What you need to do is go down to your local church, ask the priest for a reverse emancipation form, check the "child" box (it's between the forced labor box and the internment box). I have read this a few times in different places from different people. And to be honest, some of the most horrible, intolerant and rudest people I have met have been extreme religious people.

When they leave what looks like a folded $20 as a tip, but then you open it up and it's a Bible verse and some nonsense about how it's "worth more than gold." I once had a customer offer to tip me $5, but I had to sit and pray with her first. It was degrading, but I was broke and hungry, so I did it.

Only those people who needs to be taught how to behave nicely will spend their sundays in church. The rest of us can pretty much figure that out on our own, and can spend our precious weekend time on something wiser instead.

Please don't confuse church goers with people who are religious.

As a Christian, I can tell you that I see a big difference between those who chose Christianity in adulthood, and those who (for lack of a better word) inherited it. A lot of the inherited crowd are there out of habit, or familial obligation. I've personally stopped attending church, because I don't feel like I fit in.

Same here. And they’ll pull 5 tables together without asking. Then camp out for 4 hours, run the wait staff ragged, get all separate checks, then not tip.

I worked in a church in college in the rural mid-west. I ran the daycare program. This is where I learned that church goers are the most judgemental, cruel, and hypocritical people out there. The gossiping was out of control. The cold shoulder toward those they considered less than was rampant. But the best was seeing some of the people out at bars or parties on Saturday night, getting drunk, cheating on their spouses (usually with the younger crowd), and then seeing them acting all holier than thou at church the next morning. I was once leaving a party, and someone was putting one of our college professors into a car. He was so very drunk, and had been making out with one of his students. As I'm passing by the car to get to the one I was getting in, he drunkenly calls out, "Amelia! I'll see you at church tomorrow!" I took care of his two daughters at the church. The next day he is there with his wife acting the part of a doting husband and father. It was pretty gross.

The working theory is that by having gone to church they not only feel good about their morality, but superior. I hated working Sundays.

I have found that the most religious people are the most unhappy, angriest, people I've ever dealt with. Why are they so mad at everyone? Is that what's being taught in their religion? Or... are they really mad at themselves for being such schmucks?

If I was a server I would go to the nearest church to "confess". And I would open my heart to the priest, saying to him that his flock is a batch of devils, making hell the life of my fellow servers.

When I worked fast food as my first job ever, Sundays after church were absolutely horrible.

Used to direct traffic at a church during after school religious classes . the parents would give the finger for making them stop to let kids cross. The best was a teacher called out when they had to speak about pre martial sex they asked me to fill in , I had a child at 18 ( don't think they knew) I answered all their questions honestly & said always use a condom to protect yourself even if you take the pill.... I was not asked back :) LOL

Is this what churches, in the form of the pastor, priest or rabbi, are condoning / teaching now? Just asking cause the behaviors described are 7 days a week 24 hours a day by the same people

It was the worst shift of the week. Apparently Jesus only takes attendance as these a******s sat and listened to stories of his woke agenda.

I really admire how OP phrased Theis complaint so as not to accuse the entire after church crowd. 100% more than what to expect of the crowd itself.

This is not new. My ex-husband was a busboy back in the early 1980's for what was then a big chain restaurant in California. The city were I grew up had a big evengelical church there even then. The pastor has been the same guy all these years. (He's now vocal Trump supporter, natch -- he was at the Rose Garden when Amy Comey Barrett was presented as a SCOTUS nominee. Anti-vax, white Christian nationalism, the whole enchilada.) My ex HATED working the table when the people from Harvest Christian came to eat lunch after "services".

A friend owned a coffeeshop/restaurant, and the only group she ever banned for life was an after church group. They were blatantly and loudly racist and homophobic.

I've never understood this phenomena.

That's why I don't so organized religion. I find MOST people that "go to church" tend to b like that in all aspects of their lives. That they feel they r somehow entitled to more than anyone else, even tho they don't know if others they encounter r also part of the "blessed"

Everytime i see this I laugh. Most cultures love to see people try the clothes, hairstyles, foods that they have. It's only the really weird that hate it. Also if we're not allowed to try anything and just look or be like our 'culture; is, isn't that a form of segregation???
