As long as people throw around some questionable bits of wisdom like it's no big deal, we have the unofficial karma police, aka ‘murderers by words.’ Except murder by words has nothing to with violence, weapons, or blood, which makes the act inherently peaceful, yet brutally powerful.
It’s because the fight is fueled by words, but not by any words. I mean witty, well-argued, and solid arguments that pierce straight through misinformation, fake news, and any other online BS that's so prominent these days. The targets can be anyone from Covid deniers to anti-vaxers to flat earthers and extreme right Trump supporters who support the Capitol riots or similar bursts of terror. And when the words come back, they do so with double the initial power.

Poor Ben. It wasn't just regret over his son's death. His wife was the Revolutionary War equivalent of an anti-vaxxer and was why their son wasn't vaccinated. When he became ambassador after the war, he never returned despite her repeated inquiries over the years asking when he would return. He didn't return until after she died. Antivaxxers had always been a problem... They are dangerous for themselves and for the innocent people they try to fool. Even good king Louis XVI has had to have his entire family and himself publicly vaccined against smallpox so people stop dying from a painful preventable disease. I have a long story about catching rubeola ("hard") measles in 1957, when I was in second grade. Long before there was a vaccine (1970s). I hate anti-vaxxers who are willing to expose their children to what I went through and say, "but you lived through it!" My children and grandchildren didn't have to live through it because they got their vaccines.
We also survived without condoms against stds/stis but... No thanks. Surviving and being healthy are different.

The guy who invented vaccines- Edward Jenner(or at least the smallpox one). He thought it was a good idea. If the boy he injected the vaccine into, then the actual smallpox virus (from a body had died from it) had died of smallpox, then Jenner would have gone on trial for murder. The boy survived and that is why smallpox is dead now- we have the vaccine.
Sometimes I'm honestly glad we have deadly viruses just to cull these people from the gene pool.
