The setup everyone wanted to have one day... By the time I could afford it (the good Kenwood stuff, not the Sonys), it was already out of fashion. Still works, though, and has been faithfully doing so since 1991.

This is still too new and fancy. It has a CD player with a digital display and only a single cassette deck. Get rid of the CD player and replace it with a double cassette player so you can make mix tapes from your albums, cassettes, and the radio. Our generation is defined by our mix tapes. Which groups you belonged to, your friends, and who you were allowed to date all revolved whether you had a perfect recording off AT40 of either "Girls just want to have fun", "Cum on feel the noize", "Karma chameleon", or "When doves cry".

My grandparents had this. They were cutting edge. We were not allowed to touch this.

I remember taking the speaker cover off of one of my brothers speaker because I was curious what was behind it. I then proceeded to push in those middle parts of the speakers that bulged out. I just couldn't help myself.

Still love my '80's 5 stack stereo. Only had to replace needle once. Still plays great!!
