This Twitter Account Is About All Things Creepy, And Here Are 40 Of Their Most Chilling Posts
InterviewThe moment we start being truly honest with ourselves is the moment we realize that many of us have a very deep fascination with the strange and the bizarre. Cuteness and wholesomeness are fine, but the darker aspects of the world are weirdly entrancing as well.
That’s where the aptly-named 'Creepy’ Twitter account, @CreepyOrg, comes in. The social media project does exactly what it says on the tin and shares unsettling content from all around the web. We’ve collected some of the best photos to share with you, and believe us, some of these are going to make your skin crawl and will send shivers tap-dancing down your spine. Say your prayers, put on your armor, and let’s scroll down into the abyss together.
Bored Panda wanted to learn more about the 'Creepy' project, so we got in touch with its founder, who was happy to tell us all about it. You'll find our full interview with them as you read on!

That’s a good way to put it and I concur, looks like this parrot hangs around that street lamp in Wroclaw

The ‘Creepy’ social media project has been wildly successful so far. Created just a few short months ago, in February 2023, the page has already racked up 143.3k followers.
The founder of the 'Creepy' Twitter account told us that they're a frequent reader of Bored Panda. "I have a great passion for creepy things in general, but what inspired me to create a community in this niche was when I bought the domain name http://creepy.org last year through an auction," they told us the story behind the page.
"My first thought was to create a site about morbid curiosities and oddities, but due to lack of time, I abandoned the project and focused on a Twitter account instead. That's how the 'Creepy' Twitter page was born, and now I use the http://creepy.org domain to redirect to it," they said.
Yeah, it took me a minute to realize what I was looking at

Load More Replies...We were curious to get the curator's thoughts on why the Twitter page became so popular, and how they choose what content to feature. They told Bored Panda that the number of followers they got in just a few months "is incredible."
"I think I was kind of lucky that my page became so popular because many big accounts started following me and retweeting my posts right from the beginning," they were very humble.
"About how I choose the images and videos I post, I must say that I'm an avid redditor and also a moderator of some large subreddits and from there I choose most of my posts."
These birds have always freaked me out. They look like they're going to kill you and steal your soul but look very sorry to have to do so

As far as the 'big cats' go, leopards are actually kind of small and low on the totem pole. They're very wary of taking larger prey, and much more likely to be interested in a goat than you. They still kill a fair number of people, but generally at night - leopards are highly nocturnal - and often while the person is asleep (not always.) If you encounter a leopard out in the woods during the day, it's the same general rules as black bears. If it doesn't see you or doesn't seem interested, you back away slowly and leave it alone. If it tries to approach, you make yourself look big and scary, and it hopefully decides you aren't worth the risk of injury. And never get between a mother and cubs.

So do I. We both look up and see this squirrel carcass hanging limply on a branch, and the predatory bird that dropped it :,) it was completely gutted out, all skin and fur. My sister was RIGHT UNDER IT, but was saved from getting hit in the head by it thanks to the only branch in the tree clearing. At first, we didn’t even know WHAT it was…
Finally, the creator of the 'Creepy' project on Twitter shared their thoughts on why so many people are fascinated by dark and weird things. "It happens because when we are terrified, the brain releases a hormone called dopamine, which some people find thrilling," they told Bored Panda.
"Also, creepy stuff is often intriguing: is the devil real, are ghosts real, does hell exist? Humans have a tendency to find solutions to everything, but these are questions humans don't have a definitive answer for yet."
I would love to crop out the person standing there and have the image hanging on my wall

It’s easy to see why it’s so popular—the curator of the page has a single-minded focus. They invite Twitter users to “explore the dark corners of the world through weird videos, historical oddities, and unexplained mysteries.” The account is a window into some of the most peculiar and uncomfortable aspects of life on Earth. And we’re here for it.
As we’ve analyzed on Bored Panda previously, our brains actually prefer hearing negative information to positive stories. So tales about anger, greed, promiscuity, and depravity are going to stimulate us more than those about kindness. It’s how we’re wired. (And it’s why good news stories don’t do as well as the opposite, in the media.)
I probably would forgot about the spikes and scratch my head nonetheless. 😅
They’d still be useful for women in London what with the met being a “bit rapey”.
That isn't creepy. He is so cute!! I love geckos. The African fat-tailed gecko is the best ever. They're very docile and will just chill with you.
The real creepy thing here is that this is one of the least damaged skulls from the battle of Visby. Visby closed the gates and locked their militia consisting of mainly untrained citizens outside to be slaughtered by the incoming infantry. That museum collection has some very gruesome skulls.
We are still angry. Every day and generation since that slaughter at year 1361
Load More Replies...Some people also enjoy hearing about the darker aspects of humankind because it can help contextualize and normalize their own negative traits. And since none of us are perfect, it makes sense that content that shines the spotlight on some of the less-than-savory aspects of humankind can make us feel better about our own mistakes and shortcomings.
What’s more, dark internet content and true crime shows can also let the audience experience fear in a completely safe environment. Meanwhile, some folks enjoy temporarily exploring the minds of those who have done horrific things. It’s a way to explore the worst parts of people who go beyond social norms, without having to descend into madness.
If you don't take it out and use it, it's going to rust

Ah ...my great-grandmother had this on her husband's tombstone. Cool to see it again. I STILL want to add Burma Shave underneath it.
I saw this same writing in Rome, at the Capuchin Crypt. Talk about humbling.

That is an ugly animal, although I daresay he would think the same of me.
Each of those bumps is likely a male anglerfish that has bitten the female and became one with the female. https://animalsfyi.com/life-of-a-male-anglerfish-endless-sex-or-dead-end/#:~:text=Those%20lumps%20are%20all%20that,comes%20from%20the%20female's%20blood.

Load More Replies...There’s an evolutionary reason why we enjoy creepy and scary content, too. Throughout the majority of humankind’s history, there was a constant threat to people’s lives. So human beings were naturally very aware of any potential dangers. However, in many parts of the world today, folks are rarely threatened. True crime shows, for instance, help people explore fear and evil while still staying in their comfort zones. After all, in small doses, scary photos and unsettling stories pose no real danger.
whatever you do, do not google the skull of a toddler.
Load More Replies...Okay, this beats those scary kids' skulls showing both sets of teeth.
I had this when I was younger. Before I could have a brace fitted I had to have 8 teeth removed. Not fun
That sounds so miserable! I'm sorry you had to go through that!
Load More Replies...My daughter has this problem. She has 6 extra incisors on each side of her front teeth. She got the two top ones removed, only to have the other two start shoving teeth out of the way causing a lot of pain. It’s definitely not pleasant.

Load More Replies...Mysteries and bizarre content also offer the audience a problem that needs to be solved, whether that’s figuring out the historical context for a peculiar photo or putting the clues together along with a show’s detectives in order to see justice done. It’s an emotional rollercoaster that temporarily makes people forget about all the anxiety and problems in their real lives.
I'm pretty sure this would have been done by the family to protect their loved one from grave robbers. There used to be a whole industry in stealing bodies and selling them to medical schools because there were not enough criminals being executed to meet demand.
Yes, it's this. People like Burke and Hare (the "resurrection men") would steal bodies and sell them to doctors and medical schools. At the time, only convicted criminals could be legally dissected and there weren't enough of those. Eventually though, Burke and Hare decided it was easier to cut out the middle man.
Load More Replies...He's done nothing. We have these (and watchtowers) in our older graveyards in Edinburgh. They were to prevent body snatching.
Well that means he lived a loved enough life that his family cared enough to pay extra to protect him. He clearly did something right.
Load More Replies...That's to stop graverobbers stealing the body to sell for dissection.
I've also read that there was a fear of people rising from the dead, so they thought they would be able to lock them away in their grave...especially those they thought to be vampires.
Most water is always moving. If you want to dry out a place with moving water, you stop the new water from draining in (build a dam) and allow the moving water left to simply drain out (not being replaced with new, flowing water.) If the water is not moving very much (like swamps) swamps still have borders. Dig drainage trenches at any place on the border of the swamp, LOWER than the level of the swamp water level and the border height. Gravity will cause the water in the swamp to drain out.
Load More Replies...Freezing. The bird froze on the branch, its claws clinging to the bark of the tree. The body decomposed, the legs mummified.
I think this is from it freezing to death and then breaking off. Might be wrong though
But then why would the claws and part of the leg still be there? Doesn’t make sense.
Load More Replies...However, like with any other content, people shouldn’t overindulge in true crime shows or other forms of unsettling media. Your stress levels and emotional balance are going to thank you for that. Consuming too much scary content, too frequently, can desensitize you. As a result, you may feel less empathetic toward others, more aggressive, or more afraid of your everyday surroundings.
When I flip my phone upside down, he becomes a curious, adorable seal again 😍
Paris decided that to expand it needed to get rid of graveyards to make room for building. The catacombs of Paris have 6,000,000 dead. Many people got bored and there are many sculptures made of bones and this guy I guess.
I hope there is a sign somewhere at the entrance warning people that THIS THING IS THERE
The French sure seem to love scaring the s**t out of people. Good for them!!
That is the creepiest thing I've ever seen. That artist is diabolical.
NO I WILL NOT BE WALKING THRU THERE IF ONE OF THEM EVEN DARES TO LIFT THEIR PINKIE
I've had them about 3 - 4 times in my life, and on the first one, I thought I was dying. The most recent one was weird - it was the only one that *never* hurt. It was about a half-inch, and thus too big to pass. They dealt with it via 'Laser Lithotripsy' - running a thin fiber optic probe up into the kidney that acted as a camera to let them see what was going on, and as a laser gun, so basically they were playing a game of 'Asteroids' with it. Broke it up nice and small, hey, presto, no more stone. The aftermath was no problem at all.
Load More Replies...No wonder they flippin hurt so bad... hundreds of sharp, pointy blades zipping down. OW (Yes, I've had them!)
When I told my doctor that I've had kidney stones in the past, she said *Now you know how it feels to give birth."
Your Dr was right! I'd rather have 12 babies w/o pain meds than to have/pass a kidney stone. I've managed to pass all of them in the last 32yrs.
Load More Replies...That’s not to say that entertainment is bad—it’s fun!—but you need to keep an eye on how much time you’re spending on social media, reading the news, and watching TV. When you start noticing that your quality of life is going downhill, it’s time to take a step back and dial down your exposure to digital entertainment. For instance, if you see your sleep suffering and that you’re far more sedentary, it’s time to rethink how you spend your free time.
I've seen this photo before. This particular one appears to have alopecia.

Why would they put in the effort to make forehead wrinkles? That seems like a silly nuance.
Because when you scream your forehead moves and the skin needs somewhere to go.

Chrysomallon squamiferum, commonly known as the scaly-foot gastropod ... the shell is actually made from calcium carbonate, not iron. Not as sexy, but more accurate. They do live near hydrothermal vents on the seafloor, and the scales are unique to them among the many thousands of known / yet-to-be-discovered species of marine snails!
SERIOUSLY ?? The length of those limbs do NOT belong to a Hedgehog !!
The good thing is that humans cannot be affected by the cordyceps fungus
Load More Replies...The Cordyceps genus of fungi are quite interesting, and also horrifying. instead of taking over the brain, it forces the muscles to expand and retract, so the infected insect still holds on to a leaf or branch after death.
Oh but we have nothing to worry about, sure pull the other one, it's got bells on.
Judging by the fact that his lungs are no longer in his body, I will have to think that you are right. That poor kid and his poor parents, this is a sad way for anyone to die.
Load More Replies...Can you imagine how difficult it was, as parents whose little toddler child just died this horrible way, to make the generous decision to donate this part of his/her little body to science to hopefully warn others about this danger? That had to be incredibly difficult. And so generous of them. RIP little child!
A good example that evolution is evolving very, very slow, but always in a sinsible manner. Developing a tracheal bifurcation was good, but only if something like seen in the picture wouldn't be happening...
When parents say “I know the size of my kids throat.” Um. No. You don’t.
Retired nurse here. They most certainly do not. If they did they would be cutting toddler foods into tiny pieces, not giving them peanuts, popcorn, hard candy.

Load More Replies...This is actually a physiological response to being wet. It only happens to your palms and the bottoms of your feet. It improves grip and traction in wet environments. Unfortunately, when confined in a boot, it also makes it easier for fungus to get a foothold, so to speak ...
You cannot always change shoes. If you are on a long journey on foot in the nature and something happens to your foot or shoe, sometimes the only option is to continue to get to civilization. I remember a few tourist trips, where I had to continue for hours with minor foot injury because it happened in the middle of nowhere and I was with a group of younger kids and had to help to lead them to safety. I got to doctor after everyone was safely in our camp.

I think they did that to prevent people from chipping it off and stealing it to sell it as a "souvenir". Personally I'm all for preserving mementos of horrific acts and horrific people, if only to serve as a reminder that humans can do monstrous things to each other, lest we forget. I'd rather remind people that Ted Bundy existed and that he was a sick, twisted a-hole who deserved to die slowly and painfully than to erase all signs that he lived and was finally brought to justice.

Railroads paid people to shoot buffalo during westward expansion. Often would ride on the railroads and shoot any that they saw. One of them was "Buffalo" Bill Cody. That's where he got his nickname.
They were hunted beyond necessity in order to deprive the Native North American Tribes for whom they were a major part of their diet, as well as all the other uses they had for them, like their hides a shelter and clothing.

Hi Waddles! The sheets were soaked in ice water, and the naked patient was wrapped so tightly they couldn't move. Standard treatment time was four hours. The shock would sometimes help a patient having a break refocus and regroup, but not often enough to justify the treatment.
Load More Replies...Honestly mental health nurses doing anything they think will help people in the NHS right now would be great. You can have a third level urgent mental health assessment and tell them you are ready to go and end yourself that day, and they will say, "okay, go home and we'll send you a letter for another assessment in a few weeks." The mental health system in England right now is absolutely disgusting. People who SHOULD be locked up, for HELP, or their own protection, aren't. Because of lack of funds. Sickening.
When I was about 6 I got some blood taken out for some kind of medical thing (figure something out) and when they were about to do it I started running around the room and trying to hide they ended up bringing I 3 other nurses rapping me up in a blanket and keeping me there while they took the sample
Now they live on the streets, in the wealthiest country in the world.
I can ALMOST see the workings of this...but it was just so flawed, at best. The added weight of the water/liquid, combined with the swaddling would act almost like a modern weighted blanket, which DOES sooth many neuro divergent people. Unfortunately what beneficial aspects there, were nullified by the WET not to mention the all around horror show that was "psychiatry" then
Plus, just because it would help a nuero divergent person, that does not mean it would help someone with whatever mental illness brought these people to the hospital. (By neuro divergent did you mean autistic? Because they are not one and the same.)

Based on fossil evidence, the longest crocodile ever to live was a Sarcosuchus imperator, who measured 40 feet long and weighed 17,600 pounds. Had to live in water because of its size.
Another creepy Thoth thing: According to myth, before Thoth gave humanity written language he gave a stark warning it would poison our ability to memorize and retain information accurately, if not used very very carefully. It could become a power to deceive rather than to enlighten. Pretty foreboding in today's world of disinformation.
