dag, don’t look at us as though we are all the same. MANY of us would like to change to be more like Europe (and the rest of the world) it’s not the people, it’s the government you can blame for it.

I can't write your kyrilic name, but even in ancient sparta women had no right to vote. May you should get your history lessons in a school and not in cinema. They where more valued then in other citystates. But still far away from equal to men. Most of human history women where everything but equal. We are now in most western countries close to equality. But we still have to overcome traditions.

You would not have to change it on one day. Just make everything „new“ with both measurements, and after 5 years switch completely to metric. There will still be old stuff in Imperial around, but it will be replaced with new metric stuff over the years.

In the US, my dashboard displays have always had both mph and km/h probably because Americans may take trips into Canada. I feel that adjusting to km/h is easy -- it's just a number. Match the number in your speedometer to the posted speed limit.

The US tried making the change. I was in elementary school in the 70s when they tried. It didn't work.

Celsius is FAR from arbitrary. The freezing and boiling point of water (at STP) are pretty easy to reproduce.

While celcuis is not a strict or 'true' unit like Kelvin or time it isnt arbitrary, 0 is the point at which water freezes and 100 is considered boiling point, I know there are a lot of variables there but someone pulled Fahrenheit from their a*s

It’s the fact of logic, the imperial system makes no sense. Also we shouldn’t have to learn imperial seeing as the rest of the world uses metric, the US is only place where Imperial measurements are widely used. The UK are stuck between both but technically they are meant to be metric now.

If it is as difficult for an american to learn the metric system, then americans are dumber then I thought. Multiples of 10 is everything you need to know. I don't think americans are that stupid. The metric system is jsut simple as it should be for a system of measurement.

Really? Why don't you try learning the American system. I think you'll find that activity as difficult as an American learning the Metric system. Don't hate us merely because we choose to be different. Like men who wear eye-shadow.
