OMG! You are amazingly talented. I bet that helped her heart so much after losing her little one. It really is the little thoughtful things people do after a loss that helps us get through the dark valleys. Being able to look at that puts a smile on her face instead of just crying every time she thinks of her little loving baby. Do you have them for sale anywhere?

Wow this is some serious art work I know from experience how hard it was for her to get that fur texture done.
A member of the r/crochet team shed some light on the fact that all of the moderators there are volunteers who are doing what they do for the love of the craft.
"We're fortunate to have multiple sweet moderators who can spend anywhere from 7-14 hours/week moderating r/crochet," they shared with Bored Panda.
"Our greatest challenges are keeping up with community-voted rules and encouraging people to follow them so everyone can enjoy time spent in the sub."

Well, it’s a parasol so it’s meant to be shade from sun, not protection from rain. It will certainly block most of the sun but it’ll cause a very odd tan like in you fall asleep under it

So much detail and care into designing every stitch. This deserves to be at the top.
The online group was first created in September 2008. Over the past 15 (yes, that’s right, 15!) years, the r/crochet subreddit has grown by leaps and bounds to the behemoth of crafty creativity that it is today.
At the time of writing, the sub had already swelled to 738k members. And there’s no sign that the supportive community is going to stop growing any time soon. There’s just too much yarny wholesomeness concentrated in that group for that to happen.
There is, however, a mystery surrounding the roots of the community. Its birth, to put it dramatically, is shrouded in shadow.

“No one currently on the moderation team knows how the sub began in 2008,” one of the members of the friendly moderator team shared with Bored Panda during an interview a couple of years ago.
However, it’s quite likely that someone who was a big fan of crochet created the group to share their designs and invite others to do the same. For one reason or another, the founder may have stopped being active on Reddit and the control of the community passed to other internet users who picked up the moderator mantle.
Whatever the case might be, these days, the subreddit is thriving beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.

Glass aquarium / vase 'marbles' / 'beads'. Washable, no scent, and no risk of getting sand everywhere. Another alternative if you want to go really heavy: Tungsten fishing weights. Heavier than lead, and way safer.

I’ve actually used 4 different things so far. This frog had a soft 1 kg weight ball. I used a plastic container to save on postage costs for the one I sent to my friend in Japan. She filled the container with sand and sewed the frog closed. The others were filled with wooden lawn bowls balls or bocce balls from my local recycle center.

I Made A Butter-Fly
The moderator was kind enough to explain the crossover between crochet, knitting, and sewing. The first two are actually quite similar. "They’re both yarn crafts that create fabric. Other similarities include knowing how to count stitches and read written patterns. There is no real crossover with sewing, except perhaps that advanced sewers may have an advantage in understanding how garments drape and fit," they shared with us.

Though learning a new skill can be tons of fun, depending on how (un)successful you are at the start, you may start feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, and demotivated. What helps is embracing a growth mindset not being afraid of mistakes early.
You have to understand that being kind of bad at something is the path to getting sort of good at the skill later on. If you’ve got a supportive community to boost your mood and help you out, it can get you through some rough patches! This is stunning. It reminds me of a scarf my mom made for me. It's black and white. The two colors fade into eachother it was a total accident for her but it's my favorite. I wear it every winter without fail.

These are all such beautiful works by some exceptionally talented people! Seeing these made me just realise that a beanie and a scarf this guy I had a relationship/situationship with gifted me last year is actually a crochet gift. It was gifted to him by his grandma but he wanted me to have it (as it looks a little feminine). Since a recent incident we’re on somewhat bad terms now so I’m wondering what to do with these items. They’re beautiful, especially the colours, and I know I won’t throw them away but I would also feel uncomfortable wearing them now with the history between us. I probably should return them but I also know that even if he had them with him he wouldn’t take good care of them (after all he did just give them to me despite it being a personal gift from his grandma to him!). If my grandma ever made something like that I’ll never give it away to anyone. Can I have your opinions on this?

Aaah I need to go and try and find my crochet hook and a tutorial. I got given a very basic hook when I was like 8, and I bought a ball of yarn a week ago, and I want to try and make a blanket or scarf or whatever... whatever I can manage I guess.

My mum is a crochet queen. She mainly makes dolls and animals, but will try her hand at anything. Her latest project was a Paddington Bear with his suitcase, and removable jacket and hat complete with marmalade sandwich inside. It look her less than a week. Even through her recent cancer treatment she didn't stop, but would undervalue her work when she would sell it online. My sister makes handbags and sells them at markets, and recently started selling mums things for her at double the price she originally asked, and they sold out in an hour..so now she understands her time is worth more. I've asked her to teach me so I can carry on the tradition, as it's something her own mum used to do.

r/crochet used to be a good resource for beginners or anyone looking for help, but they have changed the platform and instilled so many inane rules that they just remove your post instead of being at all helpful. So disappointing.

No one has ANY talent before they started learning. Get busy! You can draw well, crochet and/or knit well, dance well, cook well … once you learn. THEN you’ll have talent. No one comes out of the womb good at anything beyond making Mom’s nipples sore.
