Damn! The night really was dark and full of terrors. But thank you, Melisandre, for liting up our screens. It would have been a pity to miss out on the reportedly longest battle sequence ever put on film. Director Miguel Sapochnik told Entertainment Weekly he couldn't find a longer battle scene in a movie. The closest was the 40-minute siege of Helm's Deep in "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," which has become the gold standard for epic cinematic combats. Naturally, after the fans of the HBO series devoured the Battle of Winterfell, they flooded social media to post their reactions to it. Here are some of the best of recent Game of Thrones memes!

I think I said OMG at least a dozen times after she came out of nowhere and killed the NK. Best scene ever and I'm still pumped about it.
If you look at Sapochnik's resume, it becomes pretty obvious why he was chosen as director for this episode. He shot "Hardhome" and "Battle of the Bastards" -- arguably the two most intense and acclaimed action sequences the show has done before season 8.
"What we have asked the production team and crew to do this year truly has never been done in television or in a movie," says co-executive producer Bryan Cogman. "This final face-off between the Army of the Dead and the army of the living is completely unprecedented and relentless and a mixture of genres even within the battle. There are sequences built within sequences built within sequences. David and Dan [wrote] an amazing puzzle and Miguel came in and took it apart and put it together again. It’s been exhausting but I think the plot twists will blow everybody away."
One of the biggest directorial challenges was figuring out which Game of THrones character to focus on in each scene when so many heroes are involved. "The [GoT battles] I've done previously were generally from Jon's perspective," Sapochnik said. "Here I’ve got 20-some Game of Thrones cast members and everyone would like it to be their scene. That’s complicated because I find the best battle sequences are when you have a strong point of view. I keep thinking: 'Whose story am I telling right now?'"
Part of Sapochnik’s strategy is asking the Game of Thrones actors to fill in the blanks of their story line of what happens whenever the camera focuses on somebody else. As John Bradley (the actor who portrays Samwell Tarly) said, "We may not have seen Sam for 10 minutes but something has happened to Sam in those 10 minutes — you’ve been fighting, or you’ve been running, or you’ve been hiding. How has your story developed? You have to hold in your mind what’s happened since we saw you last."
"We built this massive new part of Winterfell and originally thought, 'We’ll film this part here and this part there,' and basically broke the Game of Thrones plot down into so many pieces it would be shot like a Marvel movie, with never any flow or improvisation," Sapochnik added. "Even on Star Wars, they build certain parts of the set and then add huge elements of green screen. And that makes sense. There’s an efficiency to that. But I turned to the producers and said, 'I don’t want to do 11 weeks of night shoots and no one else does. But if we don’t we’re going to lose what makes Game of Thrones cool and that is that it feels real.'"

Of this group, Jon did 99% of the work. Arya is the teammate who only shows up right at the end, makes a clutch shot, and gets all the credit.
Why didn't he warg into one of the dragons? Wtf was the crow supposed to do?
Well, they were battling the Darkness after all...that´s my guess on why this episode was so dark making it literally so difficult to watch, like experiencing a world full of darkness in anticipation to victory.
The idea to make the episode so dark (literally) was brilliant! First, it put an accent on the grim atmosphere, second it gave a whole new dimension to the chaotic combat!
when he wargs into multiple ravens, it's to see what his opponents are doing, in the hopes that he can focus more and more accurately upon potential outcomes. he tells theon that he's a good man, and thanks him, at that specific time, to solidify theon's determination to protect bran -- the only bait that can draw the nk to that particular place, at that particular time, in order to delay the nk for a few minutes more -- giving arya time to get into position. 2/2
Think we almost knew it but still, the tension, it was so darn good!
How bad ass was it, though? He fucking took out dozens of white walkers and then the Night King himself was the one who took him out! Much better to be killed by the Night King than one of his zombie lackies.
Other than getting other people killed for several seasons and then sitting there like a target, what has Bran contributed? Other than the creepy stares, of course.
Well, Bran told everyone what Little finger did, revealed John his real name (true, together with Sam), gave Arya the dagger... But this battle, I agree, he sucked (I'm not being sarcastic).
After all she did in the past (Shireen), I think Melisandre finally found redemption in S8E3.
Maybe it's just me, but I know I read "Game of Thrones" in the headline and that tells me that this article is based on "Game of Thrones" so, for the life of me, why would anybody bother to read this article if you neither like nor watch "Game of Thrones" ... it's almost like you're seeking attention rather than just actually not caring and moving on to a more relevant article ... I was on the edge of my seat the entire episode. I was so afraid everyone was going to die and we had to be stuck with just Cersei's plot line. I cried during the scene with Tyrion and Sansa. I feel they'll get married after it's all said and done. Arya though. She's my spirit animal.
Tyrion kissing Sansa´s hand was the sweetest moment amidst so much chaos.
I actually cried because I thought they were going to kill off Tyrion right then and there
3 episode was just fantastic!! I'd prepared a lot of snacks to eat while watching, but couldn't eat a bite because of excitement))
