Covid depression Is one of the most predominant factors that most of us have experienced throughout the past 2 years, yet no one talks about it. You know that thing that makes you feel so used up that you download a bunch of apps that you know won’t make you happy? Maybe eat more, sleep more, stay in your house more. Then a war hits and you feel so incredibly useless to the perpetual tragedy that you just shut down. Yeah, that thing.
I acknowledge that Covid has affected people's mental health drastically. What I feel is REALLY being swept under the carpet is Long Covid, which is affecting a huge number of people with effects that may well be permanent, and many of these people are health workers who were forced into Covid situations without sufficient PPE or vaccinations. Governments are not doing anything about that.
I am sorry but I feel like this is whataboutism and totally takes away from the issue stated here, which is depression increasing or getting worse in the past 2 years. Long Covid is being discussed everywhere but i havent seen big reports and data on mental health, other than the casual "covid is no good for depressed people"-article. I honestly seem like the least likely person to get depression, i am a bubbly, takative, and fun loving/ reckless. But since the most of my life is my social interactions i was deppresed during covid. I hated it. i hated online school. But now im better. It still hurts thinking about that. It's been the strangest two years of my life, that's for sure. I have felt that depression although it feels more like weariness. The sadness and anxiety brought on by the relative isolation has created an emotional reset for me. My wife and I are empty nesters and my job went 100% remote. I go out a couple times a week but other than that it's just been us. The thing is, in many ways this has been the best two years of my life. I'm actually more concerned about what comes next.

When I was in public school there was a year-long fundraiser push to raise $75,000 for a new school running track. Was supposed to be really nice paved track. By the end of the school year, they announced that they had met the funding goal and the track was going to be built. Kind of random but last summer it got to be 50 degrees Celsius in greater Vancouver bc (the highest recorded temperature in Canada ever) and the next day the city of Lytton burned down. On a random day in 2013, somebody in California decided to go underground and cut phone lines. Thirty minutes later, professional snipers sprayed the Metcalf power substation for twenty minutes. Hmm. This seems to mostly be a list of news events which are no longer current, but simply pasting their strings into google brings them up. Some of them, yes, there seems to be no consequence management, but they each have different cases right? Some cases, like Epstein, you first have to confirm you have something more than just one person's accusation, before you arrest them. Other cases, like shot down airliners, there are suspects, but the point is, if it's a country that's' responsible, you can either push them for war crimes at the Hague or you can declare war. Neither prospect is successful if the perps are not easily identified. So the fact that some things are not in the news anymore can be put down to (a) loss of interest (b) lack of evidence (c) low level of importance (d) that investigations are still ongoing. Jumping to "the Elites are covering it up!!!" is just tinfoil stuff. We know that the "elites" do that. However, not always. It depends on the case in question.

Anyone know what's up with the BP censorship? Never seen any place constantly substitute "pass away" for "die", "kill", "murder", etc. It can't be on grounds of offensiveness right, because those words are not profanities or even taboo (and BP still have plenty of posts about real dark stuff even if the language is sanitised). Is it something to do with SEO i.e. they don't wanna come up in websearches for "murder" etc.? Either way, it's a really weird choice as it's a pretty big alteration of meaning and connotation.

There's currently one in my hometown, my dad is part of the investigation as the person who alerted the right people. We are a container port town, over 800 people are registered at the Port to work and do so regularly, half of those on the higher up boards work regularly, earning 2000 per week. The port pays all it's employees only 1% of its entire income. That amount of money is incredible. The past couple years when union dues are paid out, money has been discovered missing and then paid late. We are also desperately in need of new equipment, but whenever something breaks down, they cancel the shift instead. There is more than enough money to pay for new equipment so people can work. So what's happening? My dad was one of the people in charge of the money, he's kept every paper possible and retired from that job. But the person who took his place has had questionable coincidences happening.
Because of my dad's position BTW, he's able to occasionally check up on things. He's noticed things not adding up. There's been a lot of sudden investigations lately, if they find something we could actually lose contracts and people will be out of work. If this port shuts down, so does this town.

I wish more people knew about the atrocity that was China's One-Child policy, and how that resulted in thousands of baby girls being forcibly aborted or abandoned at orphanages where they were bound to chairs for days on end in the 'hope' they'd just die so there was one child less to deal with. The documentary was criticized for being 'wholly exaggerated', but I really wonder how they got the footage they got, then, if it was 'exaggerated'.
