More than a year ago we made a post about homeless people and their dogs. Amazed by their four-legged friends' unconditional love, we decided to turn the post into an open list so you could contribute as well.
Once a dog forms a close relationship with a caring owner, their loyalty can be unbreakable, and they will stick with their owner through thick and thin. And unlike us, dogs don’t pass judgment on people who are down on their luck or homeless. This post is a tribute to homeless dogs, who love and stick with their homeless owners no matter what.

This guy lives in Dublin and some kids took his rabbit and through it into a river. He jumped in after it and saved it. He really loves his animals. I always give him money when I see him.

Hello, do you actually know the context of this picture? It is actually a picture of a ''fake'' homeless man with two drugged dogs in its lap. https://www.facebook.com/841374279238835/photos/pb.841374279238835.-2207520000.1450210180./841389822570614/?type=3&theater please follow the link. There is a massive use of cute dogs by fake homeless to induce pity and gain more money with this tactic.

I'm sorry but you are ill-informed. there is no "massive use of cute dogs" by the "fake" homeless. There is occasional exploitation of animals among homeless and those posing as homeless, but it doesn't compares to the level of cruelty of pets by the rest of the population.

This photo is disgusting. not only is this person not homeless, they are part of a ring in Paris that breeds dogs specifically to beg with. Moreover, they drug the c**p out of these dogs so they don't move. They lay there all day long with their eyes scrunched shut, even the puppies. How sick is that? Please check out the reality of these photos before you're moved by them. I've seen this fellow and his group (there's about 10 of them that encircle Notre Dame, Saint Michel, Cluny) begging for the past several years.

It doesn't matter if you only meant that on this one post. Yes, there are people out there who fake being homeless. Not many, but they are out there. But, there are a lot of people who are just a couple of paychecks away from being homeless. If you lost your job and had nowhere to go, how long could you make it before you would be on the streets. I have been blessed with a good family. If it wasn't for them (especially my Meme and my Mom), I would still be in Houston. And I would be dead or living under a bridge. And yes, I do have mental issues. But should I be judged the way you are judging these people. I have seen poverty, and I have seen the effect that drugs have on good people. Some of them die because they couldn't get out of the situation they were in And I have lived with my own mental illness for the past 20 years, I am 45. I thank God every day that I'm still here, that I have a family that loves me. And that I have doctors who know how to treat my problems.

Have I judge the homeless people portrayed here? No. My comment was meant for the particular photo that is used for this post. I claimed he was an impostor passing himself for a homeless man.

Weeeellll, dogs are very loyal and loving (some breeds more than others) but the story behind the movie Hachiko is actually more about a conditioned habit than loyalty for a human - at least according to some dog-professionals I've met. Most dogs (not all) deal fairly well with a change of owner if it's done in a loving and controlled fashion. There is some confusion for a few days or maybe weeks but usually the dog lives on happily ever after. I think what is more special is the loyalty and love dogs can create in us. :-)

They'll rotate different dogs between them,dress them up, expose a dog and her litter. You'll see the same man with different dogs in different places, the same dog(s) with different men, etc ...

I agree with what Maya says. This photo was taken in Paris. I have seen him and even have my own photo of him. At first I was suckered in like many people but quickly learned that the dogs are drugged. You can pass by at any time of the day and the dogs are in the same position. Some associations try to help the dogs but it's an uphill battle. Disgusting!!! Another example about how there is often a whole other story behind a photo. Having said this I really believe that most homeless people who have dogs take the best possible care of them and that we should help them when we can.

Oh my God!? In the sewer they live, unbelievable? So sad. It breaks my heart. In the Great Russa many people have to live now day is the sewers avoid dying in winter, actully whole familles do so. Will the rich get richer, poor are left behind to die slowly in the streets or sweres. Back to the to the 13 century, yet it's 21 st century believe it or not?!!

A lot of people don't realise how important these dogs are for their owners mental health and in some cases to keep them clean (as in drugs and alcahol). Some people who find themselves on the street can't relate or trust to other people due to things that have happend to them in the past so their pets are their bests friends and therapy all rolled into one.

I know too many dogs of down-and-out people who are not getting the medical care they would really need. As touching as a few of these pics are I just cannot like them. (Not to mention that some pics show stolen, drugged dogs used by professional beggars)

Sad part is most of these animals (and in some cases kids) are drugged, so they sleep most of the time of appear to be sleeping.

Mixe feelings here, too. Yes, I know the dog comes first, but first to what? And I know what I pay for vet-visits. There's no say somebody who is that down and out can afford sending their dogs to the vet. Also: life on the road is fab for a young-ish dog but not so great for an old dog with arthritis and other illnesses. But at least these dogs are not left alone for 10-12 hours a day, often locked in a kennel!
