There have been a lot of talks and discussions about how different generations are and how that affects them understanding each other and getting along. Having this in mind, Reddit user @Prolificvisions decided to ask: “Gen Z, what are some trends, ideologies, social things, etc. that millennials did that you're not going to continue?” The question that got 12.4k upvotes got generation Z naming things that they find weird and annoying, such as not having any privacy or choosing a stable job that they don’t like instead of going for their dream. They also named some of the rather funny answers such as getting rid of the fashion of “weird-a** eyebrows.”

If you are Gen Z, what things would you say “bye” to? Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below!

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. You don't get offended on other peoples behalf. You stand up for what is right because it is right.

Bit why should the next generation be any different to the generations before. Generations have been hating on those that came before and after since before we started assigning trendy labels to them. (Incidentally, what came before the Silent Generation?)

This. Even in a very progressive city in California, it was extremely normal to hear growing up in the 90s and I'm ashamed at how long it took me to understand how ignorant and hateful it is. Now I have a visceral reaction when my older siblings say it, and I try to encourage better ways of expressing themselves when I hear it!

They can't use the data that you do not provide. Make it your second nature on social media to lie just about anything and be a pregnant 72 year old female lumberjack working in the Sahara while living in Washington DC with a awfully long daily commute and a craving for pickled herring with pineapple pizza and Budweiser beer.

30 Millennial Trends Gen Zers In This Online Group Are Sick And Tired Of Work for money, not for passion.

I know it’s depressing but recently a lot of younger millennials were talking about how they want to do something they like. My coach is getting a PhD in history, My economics teacher is going to Law School because she doesn’t make enough etc. and I just can’t think of a reason to justify that much debt. Basically they’re putting themselves in tons of debt to make enough money in something they enjoy. I can’t see a reason to justify it enough. I just want to find a field I’m GOOD at and don’t hate.

No. That’s not what cancellation is. There is no cancel culture. Just people like you who call any form of criticism “cancelling”, getting it all wrong because you weren’t part of the culture that started using the phrase to begin with.

Not exactly. Boycotting is a form of protest tha involves you only. You choose not to watch this movie or this serie. Cancelling something or someone prevents everybody to attend a concert, an ehxibition, or have he possibility to buy a book, a magazine,... all this from the will of a minority, using questionable methods sometimes.

Exactly. Culture IS cancel culture. Don’t like a product, person, artist, way of thinking, type of political movement? Don’t give it the oxygen of publicity or engage with it. If it is meant to die or disappear then it will. Capitalism will help too, if a product or artist isn’t selling then they’ll fall by the wayside.

Let’s not call it this. It is holding people accountable for their actions- if it was actions in the past and they were able to thrive since with no repercussions then yes! Hold them accountable! The same argument was made about being politically correct.

Calling out an adult for something they said when they were a teenager is extreme example. They aren't able to move beyond past because they are cancelled for it.People grow up, people evolve, become different people. They aren't given any credit or possibly they are changed people. People make mistakes, especially as teens. Even law enforcement gives them more credit for change.

The whole term should be cancelled. It is another B.S. way to label something because people don't want to understand complexity in certain issues. The label still means you don't have a clue about anything you are talking about.

I agree that in certain instances it can go too far or be unproductive. But a lot of s**t needed to be cancelled, if we're honest. Too many people not held accountable for their actions for far too long.

I think that the problem is how out of hand it has gotten. If a actress just said something terribly racist or a politician raped a girl then they should be punished. But dont cancel a person for something they did 20 years ago when it was not seen as problematic...

30 Millennial Trends Gen Zers In This Online Group Are Sick And Tired Of I say this as a "millennial" (though must point out the lines between the two are blurred aren't they?) -

Facebook

I have friends also in their early 30s who had kids young. In high school now, teenagers. NONE of that age group use Facebook. It's an "old person's thing" to them. Though being 12/13 it is invariably described as "gay", but you get my point.

As someone who works in the music industry, we plough literally millions (collectively) into Facebook ads each year. But within the next few years it will no longer be our primary social media target.

Which is a shame, because as one of the first and most established social media platforms, it has great advertising tools.
