This Instagram Page Showcases The Contrast Between Great Art And Ugly Rooms (35 Posts)
Exhibiting art is like another form of art in and of itself. But while we're used to seeing famous works tucked in safely at museums and galleries, there are more ways we can experience them. For example, through the project 'Great Art in Ugly Rooms.'
The brainchild of Paul Kremer, it juxtaposes renowned masterpieces against unconventional and unexpected settings, like an abandoned villa or a budget home gym, challenging the conventional notion of art display.
Not to mention the space it offers for discussions on the elitism associated with the scene, showcasing how an unpretentious environment can provide a fresh perspective on art appreciation. Or would it diminish the value of the piece instead?

This is not an uglynroom. Its a magnificent room in an abandoned house that been left dilapidated
This feels like is supposed to be a commendation of excess wealth and the decay of society lol
The real Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez is safe. BP readers get trolled too easily
I don't want him watching me pee. Bouche and Audi take care of that for me.
I'd rather be in the picture. (Norman Rockwell: Freedom from Want, 1942)
The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai. I love the picture. Nice corelation.
If I encountered that thing at night I'd be scared witless
There’s a tapestry of this in a large room in the UN building in NYC. The same room that was used by Colin Powell to announce the invasion of Iraq by the coalition forces. They’d covered up the tapestry with a white sheet. Ironic.
Starry night by Vincent van Gogh. Just makes me sing, every time, one of the most wonderful songs of all time, by Don Mc Lean. One is allowed to sing in the bathroom, or not?
I think the background Is appropriate in colours and stage presence...
Ok, but why are bulls and roosters more popular than cows and hens?

These are fantastic photographs! Almost every single one has perfect composition and balance. Most of these paintings are in a setting that references something in the painting itself......lines or a color or a theme. Really great choices!
I didn't look at it like that. I saw some art I hadn't seen before, and some of it touched me.
continued ... We had a family get together at our house a few weeks later and everyone agreed that the display was really nice and MIL would have loved it. THEN one of the BILs comes in with a poster sized "Footprints" poem in a cheesy brass toned plastic frame. He asked me to hang it above the blue & white porcelain. Um, no - that's not going to happen. I was as polite as I could be without hurting his feelings, but that monstrosity ended up out in the auto shop restroom.
I was really close to my former MIL. She requested that when she passed away she be cremated and her remains go to my ex husband. Okay. So after the service I was speaking to the family and my SIL pipes in with her suggestions on an urn. This girl is trailer trash tacky. I told her since it would be in our house I would pick something appropriate. She argued left & right and I finally snapped, "SIL Finger Hut doesn't sell funeral urns, now STFU". I bought a beautiful set of blue & white ware, like 9 pieces, including 2 ginger jars, one of which would house MIL. It didn't look remotely like the "shrine" SIL pictured, mainly because it was a very tasteful display. When FIL passed away she called and asked if she could have the matching urn for him. Hmmm.
