Your social media feed is, to a large extent, a reflection of your personality. You see posts made by artists who inspire you, athletes whom you admire, and publishers that provide information on the topics you care about.

So whenever something pops up there that doesn't align with your values and interests, it sticks out like a silly misplaced emoji in a serious conversation. However, sometimes people run into things that they find are so far-removed from their casual online experience that they feel as if they just discovered a UFO artifact.

Turns out, one platform is particularly rich with these "surprises," and I think you can already sense which one. (Hint: it belongs to Meta.) And there's a whole subreddit to prove it! So to show you just how wild and unpredictable it can be, we invite you to take a look at what the 2.3 million members of r/TerribleFacebookMemes have been reposting. Oh, darn it, I gave it away. Anyway, here you go!

I don't have the money to pay the dozens of active helpers (not shown on photo) a decent wage to make this possible. I also won't gain the necessary momentum on crowdfunding to pay for this.

In a post titled, 'Return to our Roots,' the moderators of r/TerribleFacebookMemes said that "originally this subreddit was about Boomer memes," but it went through quite an intense period.

"It was about memes so painfully unfunny and out of touch that you would choke on a minion if you had to endure one more cry-laughing emoji on a sad post."

However, since the mods allowed members a lot of freedom, over time the community began to transform "into some kind of unholy abomination where ... most of the posts ... are just outright racism or transphobia."

So the moderators had to intervene. "Somewhere in February, a smarter-than-average subscriber in modmail alerted us to the fact that Reddit has a terms of service and today we alert you to that too," they explained in the post.

"Subreddits can get banned and users can get sitewide suspensions for the [things] we feature here. Even if it is meant to laugh at. Even if we explicitly say that agreeing with the bad memes is forbidden."

A Relative Just Shared This After Sharing Pro Trump Memes For 4 Years

A Relative Just Shared This After Sharing Pro Trump Memes For 4 Years

Jesukii Report

"For some bizarre, unfathomable reason, we do actually like this place," the mods continued. "We want to keep it. We want to see it prosper. So we need to go back to our roots."

They announced that they're working hard to eradicate any racism, transphobia, homophobia, and other issues you could've noticed there. Now, "all posts have to follow the site-wide rules."

This post was made in March, and it seems that they're trying their best to live up to it, even if some relics from the past remain.

Of course, just like other generations, boomers are much more diverse than these memes suggest. Some of the life experiences, and thus worldviews, of a senior in Toronto likely bear little resemblance to one from Tokyo.

After all, this generation has gone from using landlines to flip phones to smartphones and from typewriters to desktops to laptops.

I want to be honest, I don't care what a woman is. I don't care what a man is either. I don't even care what I am. And you know what? It doesn't matter who identifies as what, nobody is hurt by just being friendly to each other

I'm tired of people saying there are only males and females and that's "biology." I major in human bio, and that's actually NOT what "biology" shows us. Biology shows us that there are multiple facets we've historically used to distinguish male from female: appearance of external genitalia, secondary sex characteristics like breasts or beard hair, levels of hormones like estrogen and testosterone, sensitivity vs. insensitivity to those hormones, chromosomes, gonads... so what happens if they don't all match up within the same individual? It's more common than people realize. You can have XY chromosomes and still be identified female at birth based on having a vulva. You can have a vulva externally, with internal testes discovered incidentally years later. You can have androgen insensitivity, gynecomastia, agenesis of the uterus or fallopian tubes or ovaries. Do periods make a person female? Okay, then before or after menopause, or if you need a hysterectomy, I guess you're male now. Are you only half a man if you're a testicular cancer survivor? If you've survived breast cancer and have no breasts anymore, are you less of a woman? And what if you have "ambiguous genitalia" that developed at some point of the spectrum that is neither appearing male or female? Real modern human biology teaches us that aside from gender expression being a spectrum, biological sex is a diverse colorful spectrum too! People cannot be scientifically sorted into only two categories, and we are still learningso much about how it all works!

I read your whole comment in full and was very impressed with what you said and how well you said it, it actually made me interested in what you wrote so I looked into your points and they were said well and quite factual. What you left out was the actual percentages and it's not as normal as you say imo, here are a couple intersex birth stats for USA in 2022... Not XX and not XY one in 1,666 births Klinefelter (XXY) one in 1,000 births Androgen insensitivity syndrome one in 13,000 births Partial androgen insensitivity syndrome one in 130,000 births Classical congenital adrenal hyperplasia one in 13,000 births We had 3.6 million births in 2022 and you can say see xxy is I in 1000 births, that's 336,000 people...except you find out their body produces more estrogen or testosterone as they mature and by ages 3-5 show dominate male/female features in over 98.9% The ones left "androgynous" would be 3,200 people and it says most of them will develop full male/female identifying anatomy

We won some battles and lost the war. STILL, now, there are so many confused people. Disliking dresses, makeup, liking "male" jobs, entertainments does not mean you are not feminine. The whole feminine masculine thing is still stuck in stereotype mode, but now it means you should change gender or sexual preference. Apparently. Can't be happy as a woman and want to repair cars, cut your hair off etc.

At least it feels like its going in the right direction, that you should not be allowed to compete with females if you went through puberty as a man. More and more high level female athletes speak up about it. How it sucks to train so hard you whole life for a man to come in and break records a woman might never be able to match.

Plus, they aren't hostile towards younger generations 'just because' and aren't criticizing them as much as it sometimes might seem in the media.

Yes, 48 percent of boomers think that a person's chances of success depend more on their merit than factors that are outside of their control, but so do 44 percent of Gen X, 41 percent of millennials, and 40 percent of Gen Z. So there's no big generational divide on this question.

So maybe we should cut them some slack too? After all, every basket of apples can have a variety of aromas, flavors, and textures.

I would much prefer my warriors to be both. I want my warriors to have very well developed critical thinking skills. I want them to understand and create good strategies. I want them to have empathy. I do NOT want them to be mere animals acting on brute strength only I want them to recognize bad orders that shouldn’t be followed when they’re given, instead of acting like robots given their programming and not questioning it. It’s like the people who claim to be doers, not thinkers. That’s not the flex they think it is. Because things work out much better if you do the thinking BEFORE the doing.
