Human history is notorious for strange events. No wonder there are tons of conspiracy theories surfing around that aim to explain them in one way or the other. Some are totally bogus, others are somewhat debatable.

So when someone posed an illuminating question “What strange events have gotten swept under the rug like they didn't even happen?” on the Ask Reddit community recently, it seemed to have hit a soft spot for many. People shared some of the most incredible events that got totally forgotten, or that everyone pretends they forgot, including an extreme personal data breach on a global scale, an audit that found $8M of taxpayers' money missing, and unidentified snipers taking out cars starting last summer. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Below we collected some of the strangest events that people shared in the thread and it makes you wonder if someone has a solid explanation for each and every one of them.

I heard the book that had names about the Epstein stuff get legally sealed after Maxwell's trial instead of being investigated. If it did, then why wasn't it investigated as well?

Except that googling "rich men who participated in Jeffery Epstein's island " gives you several hits with lists of rich men who participated in Jeffery Epstein's island. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/aug/10/jeffrey-epstein-trump-clinton-friends or https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/07/jeffrey-epstein-bill-clinton-donald-trump-alan-dershowitz.html and https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2019/07/237389/jeffrey-epstein-friends-involved-sex-trafficking

Men, and women. Much focus has been on the young women, but an equal number of young men were trafficked to powerful people. There is almost no reporting on that aspect of his story though.

The Church of Scientology is a sick, abusive cult. They are protected because of the same reason Jeffery Epstein & clients are. They are too powerful. They have too much dirt on people who are famous and have tons of money. They disappear, abuse and cancel people all the time. The leader of the Church isn't any better than a sociopath despot. They kill people, kill their families, hunt people down, have jails, brainwashing centers, deprivation centers, physical and mental abuse. There's tons of books out there written by escapees, and every one is more horrific than the others. Best yet, since they're a "church", they are tax free and never investigated.

People need to take the time to watch Leah Remini's series on Scientology. They can make your life a living hell if you speak out. They manage to do this by stepping right up to the line where it would cross over into stalking/harassment. Very scary stuff. Their followers are totally brainwashed into handing over thousands of dollars they don't have, to pay for courses to reach the state of "clear,". Trust me, I know, it takes determination, conviction and courage to leave a cult, especially this one. When I got out of the one I was in, I "got out of Dodge", so to speak. They found my parents, they found me even though I'd moved to another country. Take the advice from The X Files. It's true!

Covid depression Is one of the most predominant factors that most of us have experienced throughout the past 2 years, yet no one talks about it. You know that thing that makes you feel so used up that you download a bunch of apps that you know won’t make you happy? Maybe eat more, sleep more, stay in your house more. Then a war hits and you feel so incredibly useless to the perpetual tragedy that you just shut down. Yeah, that thing.

I acknowledge that Covid has affected people's mental health drastically. What I feel is REALLY being swept under the carpet is Long Covid, which is affecting a huge number of people with effects that may well be permanent, and many of these people are health workers who were forced into Covid situations without sufficient PPE or vaccinations. Governments are not doing anything about that.

I am sorry but I feel like this is whataboutism and totally takes away from the issue stated here, which is depression increasing or getting worse in the past 2 years. Long Covid is being discussed everywhere but i havent seen big reports and data on mental health, other than the casual "covid is no good for depressed people"-article. Yes, Long Covid is a thing but mental health matters.

But since the most of my life is my social interactions i was deppresed during covid. I hated it. i hated online school. But now im better. It still hurts thinking about that. My whole immediate family and tons of people on the street we lived on saw the aircraft come overhead. We all stood there speechless and terrified until it passed then the whole block freaked out. Nobody will ever convince me it was flairs. We all saw the outline and structure of the craft clearly. It was so big and slow it was amazing it was staying in the air. I guess from the name its in US, so some kind of military craft is the most plausible explanation.

I saw those, and so did a bunch of other people I know, mid 90s (No idea when Phoenix Lights were seen though?) But I saw them in SWEDEN. Other side of the planet. 😐😐😐 No joke. They sort of moved slow over the sky, in kind of a circular slow motion. Never thought much about it, since I grew up fairly close to an airport.

A police officer just got probation and not put on the sex offender registry after raping a 12 yr old for two years until she was 14 and her parents found out. A judge made excuses for him. I see that a lot of judges make excuses for rapists and still women are questioned why they don't come forward.

apparently one in seven people in hong kong have been involved in protesting annually at the very least. Yet, governmental and bureaucratic crackdowns have shoved it under the radar. The real problem is the media's non-reporting of such issues because people get 'bored' of it and they're corporations which pander to people.

I seem to remember a mortgage relief package that went exactly the same way. Companies were given mucho monies to lower peoples rates. I remember applying and they used the system to up my monthly payment and charge me personally for appraisals they didn't even use and added the cost to my principal so I ended up paying interest on it. I even did a three way call with a government lawyer on the line and they hung up on us both when she told them she was a lawyer.

Lmao, yeah. Im sure Trump's algebra did their talent and that talent called "fraud" which they're usually good at it. Just like Brian Kolfage's Border Wall fund, Steve Barron and Donald Jr were also involved. Alot of donors were pissed and others gladly donate if its help them.

Yeah, the British taxpayers are going to have to foot the bill for all the billions that the UK government have written off due to their lack of oversight about who they were handing money over to for covid relief. They're not even trying to solve those crimes even though there's a literal money trail, and as we have a conservative government who don't like taxing the rich, as usual it'll be the poor and disabled yet again paying for their negligence.

What's new? Remember how the banks caused a major financial fück up so people lost their homes and their savings and somehow the banks were rewarded by governments who gave them billions of dollars to fix it? Remember how the banks next used a big portion of that money to hand out millions of dollars on bonuses to the people who caused this mess?

Governments in Europe had to give money to companies. Bad results and American companies trying to buy them with monopoly money. Ones sold the profits would end up somewhere else (but not in your country).

Well THIS IS the United States where there isn't truly a government, but corporate owned instead. This Country will never give a f**k about its citizens, only what can be done to give corporations / the 1% more money off our backs. Capitalism is a joke, and it's baffling some ppl don't get that.

This happened all over the world where relief money was offered to companies. There's a ski resort near me that ended up with $1.37 million in relief funds and just a few months later started construction and opened a state of the art $13 million lodge. It ended the year with a surplus of $1.5 million - 3 times the year before.

It was in the beginning of 2020 right after the US assassinated/murdered Iranian General Soleimani. The plane was shot down; Iran initially denied it, then they claimed it was a mistake. This would have been a bigger deal, but then 2020 happened.

This one is a bit of a myth, the bots were created to communicate and barter with each other, however initially they were not set to communicate in English only. As a result they started using their own short hand version of communication to be more efficient. Once this was identified they didn't shut down the program, they just changed the parameters so the communication was in standard English.

What exactly means "journalist who discovered it" - do you mean the one who reported the PP to the newspapers who then went to research everythign? Because it wasn't just one journalist or one newspaper. Maybe you mean the whistleblower? (Although I've also never heard of that and we do get one of the major papers who put in research and reported on it very detailed)

But nothing beyond that, because well, as per the Epstein issue, the super-high-up people just remove people who are inconvenient and cover inconvenient stuff. It's up to grassroots people to hold them to account. There's nothing for example stopping you creating a lawsuit or putting it to the Hague.

There’s a mysterious neurodegenerative disorder identified in 2019 that is ONLY found within New Brunswick. It has symptoms similar to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, or “mad cow disease,” but it isn’t caused by prions. They have no idea what causes it. So far, almost 50 people have the disease and 6 have passed away. The youngest affected was only 18. The provincial government is pushing back on research efforts and transparency and has essentially cut aid from federal and international investigation efforts. Since then, they’ve started discrediting patients and their families.

    Jo Choto

There are things like prions which are not prions. I believe they are ultimately responsible for all of our many, many neurodegenerative diseases, like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, etc. A reason why I don't eat meat is that things like prions (the ones we know about) are not killed in cooking, which means that the disease is passed on no matter what you do with the meat. While many countries have safeguards for animal farming and killing and butchering and meat prep, and what you can feed livestock, these are bypassed by companies like McDonald's by rearing most of their animals in Brazil. You cannot possibly imagine, even in the US, in what condition animals are allowed to become human food. If you spend 30 minutes reading about these things, you would probably be horrified. So one day, in 10, 20, 30 years when we find all the neurodegenerative diseases come from tainted meat consumption, remember me!

How did you conclude it is not true from a quick google search? There was no real investigation because the statue of limitations expired. Nobody except these two and the 30 apparent victims know the truth.

I find the concept of a statute of limitations to be mindboggling. Canada has them only for the least serious offences, which are called summary conviction offences. There are very few of these in our law. To get away with a serious offence by just running out the clock on being charged with it is really disturbing to me.

The floods on the east coast of Australia super recently, we experienced 1000ml of rain in less then a day, whole towns have been wiped out, there are landslides and people are still missing. There are no supplies, no food, no fuel, no electricity and no water. They are still finding bodies, and there are still people stranded on cliff faces and mountains that could collapse any minute. If you drive through Lismore NSW right now, everyone’s belongings are all in piles larger then the houses on the street, there is sewage and toxic waste covering thousands of square metres. Civilians have had to rescue people from bridges, off roofs and off mountains, risking their lives while suffering their losses to save others that are in a worse position. Thousands of civilians have been donating their own money, time and resources to help those in need. Our government has done nothing, and is shadow banning anyone speaking out on social media. The newspapers aren’t covering it even though this is the worse natural disaster Australia has experiences in decades. Deaths are going unreported and the media is not covering anything. People have been screaming for the army and other qualified professionals to help. They have been begging to declare a state of emergency. It’s taken 6 days for our prime minister to speak on this, and today he posted on Instagram some very staged images of the military “helping”. These photos show the army in clean clothes, pretending to do tasks and pretending to help. The army was literally instructed to go down there, get some pictures and leave. People literally have been taking photos of them getting photos done with ring lights and other professional lighting equipment. When civilians asked for their help they said that’s not our duty and went back to scrolling on their phones. It’s a disgusting response from our government, and probably the most blatant sweep under the rug I’ve ever seen

This is not quite true. The flood coverage, and particularly Lismore has been covered extensively, both nationally and internationally. While there is a nugget of truth in the accusations about the government response (which has been severely lacking) I think this person is perhaps severely affected and distressed about the situation. The army offered to come and help and were rejected by SES. The government has announced a state of emergency, though somewhat late (it blamed the wheels of the bureaucracy for its tardiness) and help is being mobilised. I anticipate there will be an enquiry into the failures that left people stranded for as long as it has.

Yes, they (SES, Defense Force, Government) have been really slow, but they are making headway now. And I find it hard to believe it wasn't in any newspapers, when it was all over the tv news. It does break my heart thinkin how the people who were stranded must have felt so alone when they couldn't get in contact with SES or 000. I am amazed by the local communities who have been very impactful with their logistics planning- recording names of people who need help and sending people out to them and organizing for lots of donations of food and clothes.

How horrible. I remember when hurricane Sally knocked out the gulf coast, everyone was talking about how it impacted New Orleans, even though it hit the coasts of Florida and Alabama way worse. It made landfall in those states, and didn't even reach Louisianna until after it had gone over land and had partly petered out. But, you know, it's New Orleans, so that's all the media cares about. Two years later and there's still damage that hasn't been fixed. Whole forests and lots of orchards were knocked down. Some roofs still have tarps. A state of emergency was declared and the authorities did respond, so at least there's that, but watching the news and speaking to people from out of state who had no idea what was going on, I remember how much it felt like nobody cared. We care, Australia, if you're reading this.

ScoMo's response has been disgusting, like always. But, it's definitely not being swept under the carpet by most of the world. A lot of people spreading relief fund raisers etc. too. I can't say I quite believe the statement about the army just scrolling on their phones, but I'm happy and open to being proved wrong.

The US is owned mainly by China. China has purchased multi-trillions of dollars worth of US debt by Treasury Bonds. If they ever decided to call in the debt, the US would crash and burn within a day. They only haven't done it because it would also affect their economy. But if there ever comes a day when China's economy doesn't depend on other countries, the US is doomed.

40 Strange Events That Were Swept Under The Rug "Like They Didn't Even Happen" Equifax lost the personal data of almost every single adult (in the US). This is data we didn't give them permission to access, they simply automatically collect it. They are still in business. In September of 2017, Equifax announced a data breach that exposed the personal information of 147 million people. That's out of roughly 210 million adults at that time. That's 70% of the adult population whose data was lost. That's more than likely every single household in the US.

They legally can access and collect that data under US because they are one of 3 companies authorized by the US Govt to collect data related to credit score and rank you. The Data breach was a big issue, which is now why the NSA helps all 3 companies with their security. And the Data breach was a big deal for the feds because it was partially their fault, and why the FBI went on it full force

When I was in public school there was a year-long fundraiser push to raise $75,000 for a new school running track. Was supposed to be really nice paved track. By the end of the school year, they announced that they had met the funding goal and the track was going to be built. The next year we came back, and the school said that they were fundraising $40,000 for the new school track which would be unpaved gravel. When I started asking where the other money went they kept brushing me off like that never happened. I felt like I was taking crazy pills because all the other kids remembered that we had raised $75,000 for an amazing track, but now it was like the money vanished. None of the other kids really cared that much, but there was something really fishy going on. We got the track and it was s**t.

Similar thing with Pentecostal ‘churches’ who raise money for their own building rather than having to use a school gym for services. “God’s Glory Total” it was when I attended thanks to the duplicity of a friend in high school. My mother went along with a friend out of politeness 20 years later: ‘God’s Glory Total’ hadn’t budged.

I go further down this rabbit hole and develop my own theories. It benefits her not to list names but to save her own life. Epstein wasn't murdered in his jail cell. Nor did he commit suicide. There's also mo tapes of this happening nor any prison guards with suddenly large bank accounts. He's still alive. It benefits his clients to keep him alive. And she's become the fall woman. Just watch, she's suddenly going to vanish one day too. I know I sound crazy and it's a complete conspiracy, but to me, it's how I'd write it.

It's not like someone took them out of the lost-and-found at a train station or something. Two weapons were lost in a when a plane went missing over the Atlantic between in-air refuelings on its way from Florida to Morocco in 1956. One was intentionally dropped into the Atlantic ocean in 1958 when two aircraft collided and it was unclear if the damaged bomber could land safely (that bomb did not have its nuclear core installed). A nuclear armed US navy plane rolled off the deck of an aircraft carrier in 1965 and sank in 4800 meters of water. Another bomb is somewhere under the arctic ocean after a plane crash in 1968, but was probably rendered inert when it hit the ice.

Several went into the abyss (Bomb jettisoned over Atlantic Ocean, 1957; Nuclear depth charge lost over Pacific off Washington state, 1959; Nuclear armed aircraft falls off aircraft carrier in Philippine sea, 1968; Submarine with two bombs lost off Azores, 1968). The famous, scary one was over Savannah, Georgia, US., but the U.S. claims the bomb wasn't armed, which, given the fact it was never sought out, probably is the truth. Documents back up that flights armed with Mark 15 payloads weren't allowed.

I honestly think too many people are making waaaaaay more of a big deal than it is. My insane mother took this info and ran with it and has become convinced she was abducted by aliens in '97. I have no contact with her but, seriously, this WAS made a big deal out of.... By all the completely wrong people and most people that aren't paranoid or living under a rock kind of already accepted that you're not going to be able to identify everything in the sky. I recon what they are doing is publicly showing the videos so that whoever is flying theses things knows that they know. If it a potentially hostile nation testing equipment, for example it's a way of saying "we see you". UFOs have been used to cover secret test flights has been used since WWI. They feed the media the sketchy videos and vague information and let the freaks in the media hype it up

Except whenever new technology gets seen and assumed as a UFO it shortly gets proven was not a UFO and simply new technology. What's the point of inventing something that changes the laws of physics as we know it and not sharing it with the world. In short do you really think that someone invented a vehicle in the 60s that could break the sound barrier and perform maneuvers that are completely impossible to our technology and then not brag about it and instead keep it secret and just sort of fly around US military bases for 70 years?

UFO is an acronym for "Unidentified Flying Object" When the Navy etc. say UFO's are real all they are saying is there is stuff that we cannot identify flying around. That is NOT surprising, it is merely an admission of not being perfect. It could be something natural like ball lightning. You implying that it is Aliens is the only strange thing going on.

The Pentagon didn't "lose" anything. An audit of FY1999 revealed 2.3 trillion dollars worth of TRANSACTIONS which were not supported by an adequate audit trail. The money didn't disappear, their accounting system wasn't adequately tracking money moving between internal accounts. The whole Pentagon budget for that year was 450 billion dollars. Remember that if $100 moves between four different accounts, that's $400 worth of transactions even those there was only ever $100.

Most of this seems to be on 9/11 conspiracy truther sites. What is was is that an investigation over missing funds found that from Jan 1996 to jan 2001 period 2.3 trillion in govt contracts from the DoD were unaccounted for. Not that they had lost. These were monies in contacts that either were unfulfilled, overbilled, or lost in the beaurocracy.

Not quite. He was talking about the information lag and non-compatibility of various different departments' accounting practices and software, which meant that they simply did not have one comprehensive system tracking Pentagon spending and that they were unable to identify the use of $2.3 trillion under current systems. The money wasn't missing. They just couldn't access all the records of what had been done because of lack of technology.

It's because ppl are so addicted to SM they don't care. So they just ignore all of the negatives N only focus on the 2-3 "positive" things that they can't live without, so it's easier to swallow. Nobody wants to admit they are being controlled, manipulated n are addicted to something as dumb as FB. so denial is the only answer. My mom is so bad. She posts EVERYTHING. I mean, last week I had to put my 11yo pitbull to sleep (bladder cancer)a dog she hasn't seen in 8yrsmind you. she immediately posted on FB about how her "granddog" passed away n how she's "SO HEARTBROKEN" n made this huge tribute post W/ the only photo she has w/ my dog (since she barely knew him) n got 100s of comments/likes. ppl spewing their generic quotes to her. n then I get inundated w/ messages, I wasn't even home from the vet yet.. when I confronted her n asked her to take it down she could not understand what she did wrong! Like HELLO! that's not ur business to share! She just didn't understand......

That's HOW FUCKEN BRAINWASHED ppl are.. that sharing personal things, that ARENT EVEN their fucken business.. is just second nature. Putting everything out there for fake ass ppl to comment fake ass s**t.. is something THEY NEED to do.. they need that fake ass attention.. n when they don't have enough trauma or tragedy to post about for attention they post about others w/out even considering it. That's so f****d up. So thats why everyone ignored what FB did. They can't give up their drug.

Epstein had to jump through like 3 tiers of a coincidence to commit suicide the way he did. either he was coerced into actual suicide and told when the guards were going on break and when the CCTV would go out randomly, or we are supposed to assume the former. I still don't buy it.

And the tiers of coincidence were made possible by more coincidences like taking him from suicide watch and placing his cell mate in another cell as well as guards who were neglecting their duty on the exact moment Epstein was suicided in the only cell in the complex where CCTV wasn't working.

Can't say I feel sorry for the guy, but there was something odd about it. He knew too much. He was blackmailing some very influential people. Wether he was murdered or killed himself, he didn't want to spend the rest of his life in jail and died with a lot of other people's secrets.

He had every reason to want to kill himself. Others had many reasons to want him dead. One way or another he's dead and he probably would've been whether it was by his own hand or not. The only thing about that case that truly shocks me to my core is how long they managed to get away with it.

No. He knows where the bodies are buried and he knows who buried them. I will never believe that he committed suicide on the night that all of the guards responsible for hourly checks were shopping on line, the cameras were all malfunctioning and his cellmate(s) were all conveniently transferred out.

There was a huge scandal involving the UK foster care system. Social workers were getting paid more for each child they placed in foster care. This resulted in 100s/1000s of children being placed into foster care that didn’t need to be. To this day there has been no uproar or anything about it, it got swelter under the rug and unless you were personally involved (myself) then you will more than likely not have any idea about it.

Or the Rochdale circle of child traffickers who weren't investigated despite several tips out of fear that the police would be accused of racial profiling. In the end nine men were convicted, of whom eight were of British Pakistani origin and one was an Afghan. But that was only after a woman informed the media about their practices and how the police chose to look away.

Very sad because they both admitted they hated the kids, most of them came from broken homes, abuse etc. and they just made sure they covered there asses, got paid.

The EASE with which children can be removed from their parents (especially from families who have fewer resources in the way of family, friends, and caring neighbors) should scare the crud out of all of us. There is FAR too much power given to workers to take children from homes even temporarily. Workers should be trained primarily as community liaisons to help families access services and resources to continue raising their children as best they can, and removing a child from a home even temporarily, should be so ridiculously difficult that it truly is a final, final resort. (Disclosure: I have NEVER had a child removed from me, nor have I ever even had a visit from social workers. I have seen the impact on families, however, and the system in the U.S. is beyond broken.)

Or the other way. In Spain it is almost impossible to take a child away even if they are not safe. A friend of mine worked in a very poor district as teacher. One of her students was a boy whose sister was forced into prostitution as a teenager by their mother. CS took the girl away but let the boy with that monster "because she didnt abuse him".

There were genuine placements too. I used to pay fees for foster children sent to other local authorities. I read why most of them had been taken from their so called parents. Horrible. But yes there were children who should never have been placed in foster care and/or adopted. Parents accused of harming them who were later exonerated but couldn’t get their children back because they had been adopted. Some laws clearly need changing.

This happens in The Netherlands too. Social workers get massive bonuses for each child taken from its parents. They literally get a handbook on how to manipulatively ask questions and purposely twist parents answers to make it look like they are shitty parents, they even go so far as fabricate medical diagnoses (mental issues) in front of judges ot make parents seem unfit, so they can take away more children. They do everything they can to hide this

Shootings have become so normal in the US that any incident makes it 2 consecutive days at most in the media, because there's always a new incident where some fool with a gun kills people for reasons like "Hamburger was too big", "It was my parking spot.", "He told me to wear a mask." "He was texting in the theatre."

The sad truth is that we, in the US, live in a gun culture. Our current gun laws do nothing to keep guns out of the hands of people who want to get one. Nothing. Those of us who hate it can protest, or we can vote for politicians who claim to be progressive, but end up doing nothing. There are no good choices, and it's disgusting. Just today, there was a news story of a 3 year old shooting and killing their mom. They were just sitting in their car in the parking lot at a grocery store. There was a loaded gun within reach of a toddler, without the safety on. In the car. And it didn't have to happen.

Well you won't. What you do know, like every shooting in the US, is that it's your lax gun laws that allows people like him to have guns like that. And you've already proven you don't care. You don't care when children get massacred, so who cares about some random dudes attending a concert? Either do something about your disgusting gun culture or stfu. The rest of the world is sick of it.

You are absolutely right about us living in a gun culture and having stupid, lax gun laws. And you are absolutely wrong about us not caring about "children getting massacred". A great many of us DO care, and absolutely hate it, and it's pretty shitty and arrogant of you to say otherwise. Maybe you're the one who needs to stfu.

I absolutely agree that the gun violence in the US is beyond disgusting, and there's no way I'd defend any part of it - it's absolutely reprehensible. Posts like this just pour fuel on the fire - it's not changing the minds of the gun nuts who live here, and it doesn't help the people who are wanting to change it. The money was lost in "day to day running expenses" The CEO of the company later ran for major an won. Not necessarily strange but terrifying - since the 80s there has been a group of Christian anti-nuclear pacifists called The Plowshare movement. They have broken into numerous nuclear arms facilities over the years to peacefully protest and have got into major trouble with many of them receiving multiple prison sentences for their efforts with no intent to stop but the major takeaway from their activities is how shockingly easy it was for them to plan and gain access to these facilities. Sometimes it would be hours before they were discovered by military personnel after gaining access to sites. And it begs the question that if they’re a peaceful protest group what would happen if a terrorist organization were to attempt it? There’s a book about it called Gods of Metal.

"Liz McAlister and six other protesters sneaked into Griffiss Air Force Base, in Rome, New York. It was remarkably easy.. they just pulled the fence strands apart... Someone who had spent time at the base—where the Strategic Air Command kept B-52 bombers on alert with nuclear weapons—told McAlister where to go. The activists opened the unlocked door of a hangar and said, “Hello, anybody home?” Nobody replied, so they walked in. They poured blood on the floor and on a B-52, pasted photographs of children onto the plane, hammered its bomb-bay doors, and awaited arrest. But nobody came. After about half an hour, one of them picked up a phone in the hangar, called the base switchboard, and wished the operator a “Happy Thanksgiving.” Still nobody came. They wandered around outside for about an hour, singing and holding the banner, until security forces arrived. Break-In at Y-12 The New Yorker

While they shouldnt be able to get into the facility, I still highly doubt that they were even close to accessing the nuclear material.

My sister is one of the plowshares. Spent close to a year in jail. Walked into the Electric Boat ship yard in Groton CT with her fellow Christian protestors and onto U.S.S.Ohio nuclear missile armed sub being being built there. (No nuclear weapons on board.) They saw no one until after their act of civil disobedience. Couldn't be more proud of her.

Think about this. They put a pipeline in (Dakota Access Pipeline) that runs under major waterways including the Missouri River across multiple states in the US. It's mainly owned in no small part by foreign investors. They certainly don't guard it. (Not one drop of the oil is actually used in the US.) And all it would take is a tiny bit of destruction to cause major havoc to large populations in the US. It's a national security risk and Obama, most of the Democrats, the Republicans, did nothing about it. Allowed protesters to be treated inhumanely such that the UN wrote it up. The oil company paid the police in North Dakota to act as brutal security guards against protesters when it was being built.

I mean, that's understandable... that we haven't really heard about it I mean... they can't admit that they've failed at "protecting" these very very secretive n dangerous facilities from protesters... because that would show the rest of the world where our weakness's are... ya know!? Not saying it's right. But that's the game of our country!

The financial panic of 2008 was triggered by a $550 Billion drawdown of money market accounts in the USA at about 11 AM on Thursday, Sept 15, 2008. It was an electronic run on the banks. Had they not closed down the money market accounts immediately, the Treasury estimated that by 2 PM that afternoon, $5.5 Trillion would have been withdrawn and the entire economy of the United States would have collapsed, and within 24 hours the world economy would have collapsed. Who did the initial $550 Billion drawdown? This info was put in the memory hole, and the press does not discuss it. The Wikipedia article Global financial crisis in September 2008 has only the following sentence: "By the morning of September 18, money market sell orders from institutional investors totaled $0.5 trillion, out of a total market capitalization of $4 trillion, but a $105 billion liquidity injection from the Federal Reserve averted an immediate collapse.[22][23]"

This was caused when Lehmen Bros went under, nearly taking the Reserve with them. The dollar value fell to $0.97, and EVERY investor pulled what they could. Causing further collapse, and causing the "auto stop" program to ceaae trading.

It's what happens in all dictatorships. Cut off people from information and feed them only state-sponsored propaganda. Right now in Russia, most people think Russia is defending itself from an attack from the West, siphoned through Ukraine. That's what they are being told. We need to work harder to get real news to the Russian people, because the ones that do know the truth are standing up, protesting and being arrested in their thousands.

In Minneapolis during the George Floyd uprising, our governor cut the WIFI to the entire city so that no one could livestream the National Guard's abuse. They did it just after 2:30 am when they figured Betty & Frank Everyman would be asleep & not feel the impact of Absolute Terror that act imposed. The entire situation was corrupt from the jump, starting with them calling in & holding back the Guard for 2 days doing Nothing while they planted rioters to create the damage the protesters weren't creating to their liking, then our Black DA goes live & tells his people [white voters] the Guard are the "Good Guys, not the police-you don't have to be afraid of them.", -they've been militarized since the Bush admin & spend 1yr in active war. They terrorized us in Mpls with their presence 3+ mo after it was over. The area destroyed they've been trying to take from POC since the 1970's. To rebuild they have to pay for permits, licences & 1/2 yr's taxes Up Front. Govt. won through lies.

For Real, non legacy footage go to Unicorn Riot's website or look them up on YouTube. That situation taught "big tech" a lot about how their platforms can be used to prove truth beyond the narrative, but with the recent 2 yrs of hysteria generated, this was done by Outright censoring even the creator of the products we're being given and accused of "promoting hesitancy", so websites like Rumble are popping up as a place to post livestreams. Even with that live footage, people still listen to the stations known to be liars, so most use Mpls as an example of rioting Violence, when most of that couldn't be further from the truth but people are too lazy to research beyond their cable networks. It's Horrifying to have witnessed Saudi-type censorship going on in the US that no one cares about. That sh!t is HERE folks. Right now. Why are we standing for it. THIS site auto-censors text. When did this become OK?

The term, "banana republic" became the singular term in the United States to refer to a propped-up dictatorship; and would pretty much be the singular basis for 90% of Hollywood depictions of the CIA. I would admit it's highly likely that many people today don't know where the term "banana republic" comes from, nor why the CIA is seen as right-wing.

The New York district attorney, Alvin Bragg, no longer charges armed robbery as a felony. It's now a misdemeanor petit larceny, meaning that an armed robber won't even lose his right to carry a weapon if he gets caught and convicted.

In the UK 'armed robbery' isn't a separate crime, it's all robbery. The use of weaponry would be treated, and therefore charged, separately. Maybe this is something similar? And if it's acceptable to open carry, then it would be a robbery charge and possibly a charge for using the weapon to threaten people? We don't use the word 'felony' so I don't really know what it is specifically, but maybe that's enough for robbery while holding a weapon to drop out of the category?

The first time I saw "Grease" I really wondered why they cast such an openly gay man as a hetero love interest. I think for many of us, it just wasn't a surprise. I'm pretty sure the only reason he stays in the Scientology cult is because they bury the rumours. It's a shame, because it should not matter one iota if he's gay or bi or straight or anything else. Why hide it?

A slightly frivolous example - after Madonna & Britney Spears kissed at some awards ceremony in the early 00s, Beyonce made some comments at the time which could be construed as mildly homophobic (citing her religious beliefs). More or less any mention of this has been scrubbed off the internet now and it's quite difficult to find details of it. Her PR team worked overtime on that one.

That's why she shows off her tits in pretty much every outfit that she wears, because that's what pious women do. /s Seriously though, do celebrities not have anything better to do than to throw shade at their colleagues? I don't want to besmirch an innocent name.It just goes to show there's a whole world we don't know about, and an explanation for how these people end up so hugely wealthy. They accept the money of dreadful people that are as rich as they are because they have screwed over the people of their own country.

Not that this excuses anything but name a country that Doesn't screw over its people. In order to Have a rich top tier of wealthy there Must be millions of backs that have been broken with little to no compensation. That's the only way such a large shift of wealth can take place. It happens in the US, but people here have been properly trained to be in denial. The one that makes me angriest are those who yank healthy, thriving tribes out of their homes and into filthy cities for political purposes then abandoned diseased and destitute. A special place in hell for that, right next to industrial waste ruining habitats. Your point is why the UN doesn't work, realistically.

I was born in 1972 & grew up hearing that Muammar Gaddafi was an evil murderer. At age 49 I assumed this was still the story. Glancing at what Google shows when searching his name, [corrupt] Wikipedia is posted at top as authority per usual: "Muammar Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi was a Libyan revolutionary, politician & political theorist." So now he's good? I work as a loader on the dock at the Mpls Star Tribune & watched the headlines for 5 days cover the ISIS takeover, showing horror- then all of a sudden under the front page fold it reads: "Citizens weary of new government". Now we're to recognize Terrorists as being Government? WTF is going on here? You gotta lobotomize folks to get them to forget the narrative That Fast. It's like were intentionally being messed with so that we always question ourselves and what we should expect as reality. I'm ready to check out. Too poor to do so. Also, Hillary was accused of being paid by UN banned leaders for speeches when she ran for president.

As someone living in Washington state, where the first murder hornets were found, I can say murder hornet nests are still being looked for. Since they were discovered in our state I believe 4 nests have been found and destroyed. There hasn't been much I've heard on them in a few months but it was an ongoing concern locally for over a year after their discovery. The positive here is that it doesn't seem like they ever spread as much as was initially feared

I recall reading about them tracking them back to nests and destroying them. I believe I only read about two successful times and several failed attempts due to death of the hornet before it could reach the destination. I'm so glad they've gotten four nests though. That's definitely progress.

From the American Constitution Society: The investigation produced 37 indictments; seven guilty pleas or convictions; and compelling evidence that the president obstructed justice on multiple occasions. Mueller also uncovered and referred 14 criminal matters to other components of the Department of Justice. Trump associates repeatedly lied to investigators about their contacts with Russians, and President Trump refused to answer questions about his efforts to impede federal proceedings and influence the testimony of witnesses. A statement signed by over 1,000 former federal prosecutors concluded that if any other American engaged in the same efforts to impede federal proceedings the way Trump did, they would likely be indicted for multiple charges of obstruction of justice.

A friend of Johnson was being investigated by a journalist, so he rang up Johnson to ask for the journalist's home address, making it clear he was going to use that information to intimidate and even "rough up" the journalist. Johnson gave him the address and basically said "If anyone asks, tell them you didn't get it from me!".

The fact is that in the US, people under 20 and people with mental and physical disabilities can be paid less than minimum wage. The reasoning? To “increase employment opportunities for these individuals.”

California passed legislation banning the practice. What's sad is that many sheltered workshops were good for people and shut down rather than pay them minimum wage. https://www.employmentlawhandbook.com/employment-and-labor-laws/states/california/wage-and-hour/minimum-wage/#:~:text=Beginning%20January%201%2C%202022%2C%20California%20minimum%20wage%20laws,the%20standard%20minimum%20wage%20for%20all%20hours%20worked.

There are benefits to this. Many of them cannot perform the job even to minimum standards. A lower wage encourages companies to employ them even though the job may need to be finished or redone. My company used to hire these individuals for basic janitorial services. The would come in with a handler. The job almost always had to be redone by someone else but we kept them coming in anyway. It gave them a sense of purpose and they developed working relationships with many people here. Now that special licensing is gone in CA, we no longer employ them and have contracted to a janitorial service. It's a missed opportunity for them.

I've worked for a company in the past that did the same, but also sent a crew to the local company that manufactured brake pads and similar products. When the lady that usually accompanied them to these places went on maternity leave, I took turns with other staff to take them to their jobs. The group I had out performed the ladies that were hired by the school system to work in the kitchen at the high school, on clean up and dishes. Then later in the evening they did janitorial work there as well. The crew at the brake factory did the same rate or better than the staff of the factory at parts that had to be hand inspected. It was grueling work for some of them, standing on their feet for hours, and they should have been paid minimum wage in all those cases. When they can maintain the workload of a able bodied person doing the same job, they deserve the same pay. I'm sure there are cases where some of the workers in programs such as these are less able to stay on task. Not my case tho.

Havana syndrome is an alleged set of medical symptoms with unknown causes experienced mostly abroad by U.S. government officials and military personnel. The symptoms range in severity from pain and ringing in the ears to cognitive difficulties and were first reported in 2016 by U.S. and Canadian embassy staff in Havana, Cuba. Beginning in 2017, more people, including U.S. intelligence and military personnel and their families, reported having these symptoms in other places, such as China, New Delhi, India, Europe, and Washington, D.C.The cause and validity of the illness have yet to be determined.

There are truly sick people that think things like that are funny, but some are far more dangerous than others. 40 Strange Events That Were Swept Under The Rug "Like They Didn't Even Happen" Kind of random but last summer it got to be 50 degrees Celsius in greater Vancouver bc (the highest recorded temperature in Canada ever) and the next day the city of Lytton burned down. It was a phenomenon called a heat dome. It was really scary because no one ever thought it could get that hot here, and a ton of people passed away because only about 60% of places have AC. It was one of the scariest things I’ve ever been through. No one talks about it at all anymore and that is terrifying to me Edit: I have been reminded numerous times that Lytton is not greater than Vancouver. Temps in greater Van were measured in the mid ’40s but with humidity, it felt more like 50. I stand corrected. Extreme weather nonetheless, especially as many places like kitchens and warehouses do not have a/c and temps in those places skyrocketed. My townhouse in south surrey measured in the upper 40s on the top floor. I also have had several people tell me that this is still discussed by people in their lives, I was just stating that I don’t hear of it at all, personally.

I think that was pretty much the 1st phrase on the list after hello :( There was one that the UN did, and then when NATO took over they gave us thicker books with a lot more phrases in. The geologic record shows the poles flipping at random intervals, the last being ~780,000 years ago. It's not really that big of a deal. Some migratory animals might get confused, you might have to scribble out N and S on your compass.

Metcalf sniper attack On a random day in 2013, somebody in California decided to go underground and cut phone lines. Thirty minutes later, professional snipers sprayed the Metcalf power substation for twenty minutes. They severely damaged all transformers and cost the company $15 million. Literally a minute before the police arrive, the snipers began fleeing. How did they get in? Why were they so emboldened to shoot for twenty darn minutes? What were their motivations? And why run away right before the police car arrived? To this day, no one knows who these guys are. No fingerprints were found. We tend to take things like infrastructure for granted, and it’s events like this that make me feel queasy because the perpetrators got off scot-free and probably paved the path for future copycats around the country.

The fact that brokers made it impossible to buy stocks in a couple of companies (GME, AMC, BBY, BB, etc…) that were insanely shorted (fake shares created to bring the price of a company artificially down) beyond their available shares, and only allowing people to sell their shares. This insane collusion between market makers, brokers, and even the governing body of markets (SEC) was quickly swept under the rug….until people started buying in mass and holding said stocks of each company to push the hedge funds to insolvency

It’s much less disillusioning to navigate politics if you assume you’re being lied to about everything, do your own research, and don’t believe anything until you’ve verified it with several separate sources.

It was anything but swept under the rug. In The Netherlands there has been an update on the investigation and trials every other week or so, it's just moving at a very slow pace because almost all parties potentially involved went like "It wasn't us, it was them!" for years. I believe we even had a national moment of silence for it last year (or maybe before that, I'm not sure).
