I'm not sure what doggo's job is, but I hope it includes plenty of being adorable. I totally relate to this as a work meme, he looks like he just discovered he has to come back every day.

I just hope little Bambi didn't end up rejected by their mom because they smelled like dog. (They don't have their own scent so as not to attract predators). Other than that what a cute picture and what a careful dog.

This is a myth that just will not die. Knock it off and stop spreading it. So many baby animals get "rescued"(i.e. stolen from their mothers by dumb humans) unnecessarily because of stupid lies like this. Stop spreading the dumb s**t people parrot without so much as a Google search.

Dogs love to be useful, in anyway they can. (I had a lab who INSISTED she bring the mail in each day... if I didn't have mail, my mail carrier would put scrap paper in my box to avoid disappointing her). These good boys and girls look like they're headed towards successful S&R careers. Good dogs.

Keeping our good boys and girls happy is one of our top priorities in life. It’s usually somewhere slightly above having a fulfilling career and just below making sure the cat conspiracy doesn’t succeed and the felines don’t end up taking up the world

What this means is genuinely caring about the health and happiness of our four-legged buddies. It means putting in the effort to feed them healthy food. It means getting off the couch even when you’re lazy to go for walkies. It means playing with them and giving them the attention they deserve even when you’d rather do something else. Their happiness begins by providing them with a nutritious diet and enough exercise.

The pelican's name was Osmay, who has sadly since died and the dog quit showing up at the beach: " Since the death of Osman the pelican, the dog has stopped appearing on the beach. An Erdek fisherman said, “Osman the pelican died, and after that the friendly, cute dog was no longer seen on the beach. Normally, the dog and pelican were never separated from each other. Tourists visiting Erdek often took photographs of the two of them. Their friendship was a news story on many television channels. After the death of Osman, the dog disappeared from the beach.” you can see a few more pictures on Snopes: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/pelican-befriend-stray-dog/

It’s also vital that you let your dog behave like a dog and take into account its breed. A Husky, for instance, will need you to be far more fit and active than if you have a palm-sized doggo that needs a miniature vest to protect it from the cold each time you take it outside for it to mark its territory.

Having a pal for life is a lot of fun. However, it also requires a responsible outlook. There are 5 welfare needs that owners must take care of, according to the PDSA. Owners must protect their pets from pain, illness, and injury. They must also allow the animals to behave naturally for their species, house them appropriately with (or apart from) other animals, give them a suitable home to live in, and provide a suitable diet for their life stage. Both obesity and malnourishment are to be avoided at all costs.

It’s obesity, in particular, that is a major problem for canines far and wide. Some owners don’t provide their canine buddies with a diet that’s suitable for their age and needs. Meanwhile, others love their pets so much that they overfeed them with snacks and human food. Chonky dogs might look ‘cute,’ but the effects that obesity has on their health and quality of life are horrifying. Disastrous diseases aren’t adorable; health and happiness are.

During an earlier in-depth interview, Bored Panda spoke about canine health with Dr. Ernie Ward, the founder of the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention. He stressed that obesity is the biggest health threat to dogs.

“Dogs suffering from obesity have a much greater risk of developing arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer. Studies also show that dogs with obesity live about 2.5 years less than those at a healthy weight,” Dr. Ward warned.

Years ago, my German Shepherd started shaking and crying. Thought it was a stroke. Raised him to the emergency vet in the middle of the night. Vet listened to his heart and stomach, squeezed, and my dog let out the loudest fart ever. Vet looks at me and says "That will be $200." So when something seems terrible, that turned out to be nothing, I say, "Well, that was a $200 fart."

Similar story for me. Ironically enough my then dog is almost a spitting image of the OP's dog and every time I scratched his neck he would pull only the left side of his mouth back, like a slick smile to the ladies. Naturally I though something was either wrong with his neck and it hurt or his mouth hurt when I did this to him. $550.00 later I find out that Kaylib (Caleb) is extremely ticklish. But I worked at a Vet and am very aware that pets cannot communicate to us if they are sick or in pain. 100% would have taken him or any pet I own if I think anything is wrong with their health, even if it is just to find out they are ticklish.

Side note, same dog jumped up on the recliner and his side twitched and had slight trouble getting onto said recliner that he was on daily. My guy said to get him to work and have him checked, I knew my dog, he went everywhere with me. That twitch lead to finding a mass on his spleen that was removed only to find out he had Hemangiosarcoma, a blood cancer, and a death sentence. He was given 1-2 months. My then partner and I put him in a raw food and greens diet with all natural supplements and he packed on muscle up to 100lbs and he got over 7 months and the only day he showed his illness was he last day on earth. I swore I wouldn't let my best friend suffer and I didn't.

My friend had a rescue puppy that came with a broken leg. For the rest of that dog's life, whenever she was caught misbehaving, she hiked that leg up in the air to make sure you understood that she's not naughty, she's hurt!

Eli, my chihuahua, is in congestive heart failure right now. We caught it at the beginning stages so we're managing it with medication and Doc says he should be around for a few more years as long as I keep an eye on it. Eli fake coughs - has since he was a puppy - now I have to determine fake cough from real cough which indicates he needs extra meds. Fun times.

My first dog did the same thing and that would have been OK if I hadn't fallen for it twice. My vet had a real good laugh the second time around. (I think he gave me the "friends and dopes discount").

My old dog would limp. Walking next to or in front of me - limping. Walking behind me - walking normally. He was the love of my life, had all of my attention any day, still did it.

Our dogs very effectively train us. I once showed my daughter's dog a 'trick' and trained her using treats - sucess and lots of fun. Now when she wants a treat she does the trick in front of me - needless to say I am well trained enough to fetch the treat for her lol!

“More recent research proves that overweight or dogs with obesity have a lower quality of life, as reported by their pet parents. To put it bluntly, the fact is that dogs with obesity aren't able to live and enjoy their best lives, and we must do better,” the pet health expert pointed out that it’s vital to fight back against obesity.

If I can't find my dog it's because she's hiding behind my ankles, usually because a bigger dog or a child has come into view (she got mobbed by adoring children frequently as a puppy). She is always happy to go on her lead at that point so, certainly for some dogs, I think you are right.

“When people ask me if it's better for a dog or cat to have obesity, I tell them ‘neither.’ Obesity is a disease and, as a veterinarian, I swore an oath to prevent animal disease and suffering. My goal is to prevent pet obesity and I've spent the last twenty years researching and teaching nutrition and weight loss methods to committed veterinary professionals and concerned pet parents,” Dr. Ward said that his biggest mission in life is to give pets a better quality of life, help them live longer, and be more fulfilled.

He must have known how hard he would fall in love with his new bestie and also know the work and tears in the end it would take to love him/her for the rest of his life. I've met quite a few who didn't want pets and then finally when for whatever reason they turned up in their life... they change completely and fully fell in love and became the best companions for their fur babies.

“For dogs and humans, the weight-loss equation is about 60% to 70% diet and 30% to 40% physical activity. For cats, a species with different physiology and metabolism, it's about 90% diet and only 10% exercise,” the expert noted the differences in biology that owners of different pets should account for.

“The first step toward a healthier weight for your dog is to schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. They will first determine your dog's Body Condition Score (BCS), establish target weight loss goals and ideal weight, and calculate the number of calories you should feed each day,” Dr. Ward told Bored Panda that some dogs might need to reduce their caloric intake while others may need special therapeutic diets.

“Your veterinarian will also make sure there isn't an underlying medical condition or disease causing the weight gain and that it's safe to begin an exercise program. In general terms, a dog (and their pet parent) needs about 30 minutes of aerobic activity each day,” he said that walking is a great way to get this exercise in because it’s quick, easy, efficient, and accessible to almost everyone.

“I prefer it to most other exercises because that's what dogs were designed to do best and most naturally. Plus, it's free! When walking, be sure to use a walking harness and not a neck or choke collar to prevent injury to the trachea or windpipe region of the throat and neck,” the doctor said.

No all dogs are bred on purpose. Sometimes dogs do as dogs do. You're probably getting down voted for this reason. They aren't saying they're trying to make a new breed, just that two dogs of different breeds had puppies...

According to the pet health professional, dogs can safely lose 3 to 5% of their body mass each month. “Younger and more active dogs may lose a little more, depending on the amount of exercise the pet parent can provide. The most important thing to do is to monitor the weight each month. If your dog isn't losing the appropriate amount of weight in three months, you need to change the strategy,” he said.

I used to have a dog walking/ daycare business, and took care of a tiny beagle pup, and a tiny chihuahua pup. My dog at the time - also a puppy - weighed about 50 lbs at the time - and both of the tinies slept on him when they took naps. It killed my heart with love and happiness!

“Weight loss is a dynamic and adaptive process, and dog parents must constantly evaluate what's working or not. The great news is that, unlike cats, most dogs can reach their target weight within six to nine months. Cats can only lose about a half-pound per month, meaning losing four pounds will take about eight months if all goes well.”

He might not be the best swimmer, but I think the bulldog would love to come over and enjoy fun and possibly snacks. I had a rescue bulldog that would sit in his kiddie pool and soak for hours... let's get this one some floaties.

The notion that the thrower needs to HAVE the ball to throw the ball is in conflict with the proposition that you have to GIVE the ball to the person you want to throw it...Oreo and I have been wrangling with this logic problem for about six months now. (I'm not sure she'll EVAH "get iy"!)

And now the shelters are flooded with dogs who were adopted during Covid but are no longer "needed." An animal is a commitment, not a crutch for your weak personal make up. People suck so much!

One of my white shepherds was elderly but wouldn't quit. She spent all day in the water then was sore and stiff. Even though the camper we rented was "no pets", I let her sleep inside in the warmth on a mountain of towels and blanket..

My inlaws had an 80 lb German shepherd. As she got older, it was harder for her to get up on the exam table, so her vet willingly examined her on the floor. My inlaws knew it was time to let her go when she'd try to get up from the floor, and drop a load on the floor from the effort. RIP Valkyrie.
