There’s a fine line between designs that are jaw-droppingly original and ones that are truly awful. Unfortunately, a lot of people tend to lean heavily on the latter side of the line, so the world’s filled with design atrocities that will make you cringe. So bad they’re good? Nah. So bad they’re the worst.
The Crappy Design subreddit with more than 2.3 million members is home to the worst designs ever and we bring you the newest ones to scare your artistic friends with. Even if you know next to nothing about good design, you’ll intuitively shy away from some of these design choices. Scroll down, upvote your fave crappy designs, and let us know in the comments which ones you loved to hate the most.
When you’re done, have a look through Bored Panda’s earlier posts about the Crappy Design community here, here, and here.

I mean to be honest this looks close enough. It's a movie, unless there are doctors watching nobody will know the difference
Previously, Bored Panda spoke to the Crappy Design moderators to learn more about their community.
“The original motivation for the subreddit was to point out crappy designs. Nowadays, most subscribers probably come here for entertainment,” the moderators told us that a part of their followers is there just to have fun and gawk at truly ugly design decisions.
“However, it is common to have meaningful discussion here on why or why not something is crappy design,” they pointed out that some of the members actively participate in in-depth chats.

Those who can't afford health care in the US will be driven to suicide. So sad...
It's only suicide, when you want to die ... not when you only have two options: rob a bank to pay for medical treatment, or die, because you can't afford it.
Load More Replies...This is not American healthcare... this is a pharmacy in Sosnowiec, Poland.
I live in Australia. We have Medicare for all - healthcare funded by taxes. You can also choose to pay for private cover so you can choose surgery dates and doctors. You can also choose doctors on Medicare. There is more choice on Medicare than private health insurance. What this means is that the country as a whole is healthier. And it's kind. Taxes should pay for health and education. Insurance should die like the profit driven policies of the 20th century. The 21st century is about ethics and with less money around - that's what we need. & I'm done :)
I strongly suspect that your Medicare and ours in the US are similar in name only. I thought it meant that when you reached eligibility age, your medical expenses were covered. Nope. First you have to enroll with one of a dizzying variety of insurance providers who all cover different things for different costs & copays. Then you wait to see how much you owe AFTER they settle with your medical provider. It's a huge game of roulette and you still end up owing big medical bills.
Load More Replies...True story my MRI of my entire spine in Florida was $13,288 for 30 mins inside a tube! Thankfully my insurance covered it. But just goes to show America's healthcare system is a f****n joke and robbery!!!!
I have brain cancer as well as epilepsy, and as of this writing, need an MRI every six months. They last about half an hour and I also need an IV, which is never fun. I believe one MRI for me costs more than $10,000. If that isn't enough, I also take an anti-seizure medication every 12 hours.
Load More Replies...Yup, the fact that many still feel basic healthcare is not a basic right is astounding. We desperately need to ban lobbyist.
America needs to get their c**p together they need affordable healthcare for one thing and then the list goes on and on
As if to say for affordable health care we must hang together...or separately. You choose.
I see a racist interpretation, but that also looks like a cocktail glass to me.
PLEASE PEOPLE LEAVE POLITICS OUT OF HERE<<<<<GIVE US A PLACE TO FORGET FOR A MOMENT<<<<<<<<<<I I FEEL SO SICK AND TIRED OF IT ALL
I had to call an ambulance bc of an asthma attack and my bill was 4000$ none of it covered by my insurance. My asthma meds are 342$ a month and that's w insurance wo it it's over 1000$. I think they want asthmatics and diabetics to die bc we cost them more than a few dollars to stay alive
Because Alladin’s lamp makes so much since. As Rafiki said, “Look harder.”
That’s how many feel after seeing their health care bill in the US. So glad I live in a country where it’s free and I don’t have to think about bankruptcy for a broken toe.
How does it work? I live in a country where I'm charged 20% of my pre-tax paycheck as extra "healthcare tax" and I will see a doctor in September. I signed up in July. Oh, and I signed up for an eye doctor in January, for next January!
Load More Replies...too be fair tho they said till death do us part well now you are ripped apart
Yes, the American health care system hangs too many of us out to dry. Ahhhh, capitalism. :-((((
I cross my fingers for you, dear americans, that you get health care, too !!!
Healthcare costs can be deadly in many countries... many millions of people globally cannot afford to have their health looked after properly.
I can't even afford the insurance offered by my employment. so I don't have any.
You need to be unemployed to get health care, that's the issue. ObamaCare sure made things great huh?
Load More Replies...That caduceus should have a serpent around a winged staff not a martini glass.
Caduceus is two serpents on a staff and it was attribute of Hermes. You're thinking of the Rod of Asclepius. And the symbol displayed here is Bowl of Hygieia, meaning it's a pharmacy. (There's also relatively new symbol with serpent wrapped around a letter V - for veterinary)
Load More Replies...Obamacare solving something? Nothing but taking from the more financially fortunate - which just encourages people to not get a job and stay living off of the government because why get a job if you don't have to? Anyways, weird symbol for anything, really.
This Captain Of The Submarine In My English Book
That's Not How It Works
Founded back in 2011, the community has flourished over its 9-and-a-half-year existence. Just a year ago, the Crappy Design subreddit had 1.7 million members and got more than 2 million page views each month. Those are huge numbers to be fair. However, since then, the sub has gained an additional half a million new followers.
But let’s hop back to what makes product designs good or bad. For instance, researcher Don Norman writes in his book ‘The Design of Everyday Things’ that good design is upfront and honest about what the thing does. No hidden purposes for Norman!
At the same time, he says that designs have to look beautiful and uncluttered while pushing the boundaries of what a particular object means to us. So we have to be innovative but simple while avoiding clutter and mediocrity. Quite a challenge, wouldn’t you think? No wonder there are so many bad designs out there.

People Wearing Face Masks Looking Like Monsters
Meanwhile, the Interaction Design Foundation stresses that bad designs are often overloaded with useless info and make us waste time to figure out what the thing does and how it works.
So if you’re designing something, make it as intuitive and simple as possible—after all, you wouldn’t want to create something messy that’s bound to end up on the Crappy Design subreddit, would you?

The first one is very obviously meant to deter bikers and skateboarders...but also to give an idiot an outlet for showing how utterly immature he is. He succeeded blisteringly well. The second one--the gardening service's truck---I don't see the problem. It's two hands together holding seedlings, with the shirt sleeves clearly visible above the heels of the hands. Anyone seeing something else isn't focused on the PRODUCT.

this reminds me of when the government hired some people to cut some weeds in these planters on public sidewalks - they were overflowing and complained about - but a lot of the cleaning and gardening staff or whatever they are were laid off from COVID so someone came and cut ALL of the grass that was supposed to be there along with the weeds :/ can you tell it wasn't their job?
