My Daughter Breaks All The Girl Stereotypes And I Try To Capture That In My Photographs (26 Pics)
I grew up as a single child in a little home set in a small urban community. I was raised by a single father who worked during the day and was an artist in the evenings. Now, I am a stay at home father, and an artist, helping to raise my daughter, Haley.
This photo essay titled “Long Summer Days” follows my daughter's journey through childhood as she struggles with the boredom of living as a single child in the same small home where I grew up. We largely choose a device-free lifestyle for her, which leads her to explore the world and envelop herself in her imagination and creativity. These images include subtle undertones and rich metaphors that disrupts the stereotypes of girls while highlighting my daughter's delightfully unconsciousness strength, independence, defiance, and playfulness.
She is at an age where she is developing her strong personality and it is a culmination of all these elements which I am capturing and documenting.

12th Street Razor
Ok the only way she's not like other girls and anyone else (in this picture) is if she did literally anything holding the handle and it doesn't swing back and kill her ankles. Freaking razor scooters. (I don't mean to offend, it's mostly a joke)
Love this, I have a picture of me - looking almost identical to her - when I was a little girl. It's one of my kids' favorite pics of their Momma.
I can't see any stereotypes broken, but lovely pictures. It reminds me of my own childhood. (I am probably just not aware of those stereotypes that the photographer refers to.)
Playing Cricket
Catching Nugget
Changing Breaks
This was the third time or so she helped me change the breaks in our vehicles. I break the bolts for her and compress the calipers, she does the rest, including putting the pads in.

I tried to drink water while standing on my head when I was like 10. Took water in my mouth, then stood on my head, and swallowed "up".Just because my mum said she tried it once when she was a kid. It ran out of her nose. I managed to "shoot" it up to my stomach. :)

I have seen this one in several places, but here on boredpanda, I am really liking it. Seems to have better definition than some other sites....
but... you see the barbies on the ground, and also all girls like playing in water...
I’m not trying to be rude or anything, but don’t a lot of kids do this?😁
We live in texas and everyone does this lol. I don't think every single photo is supposed to be a statement in itself, but seen as a whole project.

This looks like the cover of a scary movie. Just add a clown or something
Haley On Memorial Day At 5 Years Old
Haley At 4 In A Chair
Yep. Breaking that good old “chair” girl stereotype. Great to see a girl finally sitting in a chair instead of floating for once.
First Tooth
Apparently girls aren't supposed to loose teeth? Guess I broke that stereotype long before her.

I did that too lol. The only difference is that my parents yelled at me and called me gross for it, which I can now understand cus birds can carry nasty diseases.
Saaaame. My parents always told me "never touch the feathers child" and now it makes sense- nasty birds!! :P

You're reading too much into it. Look at the photo as a photo of a little girl and thats it. Not add anything to it.

None of these are breaking stereotypes except MAYBE the bug and the car
Don't really see what stereotypes these break, maybe outdoorsy stuff, but still cool!
