50 Of The Weirdest Questions Shared On ‘Insane People Quora’
InterviewMost of you Pandas should already be familiar with Quora, an extremely popular website where people ask questions and other internet users answer them. To the best of their knowledge, of course. It’s a very social way of getting to the bottom of any queries you might have, as people can comment on answers as well. You end up getting a variety of opinions, some of which you definitely might not have expected to see the light of day.
However, it’s most often the case that the questions themselves are the most intriguing part. Some of them are so out there, so bizarre, they’re likely to stun you with their Twilight Zone aura, making you wonder what timeline you’re in. That’s where the r/InsanePeopleQuora subreddit comes in. It’s an online community that documents the weirdest posts on Quora and other question-based sites. We’ve collected some of their best featured posts to share with you as well, dear Pandas.
So go on, grab some popcorn, get comfy, and let’s go explore the weird Land of Quora. Don’t forget to upvote the pics that amused you the most. And if you’ve seen any super peculiar Quora questions previously, you can always share them in the comment section for all the other Pandas to see.
I reached out to the subreddit's moderator team and they were more than happy to talk about the community, its history, and why Quora is so popular. Scroll down for Bored Panda's full interview with them below.

The ‘Insane People Quora’ subreddit has been active since June 2018, recently having celebrated its 3rd birthday. During that time, the community has grown to become over 291k members strong. Most redditors visit the group for their daily dose of fringe weirdness that reminds them (and us!) that fact can often be stranger than fiction.
The founder of r/InsanePeopleQuora told Bored Panda that the online group was founded once there was a rise in the number of Quora posts shared on r/insanepeoplefacebook, a "catch-all for social media insanity." There was a demand for a separate subreddit dedicated exclusively to Quora posts.

"I saw a comment suggesting there should be a specific one for Quora as it's quite different to standard social media (having Q&As only) and decided to make it from there. Getting the first few thousand members took a while with crossposting Quora posts I found to r/insanepeoplefacebook. Some reached the front page of Reddit which is when the sub started seeing a large increase in numbers and became self-sustaining, meaning I didn't need to post as much to keep the sub going," the founder shared how the community started to grow.
According to r/InsanePeopleQuora's mod team, moderating the community is "fairly easy" for the most part. "The main issues we've faced is when we became the trending subreddit of the day we got a large number of unique views (~200k which is way more than the hundreds we would've been getting at the time) and new members within a few days (I think doubling or tripling our size at the time)," they explained.

Politics is almost always a touchy subject. And political discussions on the subreddit are no exception. "The other posts which are difficult are those that bring up political issues. Most of the time this will result in people flinging personal attacks at each other, a large number of bans, and often a locked post. Otherwise, since the number of insane posts on Quora each day is fairly small we tend to only get a few posts a day on most days."
I was interested to get the subreddit founder's opinion about why Quora is such a popular platform. In their opinion, it has to do with the site's ability to adapt. "I think Quora is so popular due to its age and keeping up with the times. Age obviously helps as it takes time to build up a user base, but then you have to do something to maintain that base. For Quora, they've added several common social media features such as the ability to upvote questions, comment on questions (as opposed to answering them), and following people for their questions or answers," they pointed out exactly how the platform has changed with the times.
"I don't think there's anything specific that attracts weird questions, I think it's just because of the popularity of the site, with enough people on there you're always going to get some strange questions as well as trolls."

Quora itself was founded in 2009 by former Facebook employees Adam D’Angelo and Charlie Cheever and became public a year later, on June 21, 2010. Fast-forwarding to 2020, a whopping 300 million users visited it each month. With that kind of popularity, it’s no wonder that some Quora posts end up being weirder than weird.
There have been some large changes made to how Quora operates this year. On April 19, 2021, the site eliminated the requirement for users to use their real names. That means that users can use pseudonyms of their choice as of that date.
This Is Incredibly Disgusting, And Also Child Abuse
This used to be a common punished for kids caught smoking. I don't recommend it though.
When I was a kid and asked about it in the early 90's when I was 10 I thought this was normal. I made comments about making my kids do smoke or drink until they were sick when I was 11ish all about D.A.R.E. I have an 17yo and no way in all of this world would I ever do that... but I am old enough to be taught the old ways of thinking. Such a strange thought now. I grew up in the age where if I said a bad word I would eat soap... and yes... that happened. And had a paddle bought foe me with kittens on it to make me proud it was mine. Until I found that I was scared of it because if I saw the "kittens" paddle brought out I knew it would hurt.
Load More Replies...am glad the kid knew what to do... the son was honestly doing what a kid does... talking to him was the right response. i hope the kid is away from you now
Suck it up buttercup and I hope you do some time for child abuse, the Good Lord (and your son) only knows what other forms of child abuse you have committed.
Reminds me of the King of the Hill episode - Hank does the exact same thing to Bobby and then he gets super sick. I think Family Guy did this too
He definitely told the RIGHT person. You should not be allowed to care for a pet let alone children.
Don’t fight the social workers when they tell you they are taking your son away from you due to abuse/potential nicotine poisoning
I always think of the Norm McDonald joke when I hear these about how his father caught him smoking cigarette and made him smoke a box of cigars then later caught him smoking a joint and made him inject a bag of heroin.
My mom made me try one of her cigs when I was about 5. I almost puked. I never had the slightest desire to smoke after that. But I didn't have to smoke the whole thing.
This was a thing when I was a kid. My brother was 5 and my mom caught him trying to smoke so she made him finish it.
And by the way, I have never used punishments on my child and she's 18 now. Never had a fight with her or has she ever raised her voice with me. I'm not s perfect mom but I always talked to her with respect and explained to her why you should not do bad things or what ever has been some kind of misbehaviour etc. Of course she could be a naughty little thing but it really worked in the long run and we are and have aways had an an amazing mother/daughter bond that is unbreakable❤ I'm so proud of her and she's an amazing human being who shows me respect and love and understanding in return. And we talk about everything. Good and bad. I will always be there for her as long as I live❤❤❤
Actually, that tactic does get people to quit. One woman I read about can't even be in the same room as someone smoking without getting nauseous.
What should you do? Honey, start raising your basil money, you're gonna need it.
Oh, he told exactly the right person. Your ruthless need to be a domineering a-hole put his life in jeopardy.
My moms older brother did this to her way back. Must have worked though because she's never been a smoker
My Momma tried it guess what her kids smoked lol guess it didn't seem abusive rather than an ass whooping Love you Momma RIP
Wear your under clothes on the outside of your clothing. Slap your ear a lot when questioned. Fart regularly and loudly. They usually run off.
examine your so called brain to see how stupidity looks. I am sure you will find a ton of it.
Sounds like an old fashion way to do things, so unless there were other incidents of mistreatments, the social worker would just laugh it off as a common solution from years past. Plus social workers are overworked and understaffed, so my guess would be that it take 1 or 2 more complaints to trigger some involvement.
hope that they do not take you son away from you & maybe learn from it
Modern panty-waist complainers. My Mum did this with both me and my brother because she was a pack-a-day smoker and having real troubles giving up. She didn't want us to get into cigarettes. It worked. None of us kids are interested in cigarettes at all. She only needed to do it once.
Admit your guilt, and beg your son's forgiveness for being so xxxxxx stupid.,
Cop it sweet. Making a minor smoke a large amount on cigarettes to make them stop smoking, is an Old-Wives-Tale. Sit down with him and make him do the maths,. Cost of each packet of cigarettes $??? X 365 days in a year. = $???????, cost of a house, a car, as well as his health, sports and hobbies. Body odour, smelly clothes, and the list goes on. It can also take anything from 6 months to 3 years to get yourself free from the addiction.
Actually your homemade remedy will not work. Idea may sound like good parenting. just agree with SW and learn a few things.
They used to do that a lot in my Parents' era to discourage them becoming smokers. Kids didnt usually report it though.
"They are not mine! My boss said his warehouse was full!" maxresdefa...374370.jpg
Darling, a pack would have been plenty. That method of punishment worked way back when smoking was a common thing. Not so much anymore. Good luck with the social worker.
What you should NOT do , is follow 90's tv sitcom style parenting advice. If your child smokes , maybe ground them?
I have heard of people doing this (I think they meant to say pack instead of carton if this is real). Smoking is dangerous and I can understand parents wanting to do anything to discourage it. In this sort of case it’s probably best to view the social worker as a positive recourse for different methods. They are unlikely to actively work against a parent in this scenario. They are going to check on things and make sure things are ok.
Now the kid has 20% more nicotine in his system than from the one cigarette he tried. So, you think he’s gonna give up the habit? Doubtful. 🤷♀️
Nothing? This is absolutely the right way to do it. One carton has almost no effect, whereas thinking smoking is repulsive, is going to save his lungs a LIFETIME of smoking.
I really think people should have to pass a test before being able to have children. There are just too many people who are not qualified to be anywhere near children, let alone raise them.
Why won't you just give him cocain and see if the social worker will give you a slap on the hand for genius child abuse like that. Please raise your son to be a good and a thoughtful person and not starting to get addicted to one thing that usually leads to other addictions. Talk with him like a mother should and tell him why he shouldn't smoke rather than punish him with torture and addiction by your own making!! Please!!
When I was a kid, back in the 70s, my Mom bought a pack of cigarettes and invited my brothers and I to try it. I was probably 5. It was horrible. My Mom thought this would teach us never to smoke, but my oldest brother smoked heavily for a number of years when he was in his 20s, and I'm here in my 50s still smoking.
Explain to the social worker why you did it,but they will now keep an eye on you for years.
I hope the state removes the child from the home because that's just wrong, on so many levels.
I knew a kid whose father made him eat the cigarettes. He threw them all up later. Sure, he never smoked again, but dang...

What’s more, in August, Quora announced that contributors can now monetize their content. A new subscription service called Quora+ was also launched, where subscribers can access all the content that anyone puts behind a paywall. For a small fee, of course.
The r/InsanePeopleQuora subreddit has a few rules for any up-and-coming members of the community. For instance, obviously, all the posts have to be screenshots from Quora, though other question-based sites also allowed. That includes certain subreddits dedicated mainly to questions.
Perfect Relationship Doesn't Exist
If you're DATING his mother, you aren't his step anything. And he's older than you so... chill.
Uh Yes It’s Immoral
Okay.. I Feel Bad For His Condition
What’s more, the subreddit’s moderators ask their members not to post any personal information. That means no links to the source material! The mods also frown upon reposts and posts that are obvious satire presented as serious questions (satire needs to be marked as such).
And there you have it. The next time you’re browsing Quora for some educational content, you should keep an eye out for any bizarre posts. We’re sure that the r/InsanePeopleQuora community would be more than happy if you share your finds with them.

These aren't crazy people, they're trolls. The Quora Partner Program, wherein participants get paid to ask questions, has resulted in all sorts of silliness like this..
This is exactly the problem. I do go on Quora as some things are interesting/funny but there is a LOT of these kinds of questions and they are clearly trolls.
Load More Replies...Are people really this stupid or were most of these written by kids competing who could write the silliest?
Well this is tame compared to what a lot of the MAGA crowd come up with..
Load More Replies...If this thread was called 'best troll posts' it would make more sense. But I fear a fair number of these are actually real. Well, at least they're asking if their actions and convictions are right, that's gotta count for something, right? RIGHT?
I stopped reading after about 10 of these. Quora *used to be* a great place to ask insightful questions, and people who were particularly knowledgeable about that certain subject would answer them. Now, it's a free-for-all. Fake accounts, troll questions from pre-teens, and a backwards-ass monetizing scheme put out by the site itself.
The amount of people who ask if/how they can abuse their children is horrifying.
A lot of these must be for seeking attention or just trolling people. I refuse to believe people can be as stupid as it turns out from some of these questions.
Quora can be weird. I used to get emails from them with recommendations of really inappropriate questions. I blocked it obviously, but still. They gotta stop.
It would be funny if there were not so many abusive parents. Neutering should be compulsory for some people.
Why do trolls like to make up questions about deranged parents so much?
I used to read/post Quora. Very soon after they advertised pay for questions, the stupidity began. I'm out.
I can not believe anyone this stupid made it to adulthood, I think they are all fake.
These would be comical if you knew for sure they were trolls, but I think some of these are sadly true. It just shows the amount of ignorance that is in the world today.
It's disturbing how many of these ask how or if its ok to be abuseive to children.

I hope most of these are satirical. Otherwise, I really worry about the state of our civilization.
I really hope these are just trolls but after the year + that we have had here in the us, I wouldn't be surprised if every one of them were true honest questions.
Troll questions asked by Anonymous. They are all fake, made by people trying to earn money on the QPP program. I'm so glad Quora ditched the anonymous feature. It's cut down on this BS quite a bit, but since people can use fake names now, it hasn't cut down enough.
I'm not saying they're all real, but anyone who says they're all 100% fake has never been subjected to a conservative Christian family, or worked in the service industry. I work in hotels, and the questions I get.... There seriously needs to be an "Adulting 101" class in high schools. The only problem is finding someone qualified to teach it.

I refuse to believe these are real questions - shouldn't this just have been filed under humour instead?
