With over 20 years of experience, it's fair to say that lawyer L. Scott Briscoe has learned a thing or two along the way. Having spent plenty of time in the courtroom, representing a variety of clients who may or may not have done all kinds of weird and stupid things, this guy really has seen it all!

Helpfully, L. Scott goes out of his way to share his knowledge and experience of legal issues on his Facebook page, all for free and with a large dose of humor on the side. His account has proven to be wildly popular, and the West Virginia Legal Eagle now has over 45k followers and counting. From basic tips like what to wear in the courtroom to advice on how not to bribe a judge, these funny and insightful nuggets might not get you off the hook. But they'll at least give you a good chuckle and a far better chance than some of the hapless idiots that L. Scott has had to represent!

Scroll down below to check out some of our favorite tips for yourself (as well as our previous post here), and let us know what you think in the comments!

"It all began when clients began posting their criminal activities on Facebook," Scott told Bored Panda about his reasons behind the page. "The first, I believe, was a juvenile who posted that she and her friends were having fun committing trespassing and destruction of property, with photos attached. This made the prosecutor's job way too easy. All he had to do was go to Facebook and click print. Confession and photo evidence in hand. She and her friends with charged with exactly what they shared publicly, trespassing and destruction of property."

"And then clients on home confinement began posting pictures of themselves anywhere but at home. Juvenile clients were posting photos of themselves smoking weed and getting drunk. And so on. It became a daily event, dealing with clients and their FB confessions. So out of frustration, I made the first post, that when your post your criminal acts 1, 2, and 3, they become State's exhibits A, B, and C. I got a huge response from that, and then began posting the unbelievably dumb things that people did in court. They were interspersed among my other posts on my personal page. Friends eventually started sharing my posts, and asked that I put them all in one convenient place for them to follow, so I started the Tips page."

Scott went on to explain that he works mainly with kids, for whom his sharp wit and dry humor must be a great comfort in often trying circumstances. "I represent most of the juvenile delinquents in my county, and I'm appointed as guardian ad litem in every child abuse and neglect case in the county," he told us. "Today consisted of twenty-five abuse and neglect hearings. Tuesdays are juvenile hearings. Wednesdays are criminal hearings. And Thursdays and Friday I spend in meetings with clients and CPS, doing home visits in abuse cases, meeting with clients in detention centers and rehabs, and psych facilities and foster homes."

"I also do adoptions, those are the best. Happy clients and a happy judge. But adoptions are only a fraction of my practice. When I started in 1997, the court handled about five abuse cases a week. Now, we do between twenty five to forty hearings in a day because of the drug epidemic in our area. I also act as guardian ad litem for the elderly and mentally impaired in guardianship and conservator cases as well, but that's a smaller part of my practice."

"I couldn't do my job without a sense of humor. To quote the Bare Naked Ladies, "I'm the kinda guy who laughs at a funeral." Finding humor in what can sometimes become a depressing grind gives me joy, and sharing it with my friends and making them smile is the icing on the cake."

"The majority of my tips are based on actual events I witness, and a few here and there are from friends and co-workers who share their stories with me. Lawyers, judges, probation officer, law enforcement, they all want to share their stories with me in hopes of making the list. I frequently hear, "Hey, Scott, I have one for your list." Quite a few of my tips are based on my own friends. I love when a buddy makes the list, good times!"

So here's the really depressing part: As reported by Associated Press in the Seattle Times (https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/man-who-told-police-of-assault-in-job-interview-acquitted/), the man was acquitted of the charges. He now says he is going to join the Air Force. I don’t know what to say.

adding tip : do not use woman's urine if you're a male, or be really sure that they will only test drugs/alcohol. I worked in a medical laboratory during vacations when I was a student and we had to test Dockers. They seemed to think we were testing alcohol (gamma GT) but it was a medical test. Actually, it kinda does work that way: THC is a fat-soluble compound, which means if you have it in your system when your body is packing on fat, THC will be stored with it - then if you burn that fat, the THC is released. There were a lot of old people peeing hot decades after their last joint, which led to a study.
