I have never had an abortion and dont believe that i ever would, I even have a friend that was raped and decided to keep the baby. But I still dont believe that others should have the right to decide for someone else what is right for them. I do think that there should be time limits on when they can be performed but will never believe a man should have the right to tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body.

Yea, I struggle with this one too. I think the goal should be to make abortion unnecessary, not illegal. Give these women the support they need to have the children, give better access to birth control and better support for reproductive health.

I think that the best thing would be for children to be given comprehensive sex education, for women to be given access to affordable contraception, and for single mothers and poor families to be given plenty of help and support. That way few women will need abortions in the first place.

Some Anti-abortionists are not in the same league as the westboro baptists--but some are. For instance, a law was passed (last year?) In Texas that demands that in case of abortion or miscarriage, a funeral must be held. I can't tell you how traumatic this would be for women who have had miscarriages (why are they being punished) and do not want a funeral, what a punitive act of public shaming for women who've had abortions. That is reason alone to leave the state.

I appreciate your honest reflection, Herb. Whether you believe abortion is murder or not, it shouldn't ever be something to celebrate or even joke about. It's painful emotionally and physically for the women who go through it. And those that oppose it (except for a few radicals) are coming from a good place.

I am sorry but unless I wanted to be, if I became pregnant I would abort the child. I do not want to go through childbirth or pregnancy. It's my body, my choice. The baby is barely developed, it doesn't know it's being aborted.

Dreamworld, obviously you haven't seen how evil it is to be forced to bring up a child you don't want. Or even better, give birth and abandon them. Or EVEN BETTER, give birth and kill them. Some people have no choice. Would you think the same if you were born in a family that doesn't love you?

Abortion is he saddest, most horrible experience any woman can have, but if your partner chooses to not support your pregnancy, and pretends it is not his problem, than carrying the pregnancy for 9 months and giving up your child for adoption is evil. Those who have never been pregnant, and I have been several times, have no idea what kind of bond is created from the first minute the pregnancy is realized in the mind. Thus the heartbreak if an abortion is necessary. Putting more abandonment and foster abuse to this world is a crime, and specially when the pregnancy is the fruit of abuse or rape. Women who choose abortion do so for necessity not convenience and if you even imagine otherwise then the evil is coming from you. Talk to your Congress, have them stop regulating women's care like it was optional care instead of necessary, have them stop treating a uterus as a preexisting condition and other options might be available. The amount of children in the system at this time screams need, adding to that pool benefits no one, unless your a Caucasian perfect health child, then you have a chance.
