Some find them frustrating, while others just can’t get enough – Optical illusions are something that will always leave you perplexed and questioning your eyesight. We all know the classic eye trick with a young girl turning into an old lady portrait or sets of geometric figures that turn out to be of a different size than it appeared. Optical illusions are images that differ from the objective reality and also can be sorted into three categories – optical, physiological and cognitive – each with minor differences in the illusion pictures. But how do they work?
Basically, it’s our minds trying to find the easiest way to look at things. At first glance, we try to relate the image with the most basic and close interpretation of it, and only after a few seconds do we realize that separate details of the image don’t even make sense. Optical illusion drawings cause no harm to your vision or brain – in fact, it helps in developing complex problem-solving skills. The element of surprise is also what gets us in the so-called perfectly timed pictures: first, we see one thing, but then it can be deconstructed into something else. I think on her shirt the sleeves have fuzzy white cuffs, and it’s blending into the cat. His left paw is under the cuff.

I didn't get it either until Bob Evans's explanation that the cat's "tail" is actually the left cuff of the woman's sweater. The fur on the cuffs matches the color of the cat. Her right fur cuff is under the cat's neck, as the cat leans away from her over her arm. (I think)
