30 Illustrations By Clare Kayden Hines That Hilariously Sum Up The Struggles Of Adult Life (New Pics)
Meet Clare Kayden Hines, the creative genius behind relatable and funny illustrations about everyday life. Based in California, Hines started drawing at 5, initially inspired by her first dog, Buttercup. Now, she's a skilled comic artist, telling stories about the silly, ordinary, and downright funny things we all might go through.
"A lot of my inspiration comes from observations or funny things that happen in my own life. My illustrations are my way of finding humor in all types of situations, from the mundane (not wanting to talk on the phone) to the existential (feeling dead inside at my job), and making them universal and relatable," the artist previously shared with Bored Panda.
Get ready to laugh, nod in agreement, and maybe even recognize yourself in these comics!

I feel this so hard. I've learned to make myself a list and then just start checking things off one at a time. If I think about everything I have to do, I get overwhelmed.
Clare Kayden Hines had never made a real comic before she created her Instagram account in October 2017. At that time, she was working at a big tech company and really wanted a way to express her creativity. So, she created a character named Kayden Hines who showed the conflict she felt between doing what everyone expected of her and her desire to go against that. "She was my comedic release."
The artist shared that she finds it hilarious how we're always in a battle with ourselves just to be normal. It's like our brains are always fighting our lazy side to get things done. "Sometimes it’s the mundane things that feel the most insurmountable, like looking at a sink full of dirty dishes, saying 'UGHHHHHHH,' and then doing the dishes anyway."
Hines gets her ideas from things she sees or funny stuff that happens in her own life. She shared that her drawings help her find humor in everything, whether it's something simple like not wanting to talk on the phone or something deeper like feeling totally bored at work. "I try to make these moments relatable to everyone."
Lol. I often finish my cup of coffee 3 hours after making it. Apparently one sip is enough to power me for a couple hours 😂
According to the artist, she often doesn't know if what she's feeling or thinking is strange or uncommon. "When I draw about my experiences and hear others say they feel the same way, it makes me feel more connected to the world."
I started sorting out some old clothes for the charity bags that get delivered to households about once a month or so, which you fill with old clothes/bedding/shoes etc and it gets collected from the kerbside and taken to charities. Was doing quite well, had a couple more piles of stuff ready to go, then BEDBUGS!!!! No more collections taking place, bedroom floor neatly decorated with unwanted stuff. Charity shops won't take things either, for the same reason. Edit: Not our bedbugs! 👾
So am I. ~begins to research spells to transform myself into a dog~
A few years back, pre pandemic, there was a house listing (in the UK) that did the rounds on FB...due to the amount of sockets everywhere in the house. Even on the ceiling. Iirc, there were more than 27 double sockets in the lounge alone! 🤣. So many said it was the dream home... not many said it was overkill.
Mom put both on the table to avoid issues. Good for me. I like both.
I am type one, but with all the icons lined up on the left side instead of the right.
I was sick that day to the point where any amount of movement gave me a massive headache :3
"Did I remember to lock the front door?" Go to check. Locked. Two hours later "Did I remember to lock the front door?"
I got a really good water filter... now water tastes soooo good.
Load More Replies...The thing is, it actually doesn't have to be water. And it doesn't necessarily have to be 8 glasses. How much you need depends on the person and the situation (more in hotter weather, for example). Your body will tell you if you are thirsty. And you get a lot of water from the food you eat. Plain water is probably healthier than other drinks. But any drink will do for getting the amount of water you need.
So is tea. But you need to be careful if you drink lots of strong tea or coffee.
Load More Replies...And then you remember the whole "8 glasses/2l of water a day" myth was started by a "study" funded by a major bottled water company
You should go by how thirsty you are - in summer, everyone's gulping down the water no problem, but it's harder in winter because we aren't as thirsty, so just go with the flow (pun intended)
Load More Replies...they all contain water, just drink 16 or your favorite mix. No don’t, its bad.
The 8 glasses a day myth also claims incorrectly that you can't drink anything else. Coffee is a bit of a diuretic, but almost any other water-based liquid, like soda, is equivalent to water.
