I've been a portrait artist here in Portland for 22 years, and this is my fourth fundraising coffee-table book of 'Pets and Their Peoples'. This one is for Northwest Battle Buddies—they raise, train, and GIVE PTSD-trained service dogs to vets with PTSD. The impact is out-of-this-world!
These are images from my upcoming book, and some from previous books.

That's my dear friend, Ron, with his rescue Gunny. He was able to wedge himself into his dress blues at age 77. : - )
That dear Sir is a feat I could not do at 13 years his junior. Semper Fi!

That's Chelle with her 17-year old 'Yote, her two 15-year old dogs Buck and Ammy, and her 99 year-old mother, Kathryn (now 101)
Kelly is a veterinarian and a dog sled racer. Her lead 'melted' my backdrop while on three legs. A truly impressive display of "I'M the leader here, bucko!" attitude.
Ethan Hawke is a third-generation grand national champion. He's been 'on the circuit', as you can tell.
I always think "Just stinkin' happy!" when I look at her.
My clients were thrilled - as with all of my portraits I design each portrait with and for each client. We work together to build in what is emotionally significant to them and tells the story of the relationship. Willson is a true hunting dog, they go out at least once a month. But, he's past his hard hunting days, so now it's hunting for dad around the house to take him out for a gentle stroll.
Excellent composition and high contrast. So brooding and that doggo is gorgeous.
A friend of mine gave me that toy shopping cart and along came Alice (at 3.7 pounds and 8 years old!) B O I N G !
The eyes bore into your soul and say: "I love you, I want treats, I love you, I want treats"
Yes, quite a few miles on that little guy. He was 3 ounces when he was handed to his owner!
In that case, what I thought of applies to you, too; “That one looks regal!” 😌

Kari is such a yoga-maniac. "Can you do a tree pose?" "Yep!" "Can you hold Otis and Milo in each hand while you do it?" "Yep!" "Can you hold Otis and Milo in each hand ON A CHAIR while you do it?" "Yep!" Proof positive!

Adorable photos! And as someone who lives with PTSD- you’re doing an honorable thing here, and God bless you for doing it.
These are stunning! Thank you for showcasing how much service pets can mean to someone with PTSD.
Charles, your photos are gorgeous and so is your soul. Thank you for doing such a wonderful thing for our veterans and their service dogs.
