pound Coins In His Shoes To Maintain His Balance
It's not surprising he kept hitting his head, because it's so inflated by his ego.
So the costume design was crappy. Who could have known that the upper body is heavier? :D
Yeah! Why didn't they just adjust or change the harness so he actually balanced?

In La La Land (2016), As Sebastian And Mia Walk Through The Studio Lot, They Pass By Two Actors Filming A Romantic Scene. Those Two Actors Are Actually Ryan Gosling’s And Emma Stone’s Body Doubles
The end of this film made me irrationally angry. Pathetic, I know, but so much so that I've not been able to bring myself to watch it again.
Awesome movie musical, may I add. (Here’s another fact - originally, Emma Watson was going to play Mia, but she couldn’t because she was filming something else, I believe Beauty and the Beast, so Emma Stone got the part)
In Toy Story 2 (1999) Steve Jobs Is On The One Dollar Bill
Well Apple owned Pixar before they sold it to Disney, and they bought it from Lucas Film originally.
Yep. There are several Apple references in a Pixar films. In the opening race in Cars there is a white car with the number 84. I think it has the Apple logo on it, also. In Coco in the land of the dead, one of the dead uses an original Mac. The design of Eve in Wall-E. In Monsters, Inc. there is a computer magazine with an ad that says "Scare Different".

Another fun fact about ID4 is that it was originally written as the sequel to Stargate. Roland Emmerich wrote all 3 scripts and planned on Stargate being a trilogy with a prequel and sequel film, but due to it's low performance at the box office the other two films were scrapped. But he didn't want to waste the scripts so he rewrote the prequel to become the film 10,000 BC, and the sequel became ID4.

It's also referencing a direct quote from the books. Almost have the line memorized. Did they intentionally copy both, or just copy Bakshi who copied the book? Anyway, "ProudFEET!"
The Bakshi film was awful! But the Rankin Bass films are the gold standard
I miss Ralph's movies... I'll have to track those down -- Wizards was just choice...

I wonder how many people spend days writing stuff like this for films or games but nobody ever notices.
Not a lot, it’s just the writers usually. Most of the time if you look closely at these kinds of things, the text will repeat after a certain point, or it’ll start being like “Nobody ever reads these things. I’m writing a fake article for a movie right now.” halfway through. There’s also a specific prop newspaper that has articles like that, but the same newspaper shows up in multiple productions. So like one writer wrote text for it once but the newspaper keeps showing up.

Well ... if you see a tit on TV, it makes an entire self-proclaimed superpower go nuts ... but if whatever weird creatures kill each other on a saturday morning in kids' TV, no one cares. Violence is good, the slightest hint on sex is bad. Weird, I take it just opposite, and do have a couple of valid reasons to think so, but ... I'm european. Around here, seeing it so is normal.
I knew about Jessica's wardrobe malfunction, but never realised about Betty. That is hilarious!
That "malfunction" wasn't intentional and actually was simply a mistake.... unlike many other things animators have done since the earliest days of animation. There's a scene in Disney's Rescuers where the main characters are falling past a building and a Playboy pinup can be seen through a window for one frame of film. I know because I have the laserdisc version and have seen it. That said, a lot of perverted stuff some people "see" is simply mis-perception. There really isn't anything there.
