Tipping culture in America. I can justify a standard 18-20% for good service in bars/restaurants. Why the actual f**k am I being asked to tip 20-30%+ for carry out to eat at home or when I buy retail goods?

That giving people rights does not remove your rights. You don't get a free right to suppress people who are not like you. BuT I dOn'T wAnT gAyS tO mArRy... Then don't marry someone of your gender. You can still freely stay married to your opposite gendered spouse. It isn't infringing on your rights. It bugs you that you can't force other people to do what you want.

Being an introvert doesn’t mean I’m shy. It means having a social battery which gets run down and sometimes becomes empty if I don’t have enough peaceful alone time to recharge it. My job is peopley enough but at least I’m paid to be there. I actively avoid crowds on my time off.

Socialized Healthcare, apparently. "but I'm not sick and I don't wann apay for other people and never use it" blah blah blah. You could fall flat on your face and second and need 500 bucks worth of stitches and painkillers. You can get run over at no fault of your own. You can have a fricking aneurysm. Getting regular checkups is even gonna bring your premiums down, the insurance would rather pay 50-100 for a yearly dental checkup than 15k in prosthetics because all your teeth rotted out because you didn't see anyone in 10 years. Why is the concept of socialism so scary to some Americans? What's so bad about it? Being able to rely on the community? If I get sick, I don't bankrupt myself. If I lose my job, I won't lose my home and can still live a frugal, but dignified life. I would rather live a life with a lot of security and all the same options than a life with 0 security but "mah freedomz". Medical debt bankruptcy is not freedom.Show All 20 Upvotes

Weird at first but I appreciate and wish for it. It might be just a Germany thing but from what I’ve been told German Walmart failed because the North American style of customer service was very unliked. From the greeter at the door to clerks asking if you need help unprompted. German shoppers just want to shop and go home as undisturbed as possible

You don't get to hug my kids if they don't want to hug you. I don't care if you're the grandparent or what.

Leaving American mothers with absolutely no support, no paid parental leave, no decent childcare options, poor postpartum healthcare, and then criticizing them ad nauseam for the choices they are forced to make in the hellscape that is American motherhood.

When my sweetheart of 43 years was diagnosed with stage IV cancer I gave up everything to care for her. Overwhelmed with grief and exhaustion, I found myself having suicidal thoughts. I sought counseling. One evening I had a thought that felt like a solenoid firing in my brain: "Just because the love of my life could be dying, that doesn't mean I have to stop living." I started building in mini-vacations every day. Play music. Ride a motorcycle. Fly a drone. Tell a joke. We both survived.
