When I was a kid, we couldn't even afford off-brand or Walmart clothes. We wore salvation army, goodwill, 2nd hand (if we were lucky), and donated clothes from other people. Often, before I got a shirt or a pair of jeans, 3 other kids wore it before me, and sometimes one or two wore it AFTER me. We were so poor, I had patches on my patches! Yet ... YET ... I remember being in high school and having TONS of clothes, dozens of shirts, half a dozen suits, more than a dozen pairs of shoes ... almost all of it hand-me-downs. It was awesome!

We were quite poor and my mother had to buy clothes for me in shops that accepted the clothes cheques from social services. What shall I say? My Addidas had sometimes 2 and sometimes 4 stripes. The other kids teased me (off course) but I turned out to be a quite normal guy. Except for the fact that I don't look for brands but for quality and value.

Cute, fun, bright and comfortable are the clothes of choice for my kids. Who needs brands, the kids don’t have a clue or care!

I wore mostly hand-me-downs until middle school. Didn’t ruin me.

Children grow very fast, soon the expensive brand name clothes will be too small. And you will not want to let the next child wear " last year's fashion"' surely! So you "must" buy new. Not very sustainable.

I buy name brands sometimes, if I run across something nice in a second hand shop. Unfortunately I am very bad at remembering names, så I am likely to buy a different brand next time.

Speaking as a kid who grew up wearing K-Mart shoes, Wal-Mart jeans, and Sears jackets, and constantly grew out of everything, it's not worth it to clothe kids in stuff they're not going to be able to fit in after 6 months, and as long as it's cute and comfortable, who really cares about the tag?

Infants and toddlers grow incredibly fast - not to mention all the spit-up and poop that gets everywhere! Haute couture/designer duds is just showing off - a lifestyle that you most likely can't afford. Absolutely NOTHING wrong with WalMart, Target, Ross, or hand-me-downs for that matter. My kid can and has run around in the most gods-awful mismatched, ill-fitting ragged outfit he could put together because he is still in single digits and he liked it. I'd rather he express himself and learn to feel comfortable doing so in healthy ways than adhere to some name brand ideology.

I'm sorry I refuse to pay $20-some odd for a t-shirt when Walmart sells No Boundary (NoBo) clothes that are super cute and comfy for like $10-$15. Oh wait. No I'm not lol
