As for items that look like cameras but aren't, such as jewelry, home decor, etc.......well I think the recipient would wish you had spent that money on actual camera equipment. Or on a photography book. Anything other than non-useful stuff in the shape of a camera.
If you don't know what to give your photographer friends, the best last resort is a gift certificate to either Freestyle photo or B+H camera.
