Whether we like it or not, our parents plant mental and emotional seeds in us. These seeds grow as we do. In some families, they are seeds of love, respect and independence. In other families, it’s fear, guilt, obligation and toxic mentality.
So while it may be hard to wrap your head around why exactly some parents use their kids to get special treatment, this often happens with controlling parents. Controlling parents tend to be anxious, paranoid and possessive. They like taking things into their hands and knowing what’s best for their kids. Sometimes that means they don’t allow their kids to nurture their personalities and forbid them from taking interest in things, like playing guitar or joining a soccer team at school.

What state is this??? That's a great way to ensure that your kids never have a good relationship with a man if you are a single mom. If the guy is not on the birth certificate, hasn't adopted the child, isn't biological father but is a live in boyfriend for a few years they can be charged child support if there is a breakup?? Is this true?!

I'm assuming this is in America, the child support system seems to be so f****d up over there. I once read that a 14 year old boy was r*ped by a 20 year old woman who got pregnant but didn't tell him. When he was 18, she successfully sued him for child support. I read another story where a young girl was r*ped by an adult male. She got pregnant and had the baby, hiding all of it from the man. He found out and went to court for visitation rights. I never found out the outcome though, I really hope he wasn't successful.
The whole court system in the USA is F'd up not just when it comes to child support, which when it comes to paying they solely look at how much you make to determine the amount, if you even bring up "well how am I going to pay my bills?" They honestly don't care if you end up homeless or destitute as long as you're paying the child support, which they will throw you in jail if you're late on payments

Our first year in our apartment we didn't know that there'd be no trick or treaters. Bought tons of candy. We were sad. The next morning we put out a little table with a bowl of candy and a sign inviting our neighbors to have some. My husband worked at 4am and up at 2:30am, we went to bed at 8pm. About 11pm that night we get woken up by someone pounding on the door. I open the door and it's our upstairs neighbor. Apparently we'd run out of candy and she needed us to fill the bowl straight away. I could've killed her. I said no, we were sleeping and shut the door in her face, went back to bed. When my husband opens the door to head out for work he calls me to come see. She took the table and bowl and left us a note. Since we didn't have candy she took what she was "owed". Alrighty then.
How sad. ..I guess for some. Halloween brings out the demons.

This sounds bad but I don't have sympathy for the single mom card. My mother was a single mom for literally 12 years with almost no real support. She never pulled that card. She showed up for her kids and worked her a** off for her kids.

This is exactly why I rarely help anyone. There are more of these people in the world than anyone can imagine. Ungrateful, entitled people who think others owe them. I was told by someone that because I have a job and can make more money, that I should give them my entire paycheck so they could have some money. I told them to visit the company's website, as we were hiring for many positions. They said they didn't want a job, they just wanted money and that I needed to give them my paycheck. When I told them no, they called me a selfish a$$ hole. I promptly threw them out of my house.
I gave away an electric lawnmower for free a couple of weeks ago. Someone actually texted me and said, "I'll take the free lawnmower, but you'll have to deliver it because I don't have a car." He lived 40 miles away. It's so deflating when you're trying to help out a deserving person by giving away something you could just as easily charge for.
its just jerks in general and unless I am mistaken other countries might have a few jerks too?
