Close-up of a woman with red nail polish covering her mouth, showing fear from creepy found footage and videos. Officer Kent McGowan kicked in the door on a felony warrant and shot 41 year old Susan White claiming she'd pulled a gun on him. At first, everything seems kosher, but later on that night, the officers investigating the shooting found that she was on the phone with 911 at the time and isn't the aggressor, she's scared out of her mind.

It appears that McGowan had been stalking her and had basically fabricated the circumstances that led to her having a warrant out against her. He then broke into her house, ran up to her bedroom and shot her. She's frantic, telling the operator that he's trying to break into her house. One of the last things she says is "HELLLLLLP!!!!" It's chilling.

“It’s Chilling”: 47 Disturbing Found Footage Stories That Still Haunt The Internet I'm going to go with the man they found alive in a sunken tugboat 3 days after it capsized.

    >As a rescue diver probed the wreckage of an overturned tugboat, it was assumed that all he'd be doing would be recovering the bodies of those who perished.
However, as he was swimming through the murky water inside the capsized boat, a hand suddenly reached toward him.
It was the ship's cook, Harrison Okene, who had somehow survived for approximately 60 hours in only his underwear in the freezing cold water by breathing from a small air pocket and taking sips of Coca-Cola.
Okene was the only one of 12 crew members who survived when the Jacon-4 tugboat capsized.

Creepy found footage showing a person in a hoodie standing in a dimly lit room captured by a security camera. Recently there was a guy in Chicago who was breaking into houses. He was caught on security cameras slowly creeping down some stairs and just watching the homeowners sleeping on the couch. Not as violent as some of these other posts, but super creepy.

Despite popular opinion, chimps can be real a******s. They are vicious, very strong and their teeth can break your arm. They are also wild animals which are sometimes kept in totally unsuitable conditions by people who think they are toys instead of living creatures with specific needs. But hey, what can go wrong?

From what I remember, the chimp, Travis, was basically raised by this family. He had his own room and knew how to use the remote to the TV. He had his favorite toys and knew how to unlock the doors and open them to go outside. There were changes (IIRC, the husband died, and the daughter moved away), and he was put on ADHD meds as a result - which did NOT act the same in a chimp as they would in a human. He had been sneaking out and essentially terrorizing the neighborhood for several weeks before this event. Police had been called by neighbors. His owner was trying to find a sanctuary for him, but none would take him. The most chilling thing to me is that she let him sleep in her bed at night. IIRC, he weighed about 200 lbs when this happened. People don’t realize how big male chimps can get, or how aggressive they can be.

I won't Google the story for all the he tea in China, but I think I can guess the chimp was kept in totally unsuitable conditions, in a closed space as if he were a person, no exercise, no room to climb and behave in a natural way, and treated as a toy instead of a wild animal. People don't understand wild animals may tolerate us, or seem to adapt, but they will always be wild. If they feel threatened, in danger, anxious, in pain, etc, they will become unpredictable. The chimp could also have been jealous of her. God only knows! In a zoo, there are two animals people think are cute and huggable, but they are quite the opposite: chimps and zebras. They are neither cute nor huggable.

Firstly, no one deserves what either of these women went through. No one. But why on earth are people in the US keeping animals like this as pets? They are complex, intelligent animals with a huge number of needs, and also VERY dangerous. In the wild they will hunt, k**l, and eat human babies. They have similarities to us that makes us able to relate to them, but they are NOT humans. Chimps suffer and humans are at risk.

My city is backed against a national forest. The other day, the elementary school where my son goes went into lockdown because a mama bear and two cubs had wandered into the area. The Forest Service had to come in and sedate all 3 so they could be taken back into the forest. A few years ago, a couple of mountain lions wandered into one of the neighborhoods outside of town and they had to do the same thing. It doesn't happen often (in the 25 years my family has lived here, those are the only 2 occurrences), but it does happen.

Abandoned, decaying wreckage in a dark forest, evoking the creepiest found footage and chilling video stories. In 1984, a Cessna L-19 Bird Dog crashed in the Tabernash, Co. The wreckage wasn't found until 3 years later by a couple backpackers. The local law enforcement found this heavily damaged VHS tape and were able to figure out what happened. From Wikipedia:

    > On August 10, 1984, a Cessna L-19 Bird Dog (registration number N4584A), piloted by James Jeb Caddell, 38, crashed in a forest near Tabernash. The aircraft was en route from Granby, Colorado to Jeffco, Colorado. The wreck was found by a pair of backpackers three years later on August 23, 1987. A 6½ minute video shot from a VHS camcorder mounted on the instrument panel was found at the site. The heavily damaged tape, some of it hanging from tree branches, was recovered and repaired by Colorado deputy sheriff Dale Wood. Subsequent analysis of the footage revealed that the pilot had not taken into account the density altitude conditions that existed on the day of the flight. The aircraft was unable to climb away from steadily rising terrain due to the fact that it was essentially at or above its service ceiling, and in an attempt to remedy the situation, the pilot stalled the airplane three times during a steep bank to the right. The pilot could be heard yelling, "D**n, hang on Ronnie!" to his one backseat passenger, Ronald Hugh Wilmond, 36, three seconds before impacting the terrain.

It's the "D**n, hang on Ronnie!" that gets me.

For those who might not understand: Colorado is at high altitude. Parts of Colorado are at very high altitude (14,400 ft at the highest peak). If the air density is low on a given day (e.g., due to low pressure atmospheric conditions - quite normal), then the "apparent altitude" from the point of view of flying is higher. However, a standard Cessna Bird Dog has an "absolute ceiling" of 24,800 ft (7,600 m) [service ceiling: 18,500 ft (5,600 m)] - so I suspect the problem was that the aircraft wasn't above what it could possibly fly at, but at an effective altitude so high which meant it was handing in unexpected ways. I'm not an aviation person, but I've heard that when you're at maximum flight altitude, typically the margin between "flying speed" and "stalling speed" is vanishingly small - an unexpectedly high stall speed seems to be the problem in this case. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_O-1_Bird_Dog#Specifications_(O-1E)

To expand on Forrest's post - Standard flight performance is based on standard temperature and pressure, which is 59° and 29.92 inches of mercury (standard sea level air pressure). Lower air pressure reduces density and therefore lift, and air pressure decreases with altitude. At any given altitude temperature and humidity are also major factors in the air pressure. That means that for a plane, which flies in air of course, 14,400' may be the altitude above sea level but not the effective atmospheric altitude, or density altitude. It's counterintuitive to most people, but wet, humid air is lighter than dry air, so humidity also reduces air pressure. At 80°, a sea level pressure of 29.02 (3% lower than standard), and relative humidity of 70% the air pressure would be almost 10% lower than standard, which increases density altitude by about 3,000'. The plane may have been perfectly capable of flying, but the rate of climb could be severely compromised.

Bob Brooce: thanks for your information - it's always good to learn more. For those who think in Si units: FAA standard temperature and pressure is 15°C and 101.3 kPa. 80°F is 26 2/3 °C and 29.02 inHg is about 98 kPa. It turns out, the current US FAA definition of STP is given in SI units: 15°C and 101.3 kPa - which as Bob Brooce states is exactly 59°F and 29.92 inHg (not exactly, but fine for the intended practical purposes). I've just checked and apparently standard temperature and pressure are -currently and for scientific purposes - defined as 273.15K and 100 kPa (10^5 Pa). That's 0°C/32°F and 29.53 inches of mercury. I'll put the link to the Wikipedia article I got all that from in the next comment which will be auto-hidden.

I saw the Nick Crowley video on YouTube about this

    #15

There's a documentary on YouTube that details the m****r of a farm family in Texas. The survivor was Robin, the 10 year old daughter. She was watching from her bedroom door, she ran back into bed and they shot at her as she laid in bed and missed. The most disturbing part is probably how she'd hang her robe up on a hook on her door every night, and after she "got shot" she lay on the bed, pretending to be dead for hours, because she thought the robe was the man who did it watching her. And the most heartbreaking part is when all the police arrived, and she just cried about needing to feed her animals. One of the saddest stories I've ever heard.

While it is a significant historical event and very horrific, I'm not sure why you would wish other generations to experience such a traumatizing event. Shouldn't we wish for our children to never experience something like this and strive to make the world safer for them? I don't mean to sound overly idealistic, but as an educator I feel we can do better to educate younger generations without wishing them to live through horrific violence just so they "never forget".

The number of people that think they know about animals deeply, and connect with them, when they have no fücking clue is just bamboozling. I was told by a keeper at our local wildlife park, so I’m inclined to believe it’s true, that there was a woman who believed she connected with a gorilla on a soul level and visited the zoo regularly. She would sit on the other side of the glass, maintaining eye contact with him the entire time. He would maintain the eye contact too. Until the day he was so outraged by her continual aggression that he smashed through the glass and k****d her. If you don’t even understand that eye contact longer than a second or two is a threat to many animals than you have really have no basis for relating to them at all.

The video of him being interviewed by a reporter is very unsettling. When they let it known to him that a body was discovered (they did not say it was hers b/c they couldn't confirm, just that the police had found one) he immediately blanks out and you see his life just drain away. He has to take a seat, and innocently you'd think it's b/c he's a caring friend, but no, it's because he realized he was done for and his life was over.

The Estonia cruise/car ferry sunk in the Baltic Sea on 1994, taking an estimated 853 passengers with her into the deep, ice-cold water, in the middle of the night. Most people drowned in their cabins.

Just a handful of passengers managed to get out of the ship before she sunk, most of them freezing to death while waiting for the rescue :(

It might not be "found fotage", but here's the whole, actual mayday call and radio communications between her and the other ferries in the area. It's chilling that no one realized how bad the situation is, not the captain, and not the other boats, but you can hear the panic rising on the radio from the ship, as Estonia starts to tilt over and looses the electricity.

Even when the other boats arrive to the scene and Estonia is gone they just can't get their minds around the fact that this cozy, "safe" luxury hotel has been swallowed whole by the sea. Chilling, especially as someone from the Nordics who travel with these huge ferries fairy often...RIP :(

Then there's the guy who got arrested (I never found out what for), and wasn't searched when he was brought in. He was given a bottle of water and then the cop who was about to have a sit down with him walked out of the room. He took a sip from the bottle, pulled out a gun, and with one hand, flicked off the safety and put a bullet in the side of his head, without hesitation.

He's right in the middle of the frame the whole time, and you see blood flowing out the entrance wound, hear a groan from the moment he pulls the trigger that gets weaker over the following seconds, and his body goes from tense to limp. You literally see the life leave his body. It kinda makes you realize, that s**t isn't instant death.

“It’s Chilling”: 47 Disturbing Found Footage Stories That Still Haunt The Internet At the 5:36 mark of Vsauce their video "If", it shows and lets us hear what Americans would see and hear on radio/TV when a nuclear attack is happening. It honestly gives me a f**k-ton of chills just listening.

The Day After was a movie shown in the US and it realistically depicted what would happen if there was a nuclear strike/war. It traumatized a generation and actually led to Ronald Regan changing his beliefs and starting nuclear disarmament

There is a whole genre of EAS videos on Youtube, and many of the older, more realistic ones are phenomenal. Sadly, a lot of newer creators have made really mediocre ones, and now, many AI-Slop generated ones, and those are unwatchable. Still, some EAS simulations and audiovisual narratives are a very entertaining watch. There is a radio drama from 1983 called "The Last Broadcast" that may be quite interesting if you like this kind of fiction.

“It’s Chilling”: 47 Disturbing Found Footage Stories That Still Haunt The Internet The Valentich Disappearance. The original tapes have been destroyed, but there's a full transcript available, and several dramatic reenactments on youtube.

Valentich was flying a plane off the coast of Australia when he began to give a report about 'something' in the sky with him.

    > Valentich: Is there any known traffic below five thousand [feet]?

    > Robey: No known traffic.

    > V: I am—seems [to] be a large aircraft below five thousand.

    > R: What type of aircraft is it?

    > V: I cannot affirm. It is [sic] four bright, it seems to me like landing lights. . . . The aircraft has just passed over me at least a thousand feet above.

The transcript continues for a few pages of Valentich describing this thing passing around his aircraft. The final part of the transcript is as follows:

    > V: My intentions are, ah, to go to King Island. Ah, Melbourne, that strange aircraft is hovering on top of me again. [Silence for 2 seconds.] It is hovering, and it’s not an aircraft. [Silence for 17 seconds, open microphone, with audible, unidentified staccato noise. End of transcript.]

Although some theories suggest that the four bright 'landing lights' were just the planets Mars, Mercury, Venus, and Antares - which is a little goofy, as it might be quite difficult to confuse a planet for landing lights.

Wrecked pieces of Valentich's aircraft were later found washed up on several beaches around Australia.

“It’s Chilling”: 47 Disturbing Found Footage Stories That Still Haunt The Internet Theres a guy who dives i think its the red sea, with a gopro on and he decends further than his tank is fit for. Upon recovery they got the gopro, you basically just dive down with him and he dies.

If you descend fast enough to not run out of air a scuba cylinder is "fit" for a few thousand feet (you'll be dead much shallower). This post is probably about Yuri Lipski, who was attempting a deep dive and became severely disoriented as a result of nitrogen narcosis. Regular air becomes toxic due to the oxygen pressure at depths over 230' but the nitrogen can cause an effect similar to being drunk at far shallower depths.

Yes, those kids were incredibly stupid to break in, but he went completely overboard. He was not quite sane to begin with. They definitely picked the wrong house to rob!

And they had robbed him repeatedly, too, and the authorities would not help.

I have been broken into more than three times. I have had to fight off an intruder who came armed into my house, and I had to use violence - my fists mostly, being that most guns are not legal in my country. Thankfully he didn't get into my mother's room (The previous break-in, somebody did, and she lost all her jewellery from her entire life) but into mine instead. I am an extremely left wing man, but I believe that Byron Smith should have been given a fine, at most. One should be allowed to defend family and home, even more so if the authorities won't help you.

Defending your home and lying in wait to m****r someone is two completely different things. He could have subdued them and then called police, but he made sure neither would leave his home alive before they even arrived. It doesnt excuse their actions, but m****r as the best solution is not the answer either. He will sepnd the rest of his life in prison.

I did teaching practice in a school in the late 80s. The panic then was about “Killer Clowns from Outer Space” - it was a study in mass hysteria.

That seemed to be a phase of the internet. Even Minecraft had "Oh look, Pennywise" or some random pop culture figure people would recognize. I don't see them much now though.

There is a video of a dude driving through Mexico on a dirt road at night and this crazy woman in white appears in front of his headlights and starts screaming and running up to his car and chasing him as he drives in reverse. Not going to try to find it.

Sorry for the lack of details but there was a tv show about serial killers I watched and one of the murderers would abduct women off the street and record what he did to them in his basement. They didn't show that footage but they showed him on camera afterwards saying (Paraphrasing) '(Date and time) First victim, name... I don't know... (you can hear how that bothers him) *chuckles* and I don't give a F***.)' Eventually he got caught and hung himself in the back of a police van if that's any consolation.

That kind of PTSD is why cops shoot unarmed teens. Should be attached to actual numbers of incidents so cops are aware and careful, but not expecting EVERY interaction to lead to attacks. My 20 yr old sister was picking flowers on the side of the road and cops pulled up, so when she put the flowers in her car and saw the cop she stood back up the cop had his gun on her. Why? Because of this garbage.

Yupp, that - and more/longer training, like de-escalation tactics and whatnot, instead of something between a crash course and summer school, ending with the recommendation of "this is your badge, this is your gun, you know what to do. And remember: they're all out to get you! Good luck"

“It’s Chilling”: 47 Disturbing Found Footage Stories That Still Haunt The Internet Everybody knows about it but the Paris Catacombs footage.

EDIT: basically the story is a dude who illegally ran into the Paris catacombs (a massive underground burial place iirc, it has a lot of spooky skeletons) got lost and started recording. You can obviously see he's scared and eventually he drops his camera and starts running for an unknown reason.

The Catacombs are not à "massive burial place". Not to start with. Overflowing cemetaries were displaced and emptied into former stone- pits.

The creepiest thing I have ever seen is the dash cam footage where they are on the highway and some debris flies through the windshield and kills the person in the passenger seat, you see it go through the windshield, and a second later you hear the blood curdling scream of the driver who apparently just lost their loved one. It was the most heart wrenching, haunting noise I've ever experienced.
