Drinking Beer! Fixing stuff! Destroying stuff! Drinking beer while destroying stuff! These are the things that make real men what they are...right? Well no, obviously. But that doesn't stop people - and brands in particular - having some pretty warped ideas about what exactly it means to be a man. Check out this list compiled by Bored Panda to see what we mean. People have been using the hashtags #FRAGILEMASCULINITY and #Masculinitysofragile to highlight how absurd traditional perceptions of masculinity can be, and it's sure to make you smile. Unless you're too manly to smile that is. Grr.

My friend constantly tells me I need to stand up for myself more, but also constantly mocks me when I am being confident. He says it's "just a joke," but I insist it is "just super annoying and you should stop"
I don't know any men like that in real life...especially on the cooking bit.
I've never seen a bear in real life either, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I honestly would love to have a boyfriend who would cook. I hate cooking, that's a pretty good deal.
Thus must seriously be a university and "higher education" problem. I dropped out and pursued my own interests and got my HS diploma on my own accord. Never have i come across this kind of ignorance in my travels or meetings. Then again. I never went to a university either. And from what i can gather. This behavior runs rampant in that setting. Leaves one wondering if the goal of a university is no longer to educate on sciences, math and art. But to mature youth into functional human beings. Though it takes a few years before they finally figure it out.
Homo sapiens BS and hypocrisy. Have you seen a male animal having problems with anything similar?
Many animals have very clear gender rolls for survival purposes. Humans just really don't need them anymore.

Well me father told me that umbrellas were for gays and women, and it took me like 16 years until I realized that was b******t. Be tolerant, you don't know the background of these guys.
And that diamond plate background. Diamond plate makes anything manly.
Singing makes him uncomfortable, but dudes walking around with their d***s out is ok.
Well considering that is his brand name that stems from his original blog, I give this a meh.
Yeah...... except this is kind of a play on that concept? Like... this is trying to help men to get to their feelings? And tell them it's okay to feel?? Because society thinks feelings are for women? So... yeah, no.
the 80's man, we all used the same eyeliner and hairspray. no testosterone was damaged.
I always wash with Johnson's baby wash, it's not gender specific and you can get away with just about anything who doesn't like how babies smell
I don't... I don't think this happens, at least not for the reason it's assuming.
Everybody looked at me weird when I bought a hairbrush to brush my longish hair to school. I don't understand why masculinity is so fragile. I'm apparently gay because I show lotsa feelings, compliment my friends, act kind to people, not have 50000000 social media accounts, share a lot, and have long hair. Why did men and young adults change so horribly?
I'M SORRY did you just say that LIFETIME MOVIES are part of the list of "best things in life"? NO, f**k off. I have better things to watch, like almost anything else.
Soo.... the lasagna dishes are now projects. Clean the projects faster dude. :)
Because the size of the body wash you purchase directly relates to the size of your dangling manhood.
Gee...how dare men want stylish, unique clothes! (I am assuming that, like a boutique, the styles are a bit more unique than what you'd find at a store like Kohls or JC Penny, and I have yet to see a boutique that has any selection for men)
Some of those manly patterns look a little girly. Men, use at your own risk!;)
Or pickles. I've had guys actually throw burgers back at me because they had pickles on it. They often yelled s**t like "Do I look like a pregnant woman to you?"
When I was a kid eating Happy Meals at McDonald's, the "boy" version of the toy was a Hot Wheels car and the "girl" version was a little Barbie doll. I had no problem being a girl, but I was a boy every time I ate one of those Happy Meals and it still bothers me they couldn't ask "car or doll?" or "Hot Wheels or Barbie?" instead of "is this for a girl or a boy?".
Sometimes its nice to just feel like a manly man. Eating meat off the bone, smelling like sweat and hard work. Not that any of those things are specific to being a man, but it does help us feel manlier. There is nothing wrong with marketing towards a certain group. These products are trying to capitalize on people wanting to feel manly. There is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with wanting to feel and look like a man, even if it is nothing more than a name on a package.
I think it becomes funny when a man doesn't allow himself to buy, express or do something because it is labelled like "feminine". Which is, by the same way, sad for them.
Load More Replies...I'm all about enjoying being feminine or masculine, but it is funny when marketers use it. Like when they make woman's razors pink and men's razors camo.
I bought a cameo razor once. Took me an hour every morning to find it.

Most of these things are the same as the women's version....only cheaper
When it comes down to it does this really affect you in any way? So men like things that say "men" on them .... ok? so? No one is saying women can't buy these products. So whats the problem?
(I'm a lady) it gets me how a fellow woman can try to ridicule an all male event when bars have things like "ladies night" and stuff like like that. It's a two way street people. Buck up.
We make fun of ladies' products too! I for one roll my eyes whenever I see something that needs to be pink and flowery to be marketed to women :D

My faith in humanity is dying, like if it was a person and somebody shot it in the head sorta dying.
And again boredpanda talk about discrimination and all these lefties things. It't only marketing and a lot of these things need or can have female/male versions - it's obvious. But you try to tell us that women are discriminated here. But if someone is - it's just a man.
Eh, no one is saying anything about female discrimination. It's just making fun of people who think masculinity needs to be affirmed at all costs - and it actually harms boys, of course! No, really, it does.

lol butthurt feminism. its called marketing but oh wait you wouldnt know with your b******t genderstudies degree
What's better than this? /gestures towards sports ball/ guys being dudes
I don't get it, so gender neutral is okay, and products for women are okay, but say something is for men and feminists get triggered and have to mock it. Just because a man used a "for men" product doesn't made him fragile, any more than a woman who uses "for women" products. Feminists are just an annoying waste of time. Strong and/or talented women have never needed feminism, only weak or inept women do.
And safeway has "women's Blend" granola trail mix. Because I guess there's estrogen in the Yogurt balls or something.
hahaha, men are men, metrosexuals are not real men; it is upon you what you choose ;)
I think that these heavily gendered products tell us something about how while traditional ideas of masculinity and strict boundaries of what it means to be a man or a woman are eroding, many people -- those who just want to be "normal" -- are feeling insecure by the increasing lack of rigid structures defining normality. Therefore, the large percentage of people who just want to be "normal", to do what they are "supposed to do", and be who they are "supposed to be" as a man (or a woman for that matter) are having a difficult time finding a comfortable space to be completely unoriginal and boring. Especially with the younger generations today, those who feel the need to narrowly define themselves into an identity proscribed for them by society have a more difficult task at hand than their parents or Grandparents did. As strict gender delineations become less and less prevalent, the majority of people who feel a deep need to be told how they are supposed to be as a Man or as a Woman,
Oops, it cut off my comment. Here is the rest: or as a Woman, start to feel very insecure -- especially in certain situations -- without clear and obvious instructions and rules. Totally unnecessarily gender-ized products such as these, give such people a sense of security. The man sees the "Toothpaste for Men", and thinks "Oh good, I am a man, so I am supposed to buy the manly version of toothpaste". Then they feel like they have done their masculinity reenforcing task for the day and can go about their business acting whiny and entitled the rest of the time. So many people feel so deeply uncomfortable without clear rules about who they are supposed to be, because all they want in life is to do and be what they are supposed to do and be. People who are drawn to products like these are extremely insecure about their masculinity primarily because it is mostly a feigned approximation of traditional concepts of masculinity to begin with.

And they sell the man product 20% cheaper than the identical woman product.
