“Safety First!”: This Online Group Is Dedicated To The Dumbest Work Safety Examples, Here Are 50 Of The Worst (New Pics)
What happens when people start to pretend they’re immortal? Not just any people, but those who work in potentially dangerous or even hazardous circumstances. Think of construction workers, crane operators, bridge painters… disregarding the most basic health and safety regulations. Or maybe, even worse, having to work under such conditions due to their apathetic employers.
Nothing good comes out of this, let me tell you. The legendary subreddit OSHA has set out on a mission to educate people about staying safe at work by showing what incidents lurk around the corner. It also has a touch of humor, so it’s not all that serious, but one thing is clear: “Safety First!” people!
Scroll down through our new batch of selections from the community and be sure to check out our previous features on OSHA here, here and here.

New Job. The Guy Showing Me What To Do Climbs Into A 2500 Gallon Mixer To Clean It
There's no lock out tag out and nothing about the confined space. I told him they can fire me if they expect me to climb in there
Instead of cremation, this man is choosing to become a self-smoothie.

Oh I would not want to find that so sorry for who did
Load More Replies...It's not on you to get fired for refusing. It's on the company to provide safe work. That's the law.
Worker's rights, Alberta, Canada: 1 - the right to refuse dangerous work and know that you’re protected from reprisal, 2 - the right to know about workplace hazards and have access to basic health and safety information, 3 - the right to participate in health and safety discussions and health and safety committees
In Case Of Emergency: Just Pass Away Lmao
Ok so it's right 3 times, left 2 times, or was it right 4 times? F*ck!
Where are you actually allowed to keep drugs in a work first aid kit though- everywhere I've worked you aren't even allowed to ask a colleague for paracetamol from their personal bag! If you require drugs for a work place accident you have to wait for an ambulance :)

I Used To Work At An Auto Shop, This Was One Of The Lifts For Vehicles
Totally unsafe, however all car lifts have "locks", so even if the wire breaks, the car only falls to next lock stage (few centimetres). So no crushing would happen.
A service station in my old neighborhood lost a 26 year old mechanic when a car collapsed on him. This should be reported to OSHA before someone gets hurt.
What are you talking about? There is still lots of good cable under the frayed part🤣
Every employer’s duty is to provide a work environment for its employees that’s up to date and in compliance with state and local regulations. That means that most often, employers and HR rely upon the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to issue guidance. Another important source of rules and guidance for companies is the ones issued by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and any of its state divisions, like Cal/OSHA.
Hope The Fire Isn’t Too Big
There's nothing to report to the local fire marshal. The common thought today is to get the people out of the way of danger rather than having them attempt to control the danger and possibly creating a worse situation.
Load More Replies...In this case, YOU are the fire hose. You are expected to chug all that water and put the fire out yourself, camping-style.

I have a bad fear of heights, just looking at this makes me feel terrified. Everything is tingling, and not in a good way:(
Load More Replies...If I'd hired people to do work on my building/house/business and saw them doing this I'd fire them immediately - if they're this shoddy with their own lives, I can't even imagine how shoddy their actual work is.
I don't see anything wrong -at all- with how this "super" ladder is twisting. /s
How Many Companies Do This Lol?
Good to see the worksite is still living in the dark ages, assuming wearing pink makes you less of a man.
Exactly. Pink is not a colour that should be used to shame. Also my son would rock that vest, his fav colour is pink.
Load More Replies..."At the beginning of the 20th century, some stores began suggesting “sex-appropriate” colors. In 1918 the trade publication Earnshaw’s Infants’ Department claimed the “generally accepted rule is pink for the boys, and blue for the girls. The reason is that pink, being a more decided and stronger color, is more suitable for the boy, while blue, which is more delicate and dainty, is prettier for the girl.” https://www.britannica.com/story/has-pink-always-been-a-girly-color
Exactly, Frank - it's all a human construct. Wear what you want!
Load More Replies...That company should have a pink banner with "we do not provide compulsory PPE to workers".
But you don't know that. Maybe the company provided gear is the PPE he left at home. It doesn't necessarily mean he had to buy his own, just that he didn't remember the PPE issued to him.
Load More Replies...Yes is does shame lol people but I bet he never forgot his s**t again
This to make him have a standout effect. My dad used this to his advantage at his job of being a welder. His tools were constantly going missing so he painted everything pink like bubblegum pink and no one messed with them anymore
my BF worked at an RV repair shop with a lot of toxic masculinity (surprise). after getting sick of his co-workers borrowing his tools and never returning them, he ended up replacing them all with pink handled tools and never lost another one.
Load More Replies..."If you go back to the 18th century, little boys and little girls of the upper classes both wore pink and blue and other colors uniformly," said Valerie Steele, director of the Museum at FIT, the Fashion Institute of Technology, in New York. In fact, pink was even considered to be a masculine color. In old catalogs and books, pink was the color for little boys, said Leatrice Eiseman, a color expert and executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
I've read through the comments and all I see are conversations about boys/men wearing the color pink. My first take was that the man's vest saying "I forgot my PPP", which means that now or at some point, he purposely wasn't wearing a mask during this pandemic. Then I thought that he should be wearing a vest that was a bright neon color. That pink wouldn't stand out. Both those things are the safety issues for me. I don't care if he rocks that color when he's not working...I actually would love to see a man wearing it in public!
Every year, OSHA unveils the Top 10 OSHA violations. The most recent list was announced on Oct. 12, 2021 during the 2021 NSC Safety Congress & Expo event in Orlando, Florida, and unsurprisingly, this list hardly changes. This may feel like a broken record that keeps on playing, but it’s still vital to proactively identify hazards and train employees to work safely and minimize risks at all times.

I can feel the potential hurt in my testicles, just by looking at this pic.
If one of my contractors had ever done something like this, they’d never be allowed through the door again.
Generally, there's a first and last time you do this...usually they follow in quick succession!
I think this person must have been doing this for a long time... I don't think it would be easy to step from the actual step onto the hinge without holding on to something, so they must have reached up to grab something sturdy in the ceiling to hold on to, right?
Great! Does your company source with trapezist artists too? Lion tamers?
By Counting The Rings You Can Determine This Tire Is Too Old
I checked the original Reddit post and you are correct. OP stated it's a container handler, like a forklift but with a different lifting setup. And unlike some forklifts these are not solid tires, but pneumatic/air-filled.
Load More Replies...At my former employer, they'd run their fleet until the metal on their tires sometimes would show through and you couldn't get an OSHA inspector there. OSHA would call the boss to say they'd had a complaint only leaving us to suffer the consequences of their inquiry as to who ratted then out. But nothing got fixed. Welcome to the real world. I can't believe any workplace gets inspected. The Republicans do what they want to their employees without consequence.
OSHA is not supposed to call the employer, but is to show up. Sounds like the inspector is in cahoots with the employer in some way.
Load More Replies...I encountered worse than this when a woman brought her car in to a service station I worked at. Once up on the lift trying to diagnose why her vehicle was " riding rough " I saw much worse wear than this. I told her we could not let the vehicle leave the shop in that condition. She said her husband would " kill her " if she bought tires. She said he takes care of all the automotive purchases. I found myself wondering if he really would wind up killing her one way or another. After more back and forth she finally had us put replacements on. I said she could send the spouse down to discuss our interfence in their automotive purchases. I really wanted to get a look at this guy but he never showed.
We had a heavy duty fork lift with dual front tires like this. If one blew while transporting a heavy load, you could be in for a slight problem. All the weight would be over the remaining tire and you'd have to pray it could take the weight by itself. At least the steering is done by the rear tires on these. But yeah, that tire is long overdue to be replaced. As an aside note, not all material moving is done inside. Sometimes it's outside, and if you ran over something that tire could blow.
For the mind-blowing 11th year in a row, Fall Protection – General Requirements maintained its No. 1 position. Fall Protection, 1926.501 has been the number one most cited violation for years even though the fall protection standard is designed to prevent falls. According to statistics, it accounts for just about 40 percent of deaths in the construction industry. This suggests that the majority of fall accidents happen on residential work sites.
A Truck That Barely Strapped On Its Cargo
This is not "loaded by an idiot" they're roof trusses!! They're triangular!! What did you expect them to look like on their sides?
Load More Replies...I've seen "Final Destination" so there is no way I'd drive anywhere near this truck!
This is definitely the U.S. and yes, you will get pulled over for it.
Load More Replies...Believe it or not, this is loaded correctly for balance. My ex hubby did roof truss engineering and this is how they are always loaded and secured.
Just because it is balanced doesn't mean it's properly loaded. This should have been a multiple truck delivery and somebody cheaped out. I was a loader for a large construction distributor for years and this would never have left our facility.
Load More Replies...That was done by someone who's absolutely done with their employer 🤣
That is disgraceful. If he hits a bump, the whole load could shift and fall on an unsuspecting driver. It won't be me, though. I would take another route to avoid this guy.
The load isn't going anywhere. It's roof trusses, they're triangular. It is not regular lumber loaded on an angle.
Load More Replies...Hate To Be The Guy To Ruin A 13 Year Safety Streak
This kind of company pride c**p encourage people not to report any injuries. Exactly what the company wants. They don't care about your safety, they only want to shift the blame away from themselves
And it keeps their Work Comp claims down. Been there - I was a work comp specialist for 11 years. After the company stopped giving out safety awards, w/c claims tripled!
Load More Replies...The company I retired from had annual safety awards. Usually a Walmart gift card + a pizza party. Every year without an injury, the gift card amount increased. Then the bosses realized that workplace injuries weren't being reported, and when anyone *did* report an injury, they were ostracized & bullied by co-workers. That was the end of safety award gift cards, and my workload, as work comp specialist, tripled. I handled W/C claims for 250+ field sales reps, 6 warehouses, and 45 retail stores. I am so happy to be retired now!
Lol, this happened to my Dad once. The whole factory was about to get a bonus (or a big bbq, can't remember) because of their long safety streak. He managed to get his big toe pinched under a very heavy piece of steel. He needed stitches so it was recorded as an official incident so the factory lost the streak and their reward. PS, thank goodness he had steel reinforced safety boots.
Imagine the reactions. "Dammit Dave! Did you really have to go and break your foot like that? Well, I hope youre happy you broke our streak."
No, it was the 20th day of the 12th month of 2021 - this is in the U.S., so we write the dates opposite of most of the world. As most petulant toddlers do, the comparatively young U.S. has a complex about doing everything the opposite way.

Load More Replies...Quick question, why put it so high and not spead it out more? Also who spent the time to get a ldder and get it that high?
Well yeah , It is Trashmart, the underpaid workers don't get paid enough to care about safety
To prevent fall injuries and fatalities, it is critical that employers supply their workers with guardrail systems, safety net systems or personal fall arrest systems when working at heights. In addition to just providing proper fall protection, the employer is also responsible for ensuring that all employees are trained on how to properly use fall protection and know when to use it.
The Ascension
That can be quite good. If they use proper equipment, there is nothing dangerous about this one. He can be even insulated from possible electric shock, the crane will not slip like a ladder would and he doesn't have to climb, they will lift him there.
This is extremely dangerous, that's a fall arrest harness. If you spend more than 15 mins hanging in one of these you are supposed to call an ambulance before releasing, the blood trapped in your legs becomes toxic and when you release the weight it re-enters your system and you can die really fast. Look it up, it's called suspension trauma
Load More Replies...This is considered one of the 'good' ones compared to the rest in this list.
Possibly a solar cell repair for a street light.
Load More Replies...When Your Breaker Keeps Tripping
The amount of time it took to find and stack those bricks (plus balance the box on top) might have been better spent actually securing the box.
...or actually FIXING the fault causing it to trip!
Load More Replies...I'm no electrician, but I'm assuming that if the breaker keeps flipping, that means there's a problem that needs addressed. Damn.
When I was a kid our fuse box had the screw in fuses. Dear old dad had several 'fixed' by the penny trick method.
Probably the same place that got rid of the fire hose.
Load More Replies...Holding the breaker closed (in the "on" position) won't keep it from tripping. It will still trip internally. That's how a breaker works. This looks like they're trying to hold a southern fried contraption in place rather than dangling by the wires. Not that it's better, just another likely explanation. And just as dumb.
Not to knock countries, but I've seen similar stuff done in India.

Now that efficient! Just unchain it at 10 mph and let him roll out to the job site.
As for OSHA’s top 10 list, the notable changes in 2021 included Hazard Communication (No. 5) falling three spots from its 2020 ranking of No. 2; Ladders (No. 3) rising two spots from No. 5 in 2020; and Powered Industrial Trucks (No. 9) falling two spots from No. 7 the previous year.
The deputy director of OSHA'S Directorate of Enforcement Programs, Patrick Kapust, urges employers and workers to review this list of violations and assess their own workplace. “Employers need to make sure their employees are protected. The Top 10 tells us what OSHA is finding over and over again on a routine basis. Employers, use the list as a tool to assess your own workplace,” Kapust said.
Safety Warning In A Hospital
I don't have arm rest guards on my manual wheelchair and have never had this happen. You've got to be very stupid and bendy to be able to do this!
Some people in wheelchairs have limited control over their movement, i.e. someone with muscle spasms. I could see it happening someone could get their arm stuck in the wheel.
Load More Replies...The staff has a talented cartoonist. The day his skills finally came unhandy...
That wheelchair shouldn't even be available for use - it needs to be locked up in the maintenance closet.
Why is it even made available for use with the possibility they both might not be there?!?!
The arm guard is in place and he still got his arm stuck but nice drawing though lol
There is no arm guard on the side where the arm is trapped.
Load More Replies...It took longer to make this sign than it would have taken to look at the chair to see if it had both arm guards.
Why not remove this chair from use? Why have it around waiting for an accident if it can't be repaired?
Ladder To Hell, I'ma Right?
Are those coffin carrier dancers on the balcony? I'm wondering if that's a humorous photoshop
I don't understand how the strap helps. It's not on his body, so if the ladder slips, he still falls.
It’s fine, it’s just a bungee cord attached to his neck.
Load More Replies...My dad fell off a ladder at work, onto another smaller ladder, peed blood, went to hospital, bruised kidneys, signed him off work for 6 weeks. Went back for a checkup before they let him return to work, they realised they'd never actually x-rayed him, tada! Broken back! He'd spent his 6 weeks off renovating the garden and laying a new patio. In fairness to his employer, they gave him early retirement after that, he around 60 at the time.

There's A Story Behind Every Sign
The sign is for me. I'd be the one running into that wall every time I'm in a rush
Me too! I am blind in one eye though so theres that lol... I am constantly walking into things or bending down to get something and bam! have a scar on my forehead from the many times I have split my head open on the blind side..🥴
Load More Replies...Yeah.. okay.. who thought making the wall like that was a good idea though?
I laughed so hard at this that my neighbour's must be worried for their safety right now. I also need this sign for me. I'm ashamed to admit how many times I've walked into the wall dividing my kitchen from the living room. (I hate open floor plans but the day I buy this house, I'm knocking down this useless wall).
This reminds me of a couple videos i seen of people walking into something. They always seem to make me laugh for some reason. 🤣
Who Needs Ladders?
This is kind of a sigma move. Dangerous, but it's got that "We don't have ladders? Fine, I'll do it myself."
I’m guessing that this is actually a student trying to stash something like cigarettes instead of a worker
I Think This Belongs Here
For just a second, I genuinely thought the balloons were attached to his belt, like they would help hold him up. Though, honestly, at this point...they couldn't hurt
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I wish I could say I've never been here before but I worked the aquatics world and you can't set up an aquarium like this any other way. Tall aquariums suck. Longer than tall is better for set up, maintenance and the fish (they swim back and forth not up and down). A lot of businesses like builds like these and I always hated dealing with them. Most that would happen here is he'd get stuck and need his legs pulled- tank is acrylic and made to withstand a lot of pressure.
I'm starting to see a theme here... men are in most of these pictures. Go figure! ~LOL

It Works Till It Doesn't
I once saw a question, "Why some plugs have holes on the prongs?" Now I know why.
They have holes for alignment jigs during the process of molding the plastic plug around them. Since the hole spacing is dictated by standards, they can also be employed to lock a plug in place in certain kinds of extension cords.
Load More Replies...I suppose that would qualify for the "till it doesn't" requirement.

Ugh. Seriously, folks, you gotta see the WHOLE picture. There's noone in the driver's seat of the excavator. The pipe is not connected to anything on the ground. My assumption is they're using the excavator to move this thing, so the driver (the guy shown) put the bucket there and is now fixing the pipe to the arm to move it. This is about as dangerous as ANY job on a construction site is, but heck, it does make for a pseudo action packed pic if you don't think about it, right? 🙄
See my remark just above as to how one is supposed to hook the chain. Never put yourself in such a predicament, especially if you're by yourself. The chances are slim, but imagine if a hydraulic line let go and the boom goes down - quickly.

Contracting In A Building In Melbourne, We Had A Fire Alarm Test This Morning And These Bins Appeared Around An Hour Later
We once had a fire drill in the hospital and afterwards a patient who used a wheel chair told me that she was searching for people or an exit in the basement because the lift was not working and she did not know what was going on as there is no fire alarm in the basement. In another hospital there was a unexpected fire alarm and later during an fire emergency instruction, a nurse said that he was alone with 30+ patients, some of them unable to move on their on, and really did not know what to do.
My thoughts exactly! The brand name on the dumpsters is hilariously coincidental.
Load More Replies...That's about right. I've experienced this sort of thing in a workplace - mostly blocking the door with a huge metal filing cabinet; doing weeks of massive mods which include cutting through brick in an open office while everyone works (and not bothering to cover the computers); another place expecting the disabled person to use the stairs because the front door ramp was only for customers; and of course retail stores blocking aisles with shelves and goods as displays. Oh, and using the disabled toilet as storage, or of course blocking the wheelchair user by also using it as a baby changing room with changing table taking up the space needed to navigate.

In Case Of Fire, Grab A Sword And Don't Let The Monsters Escape
its a push door so you can still get out fast but still irresponsible and illegal
Not really though. The door might still be openable, but all that shít in front of it is a MAJOR trip hazard. When a building is on fire, the thick smoke makes it almost pitch black inside. Especially if you're not near the actual flames (as you wouldnt be, since you'd be running FROM them). In the dark and chaos and panic, you'd be trying to run straight out that door. Even if you knew perfectly well beforehand that there was shít in front of them, you would NOT rember that, in the moment. You wouldn't be able to see it. You'd run right into it, and fall right on your face. And you probably wouldn't be able to get back up, because the people behind you, who are as panicked as you are, are trying to get out just as hard as you were. You'd be trampled, and injured. If you're lucky, firefighters or bystanders would pull you out. If not...
Load More Replies...I see this all the time in the stores I work at now. They'll have doors blocked that clearly say Do Not Block. You can report that to OSHA! Fire safety exits should NOT be blocked whatsoever and EXIT signs should be on at all times. (I had to take a bunch of safety tests to be able to work in theatre as a technician).

That's not actually a multi-lane highway. The lane to the left is a turn lane, must turn left. The area to the right isn't actually a traveling lane (solid white line)

These idiots literally kill people and have no idea, they just merrily carry on driving.
That is 1 emergency break away from flying through your windshield and crushing you. There was an incident with iron bars that actually scewered a guy like that.
I noticed that too - looked up the area code - it's Smyrna, Georgia, in the Atlanta area. SMH.
Load More Replies...Step Ladders Are Overrated
I was a teacher for 30 years. You can't get a ladder without being ladder-trained but you can't get ladder-trained unless you are a custodian so you have to write in the job book to have them do the job which often has a 3 week delay.
This is a teacher. If it isn't this, it will never get completed in a timely manner. Welcome to public school.
It wasn't tall enough. Safer than putting the step ladder on the cart too.
Oh geez... All it would take is one person in a hurry walking past and they're in trouble.
Pour Yourself A Coffee, There's A Bit To Digest Here
I think this is the "I would never believe that will work" look.
Load More Replies...I’ve attached a sawzall to a 20 foot pole and used some line to rig a pull for the trigger. I see nothing wrong with trying to do your job safer or more effectively even if it looks weird to other people. The poor guy probably has to drill thousands of these holes
Agreed! And that's some impressive understanding of mechanical advantages!
Load More Replies...I agree....but can we appreciate the inventiveness of it, like damn.
Obvious (and disputed) issue aside, the guy is also not wearing any respiratory protection. Silica dust from drilling concrete is not something to mess around with.
Also, he isn't wearing any eye protection. (Any comments on safety squints could be seen as offensive I would think.)
Load More Replies...And yet, unlike every other thing here, that actually gets the human being out of the way of the dangerous bit, instead of putting them into it.
This is probably safer than standing on a ladder getting dust and debris in your eyes, hair, ears, nose and lungs. Drilling overhead with one of those is harder than you'd think.
But it's a good idea (only the idea, not the execution) for roof drilling.
Tell The Firefighters To Bring Their Chainsaw
It’s poorly maintained and probably against the law to leave a tree growing through it. However, nobody is in danger here. It’s a valve for a sprinkler system and the fire department would only need to turn it off (not on) once the fire was under control. They also have to be chained up by law (it’s chained up into an ON position to make the sprinklers work).
Probably shows the place has a decent fire safety record if those have been left long enough for the tree to grow through the valve.
Load More Replies...Lol. These threads are full of workplace safety professionals. I can tell by the comments. Me included. Probably watching on the clock. We show pictures like this all the time and ask our employees "What do you see wrong here? lol.
Every business has to be fire inspected every yr to see if its up to code. Don't know how this got passed inspected.

Another Day In The Military
Military operates by different rules. In this case all the Commander has to do is determine that it is "mission essential" to continue to work in the building. Then he/she has to do a risk assessment (or, more probably, the unit Safety Officer does it for them) that basically says "I am aware of the problem, I have assessed the heightend risk involved, and I have a plan to mitigate the risk involved"
Load More Replies...Well... at least they tell you that the fire system is not working. In many places you do not know until it is needed.
Repairs are scheduled to be completed: NEVER. For additional information call: NO ONE.
Probably a Marine base somewhere. That's been our life story for generations. Lol!
Which military? I mean considering the language of the sign there's not a lot of options and I would guess the US but I could be wrong.
Who Needs Fuses Anyway?
Had a friend of mines father do this in his truck with paper clips. His radio fuse kept blowing. 2 days later the truck burned to the ground.
I have no idea what's happening in this picture. Someone plz explain? Thank you
A fuse is an in-built "weak point" in an electrical circuit. So if something doesn't work right, the fuse blows out and the circuit is interrupted, which makes (for example) the lights go dark. They blow out because there's an issue, though, so if the issue isn't fixed, fuses will continue to blow out. This person here found that annoying and instead of fixing the issue, he (I'm assuming... ) threaded the wires across where the fuse belongs so the circuit won't be broken and the machine/light/whatever will continue to work. Until your house burns down or something, because the issue is probably a bad issue.

This one is actually fine. Top ladder is fixed to the construction and lower has attachment hooks. The only problem is length of it which is compensated by the vehicle.
I'm going to guess your day-to-day life does not involve ladders. This is not safe. Don't do it. Putting ladders on a vehicle is a very stupid thing to do

Our Toolbox Sheets Come Pre-Filled Out. Everyone Is Fit For Duty, All The Time, No Matter What
How do we know this isn't just the first or last sheet of a stack, the example that shows how it should be filled out.
You would need an instruction to explain how checkmarks work? #OnlyInAmerica
Load More Replies...There is no way, none, that most worksite inspection folks I know of would accept a preprint filled in ! It has to be the "best case scenario" example showing what HAS to be checked whether yes or no. I've seen them before.
If you have few uncheck too, than this is fine. You know, who wants to check all those thing everyday? And if you need uncheck only once in a month, this will work
Indeed - every shift! ‘Frank, did you get enough sleep last night?’ ‘Boris, are you keeping the drug use just to the weekend still?’ ‘Fred - I don’t think you’re performing today’s toolbox stretches correctly’.

Who Needs To Strap Down A Load?
I remember when a guy carrying sheet metal slammed his brakes on (1970s UK) and it wasn't fastened down - went straight through the cab, cutting the 2 guys in there in half.
I remember a story about a guy with a load of lumber ( a stack of 2x4s taller than the cab) that wasn't properly tied down. Same thing happened, but the guy was alone - except for the troop of guardian angels that saved his life! It was a literal miracle that he wasn't killed.
Load More Replies...We once had a driver collect a bale of traffic poles probably 25ft long, they are stacked and strapped in a honeycomb pattern. This means that if there is poor uniformity in the diameters middle ones come loose. Infe one hitting the brakes a middle pole slid right through the buldhead, below the drivers elbow and decapitated the gear shifter. He got out of the truck and left it on the side of the motorway, he never drove for us again
Ah, that's some pretty thick and heavy rebar or something similar. He's good.
Installing Solar Panels. One Guy Has A Harness But Isn't Tied Off, The Other Has No Harness. The Rope Is For Attaching To The Panels, But Is So Long That The Panel Would Hit The Ground
Yeah roofers don’t live with the same rational fear of falling to their deaths like the rest of us ground people.
My father's fallen off of three roofs in his life. He's never hit the ground, though - always managed to grab something on the way down.
Load More Replies...Same thing happend in my town. The church cross got a new layer of gold leafs and the man doing so, 54 meter (177 feet) in the air, had his safety line was hooked to the lightning rod!! I have picture when he's standing on the crossbar (right word?) and he offered the photografer to stand on the top of the cross on one leg like a rooster. They politly declined. 🙂
Meh. That roof is barely a 40 degree angle. I just don't think that you even need safety gear until it's over 45 degrees. ... I'm not entirely joking here; I was up on my roof checking stuff out a couple weeks ago, and it's about a 50 degree angle. I wouldn't actually WORK up there without a harness, but just climbing up and looking seems fine.
Not so hig, so only bruises will reminde them for some time about this slide and fall :P
Gutter is less than 2.5 meters high. Slope of the roof will slow them down enough. Really not dangerous enough for this list
I worked for a company where occasionally roof work was required. Some coworkers were up on a two story roof, strapped into their fall protection harnesses, then draped the rope over the peak of the roof, and tied the other end to the bumper of their work van. However, they left the keys in the ignition. The boss was not at all pleased when he showed up on the job to find that. It could have ended far worse.
Check the manual. If it doesn't say the harness needs to be attached to something, he is following safety directions.
Check Insurance Before Hiring Contractor
My buddy used to do this for a living. Looks fine to me, you can see his harness connected.
Plus he knows what he's doing, as the trunk is super heavy, so he is cutting it into short lengths!
This is legit. He is tied off to the the section of tree behind him.
No. I would shoot that guy with a pellet gun. F'ing Jerk! No glasses, no helmet, no gloves. sheesh... no lanyard, no harness no nothing. Definitely no insurance. Obviously the lowest bid.
and his rope is secured to the ground, yeah, definitely lowest bid...
Load More Replies...well yeah but, NO! No harness, no lanyard, hard hat, safety glasses. Choice of support is highly dubious given the condition of branch below him. Being a "Tree Guy" for some 20 odd years, I woulda fired him on the spot and told all my other crew to ridicule the s**t out of him. F**k that guy.
This is how my uncle, Crazy Terry died. He didn't use a harness, didn't want to wait for help, fell out of the tree. Weirdest funeral where everyone was sad but at the same time... He kinda did it to himself... And also surprised he lived to his 60s...
Sharps Container? Never Heard Of It (A Lovely View To Walk Into Work)
What’s worse? Hole filled with syringes or a hole filled with razor blades? You would think the razor blades would be sturdier and stack more solidly and you would not fall into them just land on top. Either way you’re screwed though so I pic suicide. Go out on my terms, not the jigsaws.

I assume these aquares plastics are protective caps for the left iron things. They let them out of the concrete (armed concrete) in caseyou need in the future to build another floor.

As long as the bucket is not going to drop, the ladder isn't going anywhere.

The electrical supervisor was explaining safety practices to the apprentice. The 2300 VAC switchgear had three exposed bus bars. It was inside a locked cage. He opened the cage, stepped in, and pointed to the energized bus bars. He told the apprentice to never touch anywhere within 1/2 inch of the exposed bar since the current could arc out to an exposed finger. To demonstrate, he touched near the bus bar. Sure enough, he got electrocuted. They could not get him back. I guess he emphasized his point well. The apprentice will never forget that lesson. Yes, double Darwin Award time!
