Turns Out, There’s A “You Had To Be There” Trend On Twitter And Here Are 75 Of The Best Tweets About It
Nostalgia is a powerful and, quite frankly, fun thing. Many of us likely have a favorite TV show we watched the first thing in the morning while preparing for school, the same one that influenced our personalities. Or perhaps you can recall the lighter things, the ones that make you laugh and grant some respite from the hectic pace of the world. And then there are the light mistakes, like the popular candy that left a sour taste in your mouth. Basically, nostalgia comes in many forms, we each have fond memories related to childhood (or not-so-distant youth!), and from time to time, it's nice to recall the carefree days of our lives.

I remember those days... I’d dip my feet in the paddling pool, then yell at everyone because ‘they’ got grass in the paddling pool. Fun times.
Uh, are you ok? Your spelling is giving me a headache

I wasn't old enough to remember blockbuster, but i do remember going to the mailbox with my grandma whenever she got deliveries from netflix
And for new releases you had to be there on Friday afternoon or all the copies would be gone.
Blockbuster girl here. Oh the memories !!! Being able to choose 2 on a Friday night with my mom and sister and play paper, scissors, rock to win my pick.
We would go in there every weekend and spend like 45 minutes trying to agree on a movie because no one in our friend group liked the same types of movies.
I LIVE IN THE TOWN WITH THE LAST BLOCKBUSTER I JUST RENTED A FEW MOVIES FROM THERE LAST WEEK I NEED TO RETURN THEM TONIGHT (thanks for the reminder)
I used to make these at summer camp while gossiping with the older girls and counselorsurs
Twitter users jumped right on the ongoing trend of "You had to be there", posting pictures that encapsulate certain times in their lives. Some of the posts can involve things from a few years ago, while others go back decades—and each of them is accompanied by the feeling of nostalgia that's attached to the pictures.
the ones that gave me a sun burn. yes. And the endless amount of splinters i got.
Load More Replies...i love parks like that my grandma used to take me to one before it got destroyed for safety reasons
As a kid I always gauged how great my day was by how many splinters I got climbing up the wooden jungle gyms or how burnt my legs and shoulders would get sliding on those huge metal slides. My favourite park was also taken down as a kid for "safety reason." Sigh, skinning your knees and falling off the teeter-toter were sign of passage as a kid.

Plenty of people are jumping in on this trend, from regular folk to official and certified accounts, each post presenting a blast from the past that was somehow special for them, be it TV series that aired a decade ago or a newer movie that's only a few years old. Time is a flexible thing, and the trend reflects different periods that people grew up in.

You would be outside and the only water available to you was the hose water because your mom wouldn't let you in the house if you were all wet from the slip and slide or the pool.

And there's an unspoken rule to these posts—you shouldn't add a description to the pictures. Basically, if you know, you know. If you don't, don't worry about it. The variety of the posts—containing old movies, physical items, or discontinued media—apply to people of different ages. So, there's a bit of everything for everyone.
Man, this reminds me of my first car (an Acclaim). Like driving a pillow with better safety ratings.
Looks like the inside of my old 1980 Chrysler Cordoba Medallion. Was like aiming a boat it was so nice. Had a 360 engine, air, nice stereo, plush as all hell. Bought it with only 12K on it in 1981. Loved that car. Could afford to feed it nowadays though.
