For a duo to effectively function as one unit, its members don't have to be exactly alike (if it's even possible to have two identical people). Whether you look at Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen or Batman and Robin, complementary strengths are often the key to their success. The same goes for parents!
Online, we've found loads of pictures of moms and dads raising their kids in different ways, each trying to give them a rich, balanced childhood. So we decided to compile the sweetest and funniest examples into a fresh new list.

My Favourite Picture Of My Dad And I. The Expression On My Mom's Face Was Probably A Lot Different Than My Dad's
lol! Probably your Mum had the same expression as my Wife when I'm a little bit naughty: "How am I going to inflict a lot pain on his b*m with a minimum effort?" 🤣
Throwback To When My Mom Forgot To Submit My Senior Baby Ad For The Yearbook And Asked My Dad To Do It
At heart, moms and dads are trying to do the same thing. "As a psychologist who studies family relationships, I can tell you that a parent's No. 1 job is to keep their kids safe," writes Dr. Annie Pezalla, a professor at the University of St. Thomas who specializes in social identities, positive youth development, family relationships, and narratives in health.
And it's not easy.
"When a kid becomes a teenager, their world becomes more dangerous. Relationships with friends can become complicated and even toxic. [Substances] become more readily available and more tantalizing. Mental health can take a nosedive, and social media doesn't help," she says.

Yikes, those rocks under that kids head just set off my mommy senses 😳
Ha! That's nothing, my Mum and Dad has tonnes of videos of me and my brother in worse, silly situations and they lik..no, wait! LOVE torturing me and my brother by showing those videos to my Wife and SIL! Both laughing their b*um's at us! 🤣 the worst part of all, they're now digital so one day, me and my brother unborn children can laugh at us as well!

Be real quiet and sneak in the bathroom and take as long as possible a hot bath.
There are a bunch of reasons why these risks increase as kids grow up, but according to Pezalla, peer pressure is mostly to blame.
"To protect their teens from those dangers, parents have lots of strategies. They may discipline their kids – 'You're grounded!' – or challenge them to do better with phrases like, 'When I was your age, I didn't behave like that.' Or they might reprimand you: 'I'm really disappointed in you.'"
The psychologist says that if your parents have ever acted like that with you, then it was probably to keep you safe. "Most parents understand the dangers you face. They may have experienced them personally and want you to avoid the same mistakes they made. If your parents’ guidance is keeping you from harm, I'd say that they really do know what’s best."
Not Mastered Walking Yet But Flying? Nailed It
I have very vague child-memories of my dad tossing me into the air like this and catching me, and also of him holding me up above his head as he ran around the house making jet plane noises while I pretended I was a jet plane XD I don't remember them clearly as I was very small at the time, but I do remember how happy I was. He was a good dad.
Birthday Wishes: Mom vs. Dad
My dad was 30 when I was born so it should be so easy, but I swear he has never once known my age. 🤣
I was 30 when our daughter was born and my husband was 30 when our son was born. Makes it easy to remember their ages!

Just Being A Dad
Next day at work, "Time for new safety shoes. Everyone take your shoes off. Oh, yeah. We have this new foot measuring device, works best with bare feet, so take your socks off too. These are company required and company paid for, so no excuses."
Then, this most excellent of dads, when his co-workers rib him: "Yep, my daughter painted my toenails. Didn't she do an amazing job? And she's SEVEN. She can 'stay within the lines' better than any of YOU yobs can!" XD

Oh Dad
However, an analysis of studies published between 1990 and 2020 found at least 14 that showed clear differences between how mothers and fathers parent overall. Across these studies, mothers consistently emerged as more authoritative — meaning they're warm, responsive, and set clear boundaries — while fathers tended to appear more authoritarian — meaning they were more strict or controlling.

After the first baby. Then worse later after menopause.

Load More Replies...Yeah, but that’s not a gift bag, it’s a garbage bag.way different connotations.
Load More Replies...That's what gift bags and tissue paper are for... I like to reuse various boxes, bags etc. although I can appreciate a nicely wrapped gift.
Actually, Husband (an engineer by training) is a much better wrapper than I am. I just stuff it on with tape.
Some studies also found that mothers were more involved in encouraging children's independence (like in feeding or general decision-making), while fathers were more likely to use pressure or coercive strategies. These differences weren't huge, but they were noticeable.
When looking at studies that used children's or teenagers' reports, the results were very similar. Kids generally saw their mothers as more authoritative (and sometimes more permissive) than their fathers. A few studies found that fathers were seen as more authoritarian, though not all showed this difference.

The baby looks like an old man with pants all the way up to his armpits.
its a good thing babies wear diapers imagine all the fussiness from wedgies
I still don't understand why people keeps swaddling babies. It hinders development, and it had been the cause of many babies dying from overheating/suffocating. Just don't do it, it has no benefits!
My son, who has ASD and other special needs (obviously unknown to us at the time), absolutely loved being swaddled. I called it his instacalm. As he grew, he still sought out this tightness/pressure. He prefers compression garments and seeks refuge in a cocoon swing. He will even ask to be swaddled in a thick blanket (he calls it burrito time). I understand that it is not a perfect solution (there are none), but to say it has no benefits is false.

Same here, I'm 42 and it's still Mama and Papa. And me and my brother still have this thing with saying "but dont tell mom!" 😂

I'm sure I called my parents mommy and daddy when I was little, but for all my childhood memories it was mom and dad. So that's what I call them. If I called them mommy and daddy that that's who they would be, age doesn't change that. :)
Aww man! Just like my Mum! 😊 My Dad, on the other hand: "Oi! Ya overgrowth Ape!" 😄 (that how sometimes my Wife calls me when I've been silly!)
Nothing Quite Like A Little Quality Father Son Time
Kid 100% ASKED to be cardboarded into the shopping cart so he could pretend to be trapped. I would know. I was that kind of kid XD
I'm going to Home Depot later today and may try this myself.

An analysis of studies examining specific aspects of parenting — such as warmth, control, and responsiveness — found that overall differences between mothers and fathers were small to moderate in size. But across most of the research (13 studies in total), mothers were described as more accepting, responsive, supportive, and attentive than fathers. They were also more likely to set behavioral limits, monitor their children's activities, and encourage autonomy. In contrast, fathers tended to be seen as more restrictive, coercive, or harsh, and somewhat less emotionally concerned. These patterns appeared similar for sons and daughters, although girls often viewed their mothers as slightly more demanding. Overall, differences between mothers and fathers were reported more strongly by the parents themselves than by their children.

Mom vs. Dad. Two Mornings A Week My Husband Drops The Kids Off At Nursery And School, And It’s Easy To Spot What Days He Drops Off Just By Looking At Avalines Hair
There's a couple of guys on Youtube who do hair tutorials mainly aimed at single dads
To be fair, dad might not know how to care for his daughter's hair and is afraid to ask for help. Not an excuse, of course, but if he's just ignorant instead of uncaring, then it's not fair to mock him. It's not quite the same thing, but my dad was the one who taught me (in an APPROPRIATE manner) about feminine hygiene products when I started my period and was terrified of what was happening, because my mother couldn't be bothered with me. So dads can do all the things, sometimes they just need to be taught how to XD
It is also quite possible Dad did try to fix his little girl’s hair ONCE, and she has NEVER let him do it again.
Load More Replies...He could at least have brushed the girl's hair and put it in a pony tail?!?
I remember my dad putting my hair up in rollers when I was seven or eight. ❤️
Years ago i was braiding my daughter's hair in pigtails when the pre-K bus came early. So, she went with pigtail.
Not a Dad here, but, isn't it more quickly to braid a hair like that by using a power drill? (I know, I know, please don't hate me! 😊)
Kids Taking A Picture With Mom vs. Kids Taking A Picture With Dad. All I Want Is One Good Picture With My Kids. Yet Dad Gets One Every Time
At the end of the day, whatever differences there might be, moms and dads are teammates working toward the same goal — raising healthy and confident kids. The American Psychological Association highlights that parents and caregivers are the most important people in a child's life, since they offer love, acceptance, appreciation, encouragement, and guidance. It's because of them we get to grow up feeling safe, cared for, and supported as we figure out who we are and learn to handle the world, in our bodies, our minds, and our hearts.

Father of three here. When babies are young they do know (and can smell) which parent is for food. :) My wife and I joked that she was the restaurant, and I was the hotel. Certainly, all three knew this. And yes, when they were on bottles I fed them, and yes, I in fact changed more diapers (as she had problems with her back when they were bigger but still on diapers). But little babies...mommy=restaurant. :)

Load More Replies...Same, and he hates roller coasters too, so I have to ride alone because I LOVe them—-especially if there’s lots of “air time” (roller coasters enthusiasts will understand that). Of course now I have to get all the roller coastering out of my system BEFORE eating my way from one end of the park to the other, while also looking at the exhibits.

Reynaud's Syndrome. I have it. Very common. No need for the hospital. Just run some lukewarm water on the them and massage gently. They can also turn pure white. If they hurt then you need the doctor.

Check its not dye first, as its weird that its only on three of them, but if its not then to hospital with you!!

Mom’s Cooking vs. Dad’s Cooking
This depends - is that just a warmed up can of soup or is it homemade soup? If just a can, then neither is any better "cooking" than the other. But the soup is a more balanced meal.
That won't be an issue with me, I know how to cook and my unborn hell risers will know that I'll be taking good care of them when Mum is not around!

See? Dad wants his bundle of joy to experience the need, the need for speed! (Hopefully that don't turn into a quick trip to A&E!)

If baby is asleep in the stroller, why can't Dad have a peek at the newspaper? Should he just sit and stare creepily at his sleeping baby the entire time so he doesn't take his eyes off his child ever? The mom has something in her left hand, so technically SHE'S distracted too and not paying 100000% attention to baby XD
I was going to ask what the perceived issue was here. Not seeing anything remotely odd about the dad just sitting there reading the paper I assumed there must be something else I was missing.

Should cut him some slack and teach him how to fasten it properly XD (btw they're actually brilliant hair towels and work amazingly well once you get them fastened, especially if you're like me and have thick hair that takes forever to dry!)
I have the Turbi-Twist turban towel, which is easy to put on and take off. You might have an easier time with one of those instead.

Again, not fair to Mom, who needs to take breaks too. Equal time, you know. If you make a baby, you have the responsibility to take care of it. Doesn’t matter if your contribution was egg or s***m.
Also, looks like the man isnt interested. Mom is in heaven in my opinion. When my toddlerstops for long enough to snuggle with me, those are the happiest 3.5min of my day!

Yeah, my father used to pull this s**t because he thought it was funny to take pictures of me in embarrassing positions. He said it was just “candid photography” and I said it was s****y and cruel of him to embarrass me every damned time he had a camera in his hands. As a result, throughout my entire adulthood I haven’t like having pictures taken unless they’re carefully posed so they’re NOT going to embarrass me. There aren’t a lot of pictures of me after the age of 18.

He’s missing out! My daughter says to not let my grandson sit on my lap because of my arthritic knees. I just say that he’ll stop all too soon as it is. She said “Are you sure about that?” And I said “Well, you did…”
Father is not engaged... Sad. Parenting isn't just the mom's responsibility. And children deserve their parents' attention... If only "togetherness".
Too Cute
Well, if the baby is nursing, we men don't have the same equipment, so we need to find whatever works...
I don't think that baby's nursing... As long as the goal is achieved (putting the child to sleep), it's all good.
