35 Times People Spotted Such Delusional Artists, They Just Had To Shame Them In This Online Group
We at Bored Panda have written about choosing beggars again, and again, and again, and still haven't even scratched the surface of their ridiculous demands—there are simply too many!
But this time, we decided to look at the other side—the one that does the offering—and see if we can find any opportunists among them as well. Pretty soon, we discovered the subreddit 'Delusional Artists' and it gave us exactly what we were looking for.
This online community of 514,000 members constantly shares pictures that expose people with a warped understanding of their prowess. Thinking they're the next big thing, these folks ask for thousands of dollars for their work, and probably expect that the Museum of Modern Art will give them a call any day now, begging to buy a piece for its collection.
I guess the key takeaway here is that people are funny. No matter where you look, someone will find a way to surprise you.

Delusional Photographer Needs To Quit While She’s Behind
Now that's Art! Commentary on a fake human family being emotionally and morally inferior to dogs. The family poses for the camera while the dogs are genuinely eager to run away.
Wow, the photographer almost used as many filters as the Kardashians do on their photographs!
If you look at the quite harsh shadows on their shoulders, I would say the left (our left) side of their faces would have been in quite dark shadow. Something she should have seen when she took the shots. Lightening shadows in something like Lightroom would have been a better option that repainting every pixel in their faces. :-D
Load More Replies...My School Cut Down A Perfectly Healthy Tree For This...
We don't know what the case with the tree is. After working in my citys forestry and learning about trees, a "healthy" looking tree doesn't mean it's healthy. There could be an infestation, overhang, rotting, damage to the surrounding area, underground piping, anything. My city cut a whole street worth of trees down and replaced them with fresh trees and people were pissed. Well people couldnt see the emerald ash borer investation. Rather than let it slowly destroy the tree and look of the neighborhood they decided to replant. Most people don't even know what EAB is, but they do know how to complain.
Load More Replies...That is really sad, but maybe someone was concerned that the tree roots could damage the concrete and even cause an accident at some future date.
This, plus: do we know for sure that the tree was perfectly healthy? People tend to get outraged when healthy-looking trees get cut down, and even more outraged when they fall down during a storm narrowly missing a mother with a baby... And also, whatever we see on the photo is clearly not a final product of whatever concept it is.
Load More Replies...My city cut down some trees to put up some metal statue trees.
Many times, like humans, trees hide their illnesses well. It is possible that the "perfectly healthy tree" was anything but. At least I would hope that would by why a landscaper would do this.
We contacted the moderators of 'Delusional Artists' and one of them, a Reddit user who goes on the platform as Wqzu, was kind enough to have a little chat with us.
It's not a secret that when subreddits get big, they attract more trolls, but the mod said this particular one isn't having this problem. (Knock on wood.) "Thankfully, the most common issue is reposts," Wqzu told Bored Panda.
"There are times when we have had to step in and control off-site brigades; the most infuriating one is 1-star review bombing self-published works on Amazon. Every now and then, some big drama will kick off, either publicly (like this) or in modmail when an artist finds out they've been posted here. It hasn't happened in a while though, unfortunately. Maybe I should stir the pot a little bit."
I Know Orange Sea Glass Is Rare Find But...
Although orange glass this thick could be quite rare to find in the first place, to put in your tumbler. I can't think of anything that comes packaged in orange glass bottles or jars.
Load More Replies..."Sea glass" tumbled in a rock tumbler you got from Harbor Freight
Half-eaten wine gum on string... yours for the low price of a second mortgage
Take orange glass, tumble in tumbler, produce "rare" orange sea glass, sell for an outrageous amount in the hopes you get one sucker.....still waiting. Heeere sucker sucker sucker ----
Ridiculous. Is this at Etsy? Regardless, the truth is, orange glass IS hard to find. Unless you had broken an orange glass vase, or something. I mean, I had a lot of glass art in my home, but not a single piece is orange. And my stuff came from a glass blowing studio in Louisiana.... and elsewhere in the south... The frit they use to color molten glass is VERY expensive. But this necklace is not worth that price. Maybe they meant to list is at $900.00? However, no one has gone back to change the price. SO....... nuts!
Does This Count?
A wise person once said, "If you pay more than a dollar for a bookmark, you were overcharged; You could've just used the dollar"
This is infuriating. There are people without running water, girls who have to miss school because they don't have access to sanitary products, people without shelter, food, water, and then there are people willing to buy stuff like this.
Idk why you would use a paper clip to bookmark anyway, it would tug and rip the pages as book pages aren't usually like letterhead paper.
I was thinking the same thing! What a terrible bookmark design.

My guess is it's not a typical zip tie so it can be removed and adjusted without destroying it. Otherwise it would act like a tourniquet and impede blood flow to your hand. Still just cheap trash though.

Putting a price on your artwork on the internet can be hard. As writer Julia Rittenberg, there are several important factors both amateurs and professionals should keep in mind when doing so that doesn't really apply to real life.
Take shipping, for example. "Since [it] can be prohibitively expensive for consumers, price your products to be more expensive to keep shipping costs down for customers," Rittenberg explained on Forbes. "It's a difficult calculation, but higher shipping costs tend to dissuade potential customers. If you keep shipping costs down, you might get more sales, even if the product is priced to be more expensive."
On the other hand, if you're selling digital prints and reproductions, you might want to keep costs down to get your products out to more customers. Only after you build a customer base, should you start to raise prices and consider special offers and shorter runs to incentivize your products as collectibles.

Filmmaker And Painter, Copied Works Out Other Artists, Claimed Them As Original And Sold Them In Galleries
Sadly this is pretty par for the course for a lot of graphic design. Take an image of someone else's work, alter it just enough to be different, sell for profit. It's a shame cuz it seems like the artist could've made some decent stuff on their own had they tried to do ANYTHING that was actually original.
I got someone thrown of my course for that. The biggest issue for graphic design is companies like Fiver. Anyone can call themselves a graphic designer and charge bottom dollar for c**p. Company pays nearly nothing so doesn't care.
Load More Replies..."In June 2019, Mahyar Bahram Asl, an Iranian graduate student and painter, was sentenced to 35 lashings under the charge of insulting Milani by accusing her of plagiarism." - That's just horrible
Yes, it's sad because her art style isn't bad, many of the changes she made are still interesting and artistic. But you can't really appreciate and enjoy them since they're plagiarized!
Load More Replies...The most important part about being a true or great artist is originality—this person is not a true artist and will assuredly never be great.
IMHO, she has lost the whole meaning in several of these by not including the details. It's not just the scissors. She's lost the plot on the 3rd and the 5th, as well. I think she's disguised her inability to paint by hiding under the idea of style and interpretation. She definitely lacks creativity. I wonder how many originals she has.
That is the one rule for renderings. You never copy a sketch or drawing from another artist. If you want to use a photo to make a drawing, then go for it. But this is just pathetic, and the original artist's should be suing the c**p out of tahmenihmilani. This is just plain rip off plagiarism.
I do hope people will not copy the link to this article onto her Facebook page.
$2000
I hypothesize they are selling something illegally and the confetti is a stand in for the actual item. A select customer base knows what will actually show up if they buy it.
Purchased at the local Dollar Store and passed off as avant-garde art piece.
Okay What??
Most likely. But, it’s a joke that’s soared over the heads of at least 46 people. I wish this was the most dangerous “joke” they’ve fallen for in the last few years, but I have the sinking feeling that it’s not even close.
Load More Replies...NATIVE. RUSTIC. HANDMADE?! You freaking smashed some c**p together and gave it bad price! 🤣
However, these things are directed toward the reasonable. And those who end up on 'Delusional Artists' are usually anything but; the creative type isn't exactly known for its rationality.
"I think part of being any form of artist (and I say this as a very amateur hobbyist writer that wasted over $33k on a creative writing degree) is being somewhat of a narcissist [who believes] the idea that what you've made needs to be viewed by other people," Wqzu said.
"Most people know that for every Picasso or Dali, there's a million people trying their own hand at it, and that gives you a big pool of people with the potential to be more narcissistic."
They Clearly Just Put A Filter Over The Picture
For £12 that’s definitely a filter. I know many artists that create paintings like this from the photos their clients provide and they cost way more than loose change.
Yeh, I feel like £12 is a reasonable amount for minor digital alterations (eg filters), especially if they're going to then mail you a print (we can't tell if they do from the post). But this seems like a legit service. Can't be helped if you send them a s**t photograph.

The moderator said it is also worth mentioning that a lot of the subreddit's members have never attempted to sell or buy art, and so their idea of what constitutes a reasonable price is normally fairly low.
"I'd say the community is split between people that like looking at bad art and like looking at delusional people having a meltdown," they explained. 'Delusional Artists' have been around since 2013 and has been reviewed by various big names, but the visibility comes with its fair share of challenges. "Every time the sub gets posted somewhere big, like when PewdiePie made a video on it, we get inundated with reposts, soapboxers, and brigaders that predictably whine in modmail after they get banned."
They would love for everyone to check out the sub, but ask that you read the shagging rules and search the shagging sub before posting and commenting!

Oof. I don't like to make fun of people's art when they're really trying but come on, if you don't have artistic skills then you shouldn't be charging people money to do commissions.
honestly, if you had seen the persons other work in advance (the reason you asked this person) than yeah, 75 is the right price. lets say this person worked 10 hours on the piece (not just the painting, sketching it out, trying different things, depending on the artist) than this artist earned 7,50 per hour... which I wouldnt consider a good price for an artist... but yeah, if you were familiar with the artist you asked, yep, 75 is right on the mark!
Absolutely! Expecting a professional portrait for that money is absurd. Also, the finished work is not good but does look like a young artist trying.

Of course they will not hang his painting. The artist has not included Jesus holding a rifle and drinking a bud.

Since the painting is worth nothing, the math doesn't work. Multiplying by zero is zero.

Maybe it's a first sketch of a famous painting or a hobby drawing by a famous entertainment personality. I've seen Picasso sketches of his works and drawings Marilyn Monroe did on the set of "Some like it hot" at auction.
This looks like a draft sketch for a Thomas Kinkade. The signature in the right bottom corner looks a lot like a his signature on his other paintings. Some people love his art, however, I just find it too...how do I say this nicely...kitschy. I think that price is incredibly steep since his normal artwork doesn't even sell for that much...

Somehow This Made It To The National Gallery Of Art In Dc
Well I've got a much bigger "art" collection than I thought, then!
Not my cuppa tea, but this is apparently a tribute to poet Emily Dickinson, known as the Woman in White, by Richard Tuttle. There are more from other artists here: https://www.thedickinson.net/plog-poetry-blog/poartry
He made a "tribute" using an octagonal white tablecloth? Uh...ok.
Load More Replies...Same at other "Modem Art" galleries around the world. I think it's that the Marie Antoinettes of the Art World met my art installation - "Wicker Basket under Elitism/ Pretentiousness Dispatcher."
Aww He Has Your Eyes!
I think one of my early sonograms looked just like that 🤣 Definitely didn't have any eyes yet though...
Even Batman's Tiny Head Cant Believe The Price.
I think you may be right on that guess. The long legs is a usual sign of a younger kid 3-7 as they try to draw a tall adult because of the angle they usually look up at them and this being done in acrylic at that age group really isn't so bad so might of ended up in a charity event from a school contest or such.

My husband's mom has a painting like this if 3 interlocking rings in 3 different shades of blue. She paid $350 for it and when my husband saw it, he said "come on, Mom, you could've given me $50 and I could've dipped my balls in paint and made this for you MUCH cheaper!" Now anytime she sees it, she laughs and calls it her "testicle painting" 😅
Sorry, I can't help but think, 'Your husband has 3 balls???'
Load More Replies...May I ask what you like about it? Its....four circles. Is there a story or something behind it that I am unaware of?

🤦🏻♀️ Where do these people's overinflated egos and arrogance come from?!
I do too, but I'm not paying anyone to doodle on jeans with Sharpie markers - I can do those myself, at home, for free with markers I already have on clothing I also have in the closet. Plus I'm not gonna try to scam people out of their money by claiming I collaborated with the Big Name Designers!

She’s At It Again Y’all
I can trace out 2 half moons and dot the nipples myself for a hell of a lot less. Sheeit, I think my 7 y/o son could make a better looking rack than this.
A list of what I see: tits, closed eyes with dots on the eyelids and 2 creepy faces with just 1 eye
Should've just dipped your breasts in paint and plopped them on the canvas.
This is reasonable. It's wet on wet watercolor with resist. There's good technique.
Alex Jones Tries His Hand At Art.
Alex Jones is a fraud and a lunatic. His horrible art is just one more terrible aspect to his human dumpster fire of a "personality".
The only plot here is the one that was lost by Alex Jones a very long time ago.
Is It Kesha Or Lady Gaga? You Get To Decide!
Ha, I love that even the artist can't tell who the hell it is. Might as well call it a Taylor Swift, too!
This Painting Of Dwight For $200
Other than the gray, sagging, melting jaw/ear/neck? And the flat, mismatched eyes? OK. To each his own!

At least they're only asking 25. If someone painted it, it might actually be interesting

Right? Funny what the bots deem "offensive" or "triggering" . They lost me at "unalive" (autocorrect even agrees) in place of dead.

Was At A Local Art Festival. The "Artist " Wanted Somewhere Between $250 And $300 For Each Of The Paintings.
Who is convincing all these "artists" with a 3rd grade proficiency to try and sell their stuff?! Portfolios people, they have a reason for existing! So do art fundamentals courses 🤦🏻♀️
Photographer Selling Photo Editing While We're All Isolating. Is It Just Me, Or Does The Second Photo Look Worse?
I just read some Reddit AITA story about a newborn photographer and it learned me that up untill 14 days the bones are still pliable. So the baby is asleep, the photographer puts them in this position and there is a very small window to create this

Maybe it’s a kid charity gallery, or a school fundraiser

Omg! That is Tate Modern!! I recognise the ventilation covers. They're more art than the art. The floor is more art than the painting.

Same, plus its so much better for the world and usually more comfortable.

Believe it or not, blame the CIA. Dadaism was created to be anti-art. "Artists" such as Duchamp (who hung a urinal in a gallery) were declaring that there was nothing beautiful in the world. But then the CIA decided they wanted the Soviets to be impressed with how accepting of critique U.S. society was that they started paying hundreds of millions of dollars to influencers (of the 1950s and 1960s kind) to heap praise on Dadaist art and other forms of anti-art, launching the grandest case of "The Emperor Has No Clothes" the world has ever seen. There is legitimately some art that is better than an uneducated mind can intuit. Picasso, Warhol, Matisse, Albers are among the most famous. And some saw works by CIA-funded artists and actually found something worth being good at. And just because they were pushed by the CIA doesn't mean they were worthless (Johns, Pollock). But so many of our cultural elites have done such mental gymnastics aligning their tastes to this phoniness.
It's not only that. There was also a concerted effort starting in the 1920s, by wealthy art "patrons" to fund non-objective art as a counter to the highly critical and anti capitalist artists that were growing in influence. Artists like Kahlo. The idea was to push art into pure form and colour, and away from recognizable images which could be used to make political statements. Not a new concept though. Read about Michaelangelo and the Medici.
Load More Replies...Ok, ok, these are all really bad but honestly if someone wants to buy them, then thats their choice. I had a friend who desperately needed money, so she used a spare canvas she had and the leftover paints to make an abstract artwork. She sold it on eBay for nearly $400. So if someone is willing to pay that, then fine lol

Load More Replies...Yes. Partisan Review, a communist paper from the 1930s, became one of the CIA-funded promoters of anti-art. Supposedly in the name of opposing communism, the CIA spent untold fortunes promoting communist, anti-American, anti-establishment and anti-clerical art in the U.S. I just wrote my own comment about it. Supposedly the idea was to let Soviets see how tolerant we were of dissent and conformity.
