Russian Fisherman Posts Terrifying Creatures Of The Deep Sea, And People Want Him To Stop (New Pics)
Roman Fedortsov (previously here) spends most of his time on fishing trawlers. Some of his catches, however, end up going viral on the internet instead of being quietly digested in someone's tummy.
"I'm 39 and have been working onboard trawlers for seventeen years," Roman told Bored Panda. "I live in Murmansk, Russia. It is a big port, and that's why I enrolled in the Marine University after school. My specialization has a lot to do with fishing technology. I know how to prepare fish for freezing and further delivery to the customer."
Roman brought most of these photos from the Norwegian and Barents seas while some of them came ashore from the Atlantic Ocean.
Once on a fishing trip, Roman and his mates live in six-hour cycles. They work for six hours, then rest for another six. And repeat. "We are to catch commercial fish such as Cod, Haddock, Halibut, Redfish, Herring, Mackerel, and so on," he added. "The most extreme fish I have ever caught are Frilled Shark, Rabbitfish, Big Sunfish, Angler, Stoplight Loosejaw..."
"During my watch, I work at the fish factory. I'm responsible for processing the fish, so I have to control other seamen while they're working, too."
Roman really likes finding unusual types of animals aboard the trawl. "I decided to create social media accounts because many people have no idea how some of the fish look. I'm constantly impressed by the appearance of some deep water fish and want to share my experiences with other people."
"I have never been scared of the fish I catch," he said. "I'm always interested and impressed."
Scroll down to check out the terrifying creatures Roman has grown so fond of!

They only look like that when you bring them up to the surface. In their natural habitat the pressure holds their bodies together.

This is just a puffer fish that has been dried out in the sun and therefore his skin has been pulled back revealing his teeth more. They are really harmless. They eat coral so they have those crazy teeth.

I have spent this whole article screaming. This (what really is this?) Is know exception.
Poor animals, this is cruelty. Let them live.
I agree, Kelly! This post is terribly depressing. Beautiful animals...and now they're dead. Humans are so destructive.
That we are. I wonder how he gets all these things?
Look I get all these posts about the poor animals and the cruelty however remember there are two sides to every story. Firstly educational purposes I feel much more informed and some inspiration to look after the ocean more to protect these beautiful animals. Secondly, do you eat meat? fish? use anything from rainforests, any products like palm oil? dairy? it is impossible not to. And even vegans have to get their protein from somewhere which is usually places farmed on deforested soil and done by poorly paid workers. Thirdly these animals could simply have been too curious and Finally if they had been doing this in large numbers that would have been wrong but they were only finding small amounts from 1 to maybe 4 of each animal. and imagine the research on the animals we could find cures to cancer etc.
Hello - Your 2nd argument is preposterous: Since it is impossible to NOT harm the planet, that anyone trying to do so is hypocritical? That is so selfish. Your 1st point argues that anybody, like an Instagrammer, can dig things up and be an "educator." I prefer to leave animal killing to scientists and have regular humans NOT touch wildlife for the sake of photographs or education. Your 3rd argument is unlikely, that the animals were too curious and sought out humans, but I'll play. If so, why does the man have to kill them for it? And your final argument is akin to the 1st and 3rd one. Humans should leave wildlife alone. If everyone took something from nature with the argument that "it's just a small amount," then nature would be depleted. That's why parklands ask us to stay on the path, leave shells on the beach, and not touch wildlife. Every single one of your arguments is irresponsible and selfish.
Hey Kelly couldn't reply to your comment but firstly there are other diseases and cancer was just an example also you never know there could be a part of the animal that will stop the cells from multiplying so that the cancer will stop. but that is not the point the point is that I think it is judgmental and slightly wrong to instantly call this post cruel. Also I am interested no judgments but are you vegetarian or vegan?
Cure to cancer? I have cancer, and therapies differ from animals to humans.
I'm neither vegetarian nor vegan, I'm flexitarian. I avoid meat just after oncologists (and back in times Leonardo Da Vinci) suggested to reduce it.
I don´t think he fished them on purpose, probably they ended up in his fishing net & have already been dead...
They are not scary. They are just sad living creatures dying out of their natural environment. Just let them go!
by the time they get them out of the rest of the catch they are probably dead anyway
Deep underwater fish brought up, die from pressure changes.

What a depressing post about poor creatures, already fighting a losing battle for survival being dragged out of the sea to be gawped at.
Exactly. A lot of ppl fail hard at understanding that.
I agree, does Op need upvotes?
