Taste is subjective, and if you still doubt it, just talk to people about whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza. Straight off the bat, you will hear contradictory answers and see just how eager folks are to defend them.

Only vaguely a food opinion, but, there’s no such thing as a “special occasion” food. Like, cakes are often associated with parties. But I’m a grown man and if I want cake because it’s Wednesday I’m gonna go get myself a Wednesday cake.
Breakfast is an "anytime" kind of food. It doesn't have to be restricted to 5 AM - 1030 AM. Sometimes I like bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and strawberry vanilla crepes at 8:47 PM.
Cupcakes with super thick and ornate frosting are fun to look at but rarely tasty
If they don’t have thick, genuine buttercream frosting, they are just sad muffins.
Just because you like hot food, doesn't mean you have to use the absolute hottest sauce you have.
I can handle hot, but prefer medium, where I can enjoy the heat but still actually taste my foods flavour.
I honestly don't think rice belongs inside a burrito. Get the carbs from the tortilla and any veggies. Rice is just a useless filler to make the burrito seems fuller than it really is. Also corn tortillas are superior for tacos.
Runny eggs are gross. Your favorite chef's "perfect scrambled eggs" look like vomit.
Sushi rolls shouldn’t be so big you have to take more than one bite or else they disintegrate
Just eat your sushi, rolls, maki or sashimi in an actual Japanese restaurant : taste before size. Leave the big fake ones to the western fast food chains
Sticking to the traditional authentic versions of foods is not necessarily better. It’s ok to be creative in cooking and mix things from different cuisines
Sometimes you have to modify them to suit the tastebuds of the people you’re serving them to. I don’t just mean people who weren’t raised on them, there are also people whose gastrointestinal system is somewhat delicate, and can’t take hot, spicy foods. Or wheat. Or dairy. Or…you get the picture.
Anything tastes good when you put sugar on it. People who think they like rhubarb are just kidding themselves. No one liked rhubarb. They like sugar.
Edit: rhubarb was capitalized and it doesn't deserve it.
Why are french fries not suitable for breakfast but tater tots are? I should be able to eat whatever I want for breakfast even if it’s not typically a breakfast food because it’s still mostly the same.
All food is food. Food doesn't have a schedule. Eat a curry for breakfast and cereal for dinner. The food doesn't care.
The cookie part of the Oreo is better than the stuffing part
Horseradish is amazing and belongs on more than just roast beef
Mayo on fries. Never realized how controversial it was until I moved to the States
Cream cheese in sushi is f*****g gross
WHO EVEN DOES THIS GIVE ME THEIR ADDRESS AND I WILL PERSONALLY HIRE MY CAT TO ASSASSINATE THEM (free advertising moment- she works 200 buckaroonies an hour and always gets the job done)
Red velvet is b******t
I mean the only reason I like it is because my monkey brain goes BRIGHT COLOR! Must CONSUME!
Load More Replies...There's a baker local to me that makes real-deal, traditional Red Velvet Cake and that is not BS. It's amazing and worlds away from what most people think of when they hear ''Red Velvet.' The fake coloured c**p people claim as ''Red Velvet'' is pure nasty and a complete scam.
It’s not even a flavor, it’s just chocolate cake with a huge amount of red food coloring. Yuck.
Traditional red-velvet cakes do not use food coloring. The red colour comes from non-Dutched chocolate. The Dutching process is a process by which chocolate is treated with an alkalizing agent to reduce the natural acidity in the chocolate. This process also has the effect of turning the chocolate from a deep earthy red colour to the brown colour that you are used to seeing. A real red-velvet cake has a light citrus flavour, which comes from the cocoa, not from any added fruit, as does the red colour. The use of coloured devil's food cake is a fairly new invention. The again the difference being that devil's food cake is made from chocolate, whereas red-velvet is made from cocoa. You will note that if you buy real cocoa powder, it will have a red colour to it.
Load More Replies...The original red velvet cake is based on a chemical reaction involving cocoa and buttermilk/vinegar. It doesn't include food dye and isn't red so much as a rusty brown. You can find recipes if you include the word "original" in the google search and only consider recipes that call for little to no dye at all (and which fuss a lot about the right type of cocoa and flour and the correct amount of .buttermilk/vinegar). I've been meaning to try it out myself but am not sure of how to get all the ingredients here in Germany.
The real red velvet is amazing. The sour cream added to turn the cocoa pink adds a lot of complex flavors. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to find these days, killed by the shamless scam "replica" made with red coloring in the dough.
It's mostly the correct cocoa that's really hard to find. The acid mix only works with non-Dutch process cocoa, and that seems to be pretty rare these days.
Load More Replies...Most people out of the south do not know how to make a Red Velvet cake. And do not even think about using that cake mix. Red velvet is very tender, has a chocolate base taste, a cream taste, and is very light. I have never had a good Red Velvet out of state nor from a bakery. And most have NO idea about white velvet frosting.
It only tastes different from chocolate because the food coloring taints the flavor
And don't even THINK about putting cream cheese frosting on it. Blasphemous.
I had never tried it before and we had one at a work party. One of my co-workers was kind enough to take me aside and warn me about how it would turn my poop red so I wouldn't freak out.
Yeah, and the shock factor for me personally. One Christmas Eve celebrating with my family, I over imbibed on both beer and red velvet cake. When I came home later that night and got ready for bed I went to brush my teeth and spit first. Well it was all red, and in my inebriated state I immediately thought I was bleeding internally, thinking holy c**p I better call 911 until I remembered I had eaten practically a whole red velvet cake earlier that evening.
As a pastry chef, let me elaborate. It's oil and red food coloring. Yes, I know some folks use beet whatnots as coloring, but usually it's a schnit ton of red food coloring. There's not enough chocolate to be chocolate, yet too much chocolate to not be vanilla. Red velvet is indeed bullschnit.
If made with real Red velvet recipe then its the moistest cake one can have. Just rad colour makes no sense.
Adding red dye to regular chocolate cake does not make it red velvet! You need buttermilk! Homemade is far superior to store/bakery junk
What makes red velvet is the food coloring and that doesn't taste. Just make good tasting cake.
I actually didn't know this but in America, the red velvet is dyed chocolate, but in the places I went to in India, the red velvet cake tasted like rose, and it was heavenly.
It's chocolate cake. With red food coloring. Find a recipe, you'll see what I mean. 😉
Considering it's just a food colouring additive, then yes, it's just another gimmick.
Marinate hard boiled eggs in pickled beet juice. So pretty. Amish i believe.
Red velvet is good... because it's chocolate cake. I'm really hoping everyone knows this by now lol. It's literally chocolate cake with red food coloring and cream cheese frosting. So if you like chocolate cake, you like red velvet. Literally the only thing tastes wise for me is the cream cheese frosting, I prefer it over other frosting. But most chocolate cake comes with butter cream.
Roasted marshmallows are only worth eating if they have been fully caught on fire first. Burnt sh’mellows hit different.
Circus Peanuts and Candy Corn are NOT food and are completely repulsive!......
Truffles are overrated. They are used on everything as a buzz word and generally don’t even need to be there to begin with.
They are usually added so sparingly, that I'm still not sure I know what a truffle tastes like. I would quite like to eat a whole one, just to find out.
Bananas do NOT go in fruit salad!
The texture does not match the rest of the fruit, and the mush ruins it
Wrong, bananas are a MUST on fruit salad, their texture os no different than grapes or kiwi, and the flavor they give its amazing.
Unless it is a very good steak, burgers are better.
too much cheese on/in food stops being enjoyable
Bacon is fine, but is vastly over appreciated. It’s salted meat. Chill out everyone.
Most British food is awful, like terrible, yet nobody will admit it.
EDIT: A lot of people seem to think I’m not British. I am. Whenever I eat out, it’s foreign food for this guy. Keep your Sunday dinners to yourself.
Not sure what kind of British food you are talking about, but I pity you
Canned fish is awesome! Not just sardines and anchovies but you can get all kinds of fish in cans, even stuff like clams and even squid! And if you prefer food without too many additives or processing, look at the back of the can, it typically says something like "ingredients: fish, salt, some sort of oil (veg or sunflower or something) and with some, the processing is so minimal the fish is just cooked in the can after sealing during the pasturization process.
Try kipper snacks, they kinda have a smokey bacon taste. Fantastic treat/snack
Kippers are amazing. Add a little butter and Mmmmm. Also, canned mackeral fillets in tomato sauce are perfect on toast. It doesn't sound good, but it is extremely good.

What I like is pineapple on pizza, scrambled eggs with mushrooms, fresh fruit, and craft beer!
Load More Replies...My coffee-deprived brain read "samosas" as "mimosas" which seemed an odd accompaniment to curry...

Normalise people liking what they want ffs. Who cares how people like their food?!
No one gonna mention all this beautiful cakes that's totally non-edible because of all the sugarpaste? No?
