In a world full of mass-produced goods and cookie-cutter designs, DIY (Do-It-Yourself) shines differently. It's a creative craft that lets you make stuff on your own. Home is everyone's safe place, and having things you've made there adds something extra special. But sometimes, people's ideas can get so wild that their creations become a bit silly. Particularly during 2010, there was a phase when anything created through DIY was thought to be cool and aesthetic.
For example, a candlestick made out of tuna cans is bound to raise some eyebrows. Just imagine, it's a rainy day, the tea lights are flickering, and the smell of gently warmed tuna lingers around you... it's enough to make any guest want to leave early! We've curated a collection of these laughter-inducing DIY creations that people have come up with. Join us as we take a look inside and cringe. Upvote the pics that you couldn't believe are true.

This isn't even DIY. https://www.cooperhewitt.org/2013/09/20/a-frozen-explosion/
You've probably seen and heard the letters DIY everywhere, and you likely know they stand for "do it yourself." It sounds simple, but DIY can mean different things to different people.
Basically, DIY means doing things on your own instead of hiring a pro or buying stuff. It doesn't mean you can't use resources like YouTube or books for guidance – you totally can. DIY is about learning and doing things you'd usually pay others to do.
Wouldn't want it in my house, but it's a very cute idea. I can see it working well in a cute little bistro/restaurant.
Honestly, I don’t hate it. It’s really kind of quirky and cute.
I've seen this for sale and, as a cyclist, have considered getting one for our home.
From fixing a hole in your wall to cutting your hair, DIY covers a lot. It's not just crafts – it's also doing things like sewing clothes, decorating cakes, and managing your money.
Doing a craft or DIY project is a fun way to learn new things and it feels really good because you end up with something you made. You also learn a skill you can use for fun or even make money from.
I don’t like the cards per se (it looks messy to my mind), but as a creative idea, this is not bad.
I'm actually really impressed by the amount of details. On the other hand, the trademark sore loser will be trouble with this setup.

Load More Replies...Looks cool as a decorative thing for a game room wouldn't actually try too use it lol
What a great way to get the entire family involved to not only play the game, but to make the game itself! Kudos!
Idk why but the clicking of seatbelts has always been very satisfying to me, so I would very deeply enjoy this.
You can buy a seat belt extender if you dont want to chew up a regular seatbelt btw
It would be pretty cool if you could rig that somehow. There's got to be some way to do it with RFID...
Load More Replies...Okay, the DIY version is cute and creative and up cycle worthy. I hate the idea of people buying this new though.
Load More Replies...I will never understand why people find the need of saying rude things to people just because they don't like something. There's something broken in people like that and all I want to do is hug them. Although I have seen this in so many sights, I think it is genius!
Experts talk a lot about how being creative is good for you. Making things like crafts or doing DIY projects helps you relax, handle your feelings, and can make you happier and less stressed. It's also a way to learn and feel proud of what you've achieved.
Wouldn't the humidity compromise the cloth/leather? Assuming it's a bathroom cabinet. Otherwise, I really like it.
This would be an awesome and functional item for a funky Glamping location, Pretty cool !
I think this would be a fun design for holiday accommodation, like a little B&B in the country or near the beach. But I wouldn't like it at home.
Lots of people do DIY projects to save money. Doing home improvements and fixes by yourself can really save you thousands of dollars. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s latest American Housing Survey, "You can install a new roof on your home for $2,500 to $5,000 versus the $5,000 to $10,000 average to hire a professional. Or replace your home’s insulation for around $962 on average, compared to $2,937 if you contract the work out."
Cool! Put a 200W bulb under the base and it's a toaster again!
but now Jack can just use the key instead, and skip all that drama
Load More Replies...in case u just came home then theres a thief or a murderer in ur house just pull it out then catch da thief or killer lol
Dear home invasion people. Please wack us in the head and take our cars.
check the wall first, if it's wood or concrete :)
Load More Replies...Watching home renovation shows online or on TV can make it seem like anyone with a bit of money and motivation can handle DIY projects. But DIY can have downsides. It might take more time and money than expected, and you could even get hurt or end up with something worse than before. Some call DIY "destroy it yourself," and not all projects are good to do on your own.
I wanna know how they cut the bottom out of the teacups! I wanted to use some cheap coffee mugs as planters and even a diamond dust drill bit couldn't create a hole.
My thought exactly - cutting holes in porcelain is not for the novice...
Load More Replies...To anyone saying fire hazard I’m pretty sure that’s a a cheap dollar store plastic candle and it seems like the one that lights up only.
Yep not actual burning candle, battery-operated tea light.
Load More Replies...Well this post has exposed those who wouldn't have washed the tins first
Sorry, but i kinda think this one's cute. Maybe a bit too redneck-ish, but still cute.
Well, still better than plastic milk bottles turned into candle holders, with wax candles
For instance, it's smart to let professionals handle tasks like complex electrical work, roof repairs, fixing gas appliances, and projects involving chemicals. These jobs can be tricky and risky. By knowing when to do it yourself and when to ask experts for help, you'll make sure your home projects are safe and turn out well.
A lot of these are actually good ideas..
Load More Replies...I like these better than the stupid tiktok challenge of climbing stairs made of these crates
And weird smell if the handle contains plastics or glue..?
Load More Replies...Well, if you feel that you really, MUST have fire hazards in your home, this is a rather whimsical way to do it. And COMPARATIVELY safe.
might actually be a cute idea in a bakery/coffee shop, but with those plastic led candles instead of real ones.
Tea lights don't leak wax, unless you hold them at an angle, but these seem to be almost perfectly level so I doubt they would ever leak (unless maybe in some countries they're filled up to the brink, then you'd have to have them really level).
Load More Replies...I have one whisk. I've had it for 16 years - I only bought it because my previous one got mangled in the dishwasher by someone who should have known better. Who has this many whisks lying around?
Load More Replies...I'm adult sized me, and I love it.
Load More Replies...These look as though they bear an extent of uncomfortableness to sit in but gosh they would be so fun to ride around in!
just put a cushion on the bottom so its comfier to sit on and i'd call this a win
You can find at least 3 on the side of the road in less than 10 minutes in my city.
Load More Replies...If you were going to do this at least hang it the other way so you can hang stuff off the handle.
I was going to say: Hang it the other way so the largest part is the first shelf.
Load More Replies...I first read “cocaine” vibes and was super confused
Load More Replies...For some reason I can't really explain I absolutely loathe everything covered in buttons. A normal quantity on clothes is fine, but these kind of things give me the creeps. I wouldn't even touch it. It's like a phobia. I bet you there's even a name for it. Buttonophobia or something like that. I know, I'm weird. I'll see myself out.
Not weird at all. After Coraline, you can never look at buttons the same way again
Load More Replies...Look! Rather than throwing out the trash, I glued it together!! Am I not the MOST creative?!"
I quite like it as well in some weird sorta way 😊
Load More Replies...Wtf is wrong with people are all of yals kitchens nothing but a bunch of years tools
Whatever jewelry hung on there would get scratched to hell, too.
Load More Replies...Ouch imagine the skinned knuckles and fingers because the natural inclination is to run fingers under the jewelry to lift them off. Of course, it would only take a few times of that to learn to carefully use finger tips to lift items off the grater. It's a nice idea but.... the ouch factor isn't worth it.
I’d be scraping my knuckles each time I tried to get an earring out! 🤦🏽♀️
I was gonna make the same comment. You have to unscrew the top to dump the pepper out.
Load More Replies...same, thank gods i'm not the only one that saw that ☻️
Load More Replies...My mom has a holder with an open end like this. All the grown-ups in the house are able to use it without the roll falling off.
Load More Replies...That can be fixed with a food safe clear coat to preserve the patina and keep rust off your plates.
Load More Replies...When you see planted up souvenir wooden clogs from the Netherlands and think, I can do that, but I have no clogs.
It seems to be using more of a pinch grip than a tacky substance..... lol
Load More Replies...If the clothespins were upside down, it could be made to look like noses.
Not as art, but as a handy place to safely store the family's shades, I like it
Like a miniature merry-go-round but for even smaller pieces of trash? 🤔 This person's trash is not my treasure.
NOPE NOPE NOPE. Reminds me of the destructive neighbour in Toy Story. This is ugly.
This looks like something the FBI would find in a serial killer's home.
I wonder how many people had to Google that name? 🤔
Load More Replies...What’s it supposed to be? And if using the spoons as hooks, why not just nail them directly to the wall?
Took me way too long to realise the spoons are supposed to be hooks…
Ok, but wheel is still there, so your friends can bring you home when you're too drunk to walk.
Load More Replies...The legs could not have been part of an actual wheelbarrow... you would have to tilt it forward almost vertically to wheel it.
Right. My first thought was that they destroyed some beautiful chairs.
Load More Replies...Not that bad, although the choice of colours is disgraceful. *That* shade of brown in a bathroom? It seem poo-stained!
I feel sorry for the chair, being killed like that and displayed as if it was a taxidermy animal head.
If only they’d made it so the wheel would turn in the wind…
"Eustace! Time to head to the storm cellar!! The doohickey is sayin' a twister is comin'!"
Load More Replies...These are the trophies of all the plumbers that didn't manage to fix my pipes. No, I have no idea why their partners said the never came home. Why do you ask me?
Load More Replies...I feel like it would work better if you submerge them as a whole in epoxy resin but otherwise cool idea
Well that's just being resourceful. It's not ruining the skateboard and it can still be used as usual after.
Not exactly, the huidity will soil the wood
Load More Replies...I tried using my skateboard without my clothes a different way once. Cops got called
Well F! I already do this. I use them in the fridge too, don't even finish them, and stick a neodymium magnet (cuz they're really strong) on the inside. Ta-da! A little pocket on the fridge for pens, junk, whatever. Mine holds the remote to the purple lights on my Prince wall (Rogers Nelson, not monarchical).
Load More Replies...If I had pockets this large, I'd keep the pants instead of making a wall fixture.
I feel like if it wasn't jeans then maybe I would like it a little bit more but other than that really cool idea
It was a somber day for poor little Chip when he realized what became of Mrs. Potts and his siblings...
Load More Replies...i like this a lot and this would fit well in my home. Appropriately weird but functional.
saw someone making this on a youtube video yesterday. Doesn't float my boat.
I’d take one seat on this and fall to my demise. How can it be stable? One false move and and it’s all over.
I presumed the seat would be secured to the log. If it is, then it's a good idea. If not, I totally agree with you.
Load More Replies...I think it's an angry cat that is looking for its cans of food (hint- emptied out, string, plastic tea lights)...
Load More Replies...You like what you like. Never be ashamed of saying you like something. It's your choice, no explanations required.
Load More Replies...Quite beautiful. I'm off to Etsy to see if I can find one. Wish me luck y'all!
They do have quite the cute little charm to them, don't they? 😊
Load More Replies...If this is instead of a tree, plastic or alived one, i think this is a good job 😊
what is up with people using a strainer and a cheese grater and cups
I think the only thing that saves it aesthetically is the wall. The next thought would be "where is this wall?" The barn? The backyard? There's not a table that would be in arm's reach of it. It's only slightly better that cat food cans hanging from strings with plastic tealights inside of them or Barbie torso drink holders (?)
The fun part of making these is what you have to do to get the empty bottles.
I'm just drinking loads of booze for a pinterest crafting project. 😇🤷♀️
Load More Replies...If these are all Ray Conniff Singers and 101 Strings, knock yourself out
bet they have seen those fiber knife holders and copied the look without knowing it's purpose
I don't know why it reminds me of a dead animal's head hanging on the wall
In my experience, people with that many spent shotgun shells seldom need toothbrush stands
I think this would be a fun item in the right room, but definitely not my cup of tea.
This would look perfect in Kelly Kapowski's room. Or maybe Lisa Turtle.
Load More Replies...Why so many people using colanders and graters. What do they have against using them for their intended purpose?
You can probably thrift these items for next to nothing. My guess is they are cheap and fun projects.
Load More Replies...I think I must be a total basic b***h, because I like a lot of these. They seem practical, innovative, and a good way of repurposing rather than sending to landfill.
Agree. Some of them were really artsy in a good way, and I would def have them in my home.
Load More Replies...so we're taking "decor that doesn't suit my tastes' and calling it cringe. Got it.
I think the headline of the article is rude. This would be such a great post without the attitude.
This post is a mixed bag. Some of these are creative design projects about recycling/ upcycling and are really cleaver. The other half are going out of their way to copy trends (cheese grater with everything). Either way, I like the use of upcycled materials. Eg/ the clothes pin to stop the tooth brush touching the counter.
How do you know the creator made it to copy a trend? I have a collection of antique cheese graters that I sourced from junk sales. I just saw it one day and I liked it, so I got a few more. I had no idea it was trend.
Load More Replies...The title "63 Of The Worst Pics From The Pinterest Household Item DIY Era" is wrong - again. I've loved most of these ideas. I don't condone stealing carts but those ideas were useful too. For some, I would just change the color. Some others I would definitely welcome in my house, if not there already. Who decided that these would be the worst of the worse?
Hey, quick question. Do any of yall actually read the """"""article"""""" that BP includes? Because from what I read in this one, it basically just.... explained the concept of DIY. Dude.
