Oh for Pete's sake, BP.! The word was m-u-r-d-e-r.
Load More Replies...Today, there are approximately 600 million domestic cats in the world, divided into about 200 various breeds. However, the number actually varies depending on the international felinological organization that registers breeds.
For example, the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) recognizes only about 45 breeds, while The International Cat Association (TICA) recognizes 71. These discrepancies are explained by the fact that some distinguishing characteristics are considered sufficient to constitute a separate breed, while others are not.
In any case, any felinologist around the world, regardless of whether they consider a particular breed officially recognized or not, will readily tell you that all cats, pedigreed or not, are simply beautiful and amazing. Period.
My Cat Sits Like This, And Iâm 99% Sure Heâs Plotting World Domination. Should I Be Worried?
You never, ever know what's on their mind and...well, just in case, make sure ALL you affairs are in order
Do not give them the codes. That includes the door alarm, cell phone, remote control, and most importantly, the auto feeder.
Load More Replies...My new cat does the same, I'm sure they're connected telepathically. We definitely should be worried - let's make sure they both get plenty of treats so they may consider sparing us once they take over. (Seriously though- my new cat is the nicest and most patient cat ever, I love herđââŹ. But she always does this, and just like this cat she seems to have longer legs than the average cat.)
Oh we can't do that on here can we ? Well that's a bummer đ

My Cat Always Hangs Her Left Leg Down When She Sits & It Cracks Me Up Every Time
Someone needs to photo shop (-ai) a red spike heel onto it and a sparkling crown. Its an orangie, they are up for about anything, Also, that may be an early sign of hip dysplasia.
Load More Replies...It must be said that grateful humanity, over the years and centuries of living with cats under one roof, has immortalized them in numerous masterpieces of art. It's enough to recall, for example, T. S. Eliot's poem cycle "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats," which later inspired the brilliant musical "Cats" (and, alas, the utterly poor recent film adaptation).
At the beginning of the 21st century, an entire kindergarten designed in the shape of a giant cat even appeared in the German city of Karlsruhe. The two-story building completely imitates the figure of a cat lying on the ground. Kids enter along a red carpet symbolizing a protruding tongue, and the roof is covered with a special textured coating imitating cat fur.
What is this, if not a manifestation of people's incredible respect for their longtime partners, friends, and companions?

That's not chunk, that's fluff! The best for belly rubs!
Load More Replies...Furthermore, some modern traditions associated with cats are, in fact, humanity's attempt to justify the sins committed by our ancestors against cats. For example, the Belgian city of Ypres has held a traditional spring festival called Kattenstoet, dedicated to cats, for several decades now.
It sounds very cute, doesn't it? Yes, if you don't know that in Ypres in the Middle Ages, inquisitors "fought witches" by simply throwing cats out of the windows of the city tower. And today, specially dressed actors throw plush cat figurines from those same windows onto the square, into the hands of the delighted tourists.
To at least partially atone for our guilt towards the fluffy creatures who suffered so much in the past, and to earn a little money from tourism as well, at least, Kattenstoet is visited by thousands of tourists from all over the world every year.

Help I Wanna Escape
Our crazy arthritic epeleptic 18 lb void got the zoomies after he pooped because he also had chronic constipation and when he went he went! If the slider was open he ran up it and I had to try to run and catch him before he launched down. Did I mention he was born with hip dysplasia? His mom was pregnant with 5 when she moved in. My husband didn't understand the CDS at the time.
Reminds me of a nightmare I had recently. I looked out my living room windows to see several large cats pacing back and forth. Suddenly, they each threw themselves against the window screens (looking just like this). And then they ripped out all my screens and took off running with them, cackling as only cats can.
I actually lost a screen recently as my indoor/outdoor cat tried to bring a friend in at 2 am but didn't tell her how to navigate the door in screen, woke up to an angry white fluffy face backing out n taking screen with her! I think the 2 did the same at her home as the apartment across the way where I'd seen her suddenly had a destroyed screen as well đ¤Ł

Anyone remember the Gremlin from the old Bugs Bunny cartoon, 'Falling Hare'? I can hear that laugh now. Picture posted in reply below.
Ears? Horizontal, stiff. Eyes? Extremely wide. Claws? Extended on one paw (rear paws unseen). Human (in 3,2,1...): Jumping up, screaming, and bleeding from the scratch across the nose. Cat: 3 floors away, hiding, furious.
That kitty is not happy and I wouldn't be surprised if the cat defended themselves seconds after this photo was taken.

My 2 orange boys purposely hide and bury their toys in under and around everything. It doesn't matter how I try to block it off, then they use rugs or water dishes.
Oh Nah What Is This Cat Doing!
There's definitely a flying bug somewhere close. My big boy does the meerkat stance when he spots moths around the lamp.
If I woke up in the middle of the night to see my cat walking like this, I'd be calling a priest or an exterminator. Just sayin

Lovely classic tabby! I have one too, but he's got long fur, so you can't really see the gorgeous marbled tabby markings like you can on this gorgeous cat... I mean plant XD
There's almost a cat outline on it. I miss my tabbies. But they sillied me for the rest of my life.

Found The Best Slippers
I'm going to end up buying two pairs in order for each cat to be represented.
I had a pair of slippers like this, but orange cat. We had just gotten a new Orange Bub, making 3 total. She came down the stairs with her brothers and she stopped dead......one paw out front just frozen. She was staring in wide eyed HORROR at the cats on my feet. So her brother Bubby-Ju came over *very cautiously* and softly tapped one slipper. He then went back to Roo and meowed conveyance that I was NOT wearing actual cats, and she proceeded to finish her walk to the kitchen. đ
Best $4 Purchase Of The Year!
Ears aren't flattened, overall body structure is relaxed. Cat may not love it, but cat tolerates it XD My old gray girl Wintressia loved wearing clothes/costumes for some reason (I have a great photo of her in a shirt and socks) and my current oldest cat Kohl tolerates costumes/outfits for a bit while I snap a few photos XD Rewards/treats are the key!

Load More Replies...As to your poll, I have seven indoor fur babies. NOTHING on that list surprises me.
The BBC website has an interesting article "Cats became our companions way later than you think". Analyses of cat DNA indicate that cats were domesticated somewhere in northern Africa (probably Egypt) and only 3,000-4,000 years ago--not in the Levant 10,000 years ago at the beginning of the First Agricultural Revolution. A surprise (to me) bit of info is that domestic cats only reached (non-Mediterranean) Europe around 2,000 years ago and it was due to Roman expansion. They also spread into Asia via the Silk Road.
