While type 1 is mostly inherited, type 2 also makes some families more susceptible than others. When you eat healthy and exercise you can prevent type 2 diabetes from occurring. Because insulin resistence also increases with age type 2 diabetes used to be called adult diabetes. Today when even little children can be overweight diabetes type 2 can be seen at a very young age.

That is why this is important to me. But I still know less that the MD of internal medicine on this department. I remember other stuff a bit better. Luckily for my patients.

That is true. I haven’t thought of it that way before. I just feel bad that my teacher spent a year of labor teaching all these kids, and I’ve forgotten so many of the things I learned T-T but I do remember that salt and high cholesterol increase risk of heart attack and stroke. My parents are cursed with me telling them so Everytime they put salt on their meal. But does that mean that until we pick what area we want to study, we can’t remember too much in our subjects? What if I chose a subject that I remembered so little about, would it be like starting over or having a blank in my learning timeline?

Yes and no. Some of us (like my dad) are blessed with an exceptional memory. But for most people like us, we have to keep activating our knowledge over time. Just like your parents keep activating the subject of salt and cholesterol. When you choose a subject, you are likely to be interested in the subject. So if you keep reading and talking about it it will stick. Sometimes it will be like starting al over again, but that’s alright. Because you still know parts of it (like with diabetes), it will be easier to fill in the blank spots. Read about it. Learn the notes you made in the past. Even youtube might help. I make mental films where I actively can see the insuline connecting with the insuline receptor. Memory is like a muscle. Not everybody can be mr. Universe, but your muscles will grow with practice.

If it’s a joke, it’s often less confusing to put /j or “joking.” I don’t care if you found it clear and not confusing, not everyone has your eyes and brain

But it's a clear and obvious parody of the very advertising strapline you quoted.

Except knives, for instance, have uses *other* than killing people, whereas a handgun has no legitimate non-murdering uses. If you want to practice shooting, use a rifle, which at least is a hunting weapon. Pistols are for rendering human people dead and nothing else. Also it turns out that if you ban handguns you don't have school shootings for about thirty years (and counting)

How do you get the handguns and other weapons from the ones who obtained them illegally? It is a very complicated issue in the US with no easy, clear cut solutions as of yet. One thing, though, it will take both sides talking to one another to find a way out of this endless cycle of gun violence. So keep downvoting my for expressing my opinion whoever did...you are part of the problem, not the solution.

I personally could care less about the downvotes myself too. It's the double standards that annoy the c**p out of me. I have no illusions that we will solve gun violence here, but at least we can discuss it. Anyways, have a good one P.C....or two...shhh don't wake the trolls

Banning handguns doesn't stop school shootings. Lots of school shootings are done with rifles.

And yet both the UK and Australia responded to school shootings with handgun bans three decades ago and have had no school shootings since. That's not to say the USA shouldn't tighten up gun control generally, though.
