Today, there are approximately 600 million domestic cats in the world, divided into about 200 various breeds. However, the number actually varies depending on the international felinological organization that registers breeds.
For example, the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) recognizes only about 45 breeds, while The International Cat Association (TICA) recognizes 71. These discrepancies are explained by the fact that some distinguishing characteristics are considered sufficient to constitute a separate breed, while others are not.
In any case, any felinologist around the world, regardless of whether they consider a particular breed officially recognized or not, will readily tell you that all cats, pedigreed or not, are simply beautiful and amazing. Period.

My new cat does the same, I'm sure they're connected telepathically. We definitely should be worried - let's make sure they both get plenty of treats so they may consider sparing us once they take over. (Seriously though- my new cat is the nicest and most patient cat ever, I love herđââŹ. But she always does this, and just like this cat she seems to have longer legs than the average cat.)

Our crazy arthritic epeleptic 18 lb void got the zoomies after he pooped because he also had chronic constipation and when he went he went! If the slider was open he ran up it and I had to try to run and catch him before he launched down. Did I mention he was born with hip dysplasia? His mom was pregnant with 5 when she moved in. My husband didn't understand the CDS at the time.

Reminds me of a nightmare I had recently. I looked out my living room windows to see several large cats pacing back and forth. Suddenly, they each threw themselves against the window screens (looking just like this). And then they ripped out all my screens and took off running with them, cackling as only cats can.

I actually lost a screen recently as my indoor/outdoor cat tried to bring a friend in at 2 am but didn't tell her how to navigate the door in screen, woke up to an angry white fluffy face backing out n taking screen with her! I think the 2 did the same at her home as the apartment across the way where I'd seen her suddenly had a destroyed screen as well đ¤Ł

I had a pair of slippers like this, but orange cat. We had just gotten a new Orange Bub, making 3 total. She came down the stairs with her brothers and she stopped dead......one paw out front just frozen. She was staring in wide eyed HORROR at the cats on my feet. So her brother Bubby-Ju came over *very cautiously* and softly tapped one slipper. He then went back to Roo and meowed conveyance that I was NOT wearing actual cats, and she proceeded to finish her walk to the kitchen. đ

Ears aren't flattened, overall body structure is relaxed. Cat may not love it, but cat tolerates it XD My old gray girl Wintressia loved wearing clothes/costumes for some reason (I have a great photo of her in a shirt and socks) and my current oldest cat Kohl tolerates costumes/outfits for a bit while I snap a few photos XD Rewards/treats are the key!

The BBC website has an interesting article "Cats became our companions way later than you think". Analyses of cat DNA indicate that cats were domesticated somewhere in northern Africa (probably Egypt) and only 3,000-4,000 years ago--not in the Levant 10,000 years ago at the beginning of the First Agricultural Revolution. A surprise (to me) bit of info is that domestic cats only reached (non-Mediterranean) Europe around 2,000 years ago and it was due to Roman expansion. They also spread into Asia via the Silk Road.
