Meet Sphynx Cats – The Most Adorable Hairless Felines

This is clearly my favorite. He looks so wise you almost expect him to talk.

Heterochromia, different colored eyes, is an unusual and strikingly lovely genetic mutation. Just what I would expect to see in the descendants of two hairless cats found wandering in Ontario, in the 70's. That would be before there was an EPA, and just around the time, and I think in the area possible for a cat to wander, of Love Canal, where they discovered houses had been built over a chemical dump full of leaking barrels of hazardous .chemicals. These had leached into the ground water, and were seeping up into the foundations of those houses, poisoning those living there. And then there was the 3 Mile Island nuclear disaster, where they had a melt down of their nuclear reactor. The core is 1/2 way to China by now. Exposure to either, or both, of these events could definitely alter the DNA, causing genetic mutations in the offspring of those exposed. And here we are. We have hairless cats with the heterochromia.mutation. Why am I not surprised?

I was thinking it must be warm there to bring your Sphynx outside without a sweater then I saw the display temp said 84. That's the perfect temp for these guys. Such an adorable sweetie.

Cat's tongues are so rough, I wonder if, with their lack of fur, their skin feels it like we do. While not 100% hairless, I'm sure their fine fuzz does not block out all the roughness.

Considering some of the positions they sleep in, this one isn't too crazy. But I love those beans!

Actually Sphynx are the exception to this. Because of their lack of fur, sphynx cats have incredibly oily and sweaty skin and require weekly bathing. Luckily, they're not too adverse to water and most enjoy a nice bath.
