The task of cleaning can often become daunting and tedious. Yet when it comes to watching other people do it on social media, it somehow magically becomes relaxing and satisfying. Maybe you’ve even fired up some gross yet enjoyable sink-scrubbing TikToks at 1 a.m. while avoiding irrepressible thoughts of human existence. Honestly, these people really deserve more credit for their superior tidying skills.

We can’t deny the chokehold that cleaning content has on us anymore. So, we’ve collected some of the most satisfying cleaning pics shared by people on this subreddit. You don’t have to follow in their footsteps; just appreciate and marvel at the hard work that went into making these things and spaces look this good!

I KNOW how debilitating depression is. It sucks the life right out of you. All you want to do is escape, either through tv, reading, booze or drugs.

Sometimes a messy room is not always a sign of laziness or business. Diogenes syndrome, or messy house syndrome, is linked to mental disorders like depression, dementia, and addiction. It is known to cause hoarding, dirty homes, and poor personal hygiene. People suffering from this syndrome usually live alone, are unaware of such conditions, or have restricted mobility.

Cluttered and dirty spaces have earned themselves the name “depression rooms” on social media. Extreme cases of such spaces consist of overwhelming amounts of garbage, clothes, dust, dishes, and other questionable things covering all surfaces. People become so mentally and physically exhausted that they don’t feel like they have the energy to take care of themselves or their environment.

Wow this his wholesome. I would need this but I have a hard time let go my stuff so I have to sort it out by myself. It's constant work, it's exhausting, everyday there is more to do but with no energy after work... It's draining.... It helps to be a little less harsh to oneself and accept that there is still clutter and laundry and it could be worse.

Getting rid of one thing a day is 30 things a month (or so) and sometmes doing it as slowly as that can make it achievable - or even spur you to do more (I'm speaking from personal experience). Mine isn't too bad now (so my husband keeps telling me anyway!) but if FEELS it. Yesterday I went through two bathroom cabinets and got rid of some expired products and today I'm going to get rid of a few more clothes. I've had luck selling some things on Vinted as well. Small steps. I wish you luck. It's not easy when it's an emotional connection that is holding you back (for me some clothes remind me of when life was less painful and I could work and I don't want to get rid of them, even though I have zero reason for keeping them). You CAN do it, but it is fine to do it at your pace. 🙂 Edit: Got rid of some jackets just now! Felt motivated suddenly!

Statistics show that about 75% of people who suffer from OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) have common cleaning urges such as organizing, rearranging, disinfecting, hand washing, or complex personal hygiene. While these activities are considered normal for most people, they often become time-consuming for someone with OCD. Repetitive behaviors are used to cope with unwanted thoughts that these people have. They might even think “If I don’t line up my toiletries exactly this far apart, someone is going to harm me today, or if I clean my sink five times this morning, my brother won’t get sick today.”

However, a cluttered or spotless room doesn’t define every mental disorder, so it’s best to approach this topic sensitively.

Something that helps me is forcing myself to clean something, anything, especially when im not feeling motivated. Like if my kids have toys everywhere and I have both sinks full of dishes and laundry piling up I pick one of those things and call it good (unless I have energy and decide to take care of them all, which is rare). Its small but helps me feel like I have accomplished something

For some of us, tidying our space can be quite therapeutic. It helps to gain a sense of control and engage the brain in a repetitive activity that calms the mind. As cleaning is quite self-explanatory, it weirdly provides comfort to the human brain. Additionally, completing such tasks brings feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction. After a challenging day, even scrubbing your shower can make you feel like you succeeded at something.

It can also work as a mini-workout at home and provide similar benefits as exercising. Vacuuming, scrubbing, and sweeping floors, moving around the house, and running up and down flights of stairs can provide an outlet for energy and a release of brain chemicals that make us feel better. So if you’re stuck in a stress cage, it might be a good time to start cleaning.

After you clean your grout, you can use grout sealer on it and it will stay white. You'll need to reseal it every couple of years or so, but it's really worth it to have grout that looks like it's brand new all the time.

My other half has discovered a YT channel devoted to 'detailing'. I. Was. Horrified. I was astounded to see the filth that some people drive around in like it's normal! And the scariest thing is that this guy makes a good living out if it so there must be a LOT of dirty people out there. And before I get shouted down by those who think they might be less able bodied car owners who have a good reason not to clean out their cars - these customers are quite capable, they simply choose to live like...well I was going to say pigs but that would be an insult to pigs. The used t*mpon was the worst 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Cleaning content online has the tendency to captivate our attention and not let go. It’s satisfying and soothing to see things being transformed with only a cleaning product and a sponge. Interestingly enough, watching a quick transformation from mess to tidiness can help you to unwind. It can even induce ASMR (tingling sensations) in some viewers, as long as the sounds and motions are gentle. Besides, people relate to authenticity and instead of showing a clean kitchen or a perfectly made bed, these videos show that not everything is always picture-perfect. Oh, and let’s be honest, it often makes us feel less guilty about our own mess.

There are sealers available to protect the finish, but it requires frequent touch ups. The patina of the upper photo was likely the finish it was supposed to have. That original finish was likely scrubbed away. Might have to fight green oxidation from now on.

Please get it sealed to help stay on top of maintenance. It's possible the original patina was dark. When it's removed, oxidation starts almost immediately and will turn the finish green, like the Statue of Liberty. Watch especially for seams around faucets and drains. It's beautiful, but lots of work.

While we enjoy cleaning inspiration online, healthcare experts are noticing some risks that participants in this trend might face. In videos, people are seen filming themselves filling up a toilet, bath, or sink with large amounts of various cleaning products. The concept is known as "product overload," and doctors have commented on this, saying that mixing this many chemicals can result in severe reactions. Just because someone mixes chemicals in a video doesn’t mean that it is safe for viewers at home. But it’s not the only risk; flushing excessive amounts of mixed cleaners can affect the integrity of plumbing and impact the community’s wastewater. It’s important to remember that cleaning products are best used as directed on the label, and incorrect usage of chemicals might result in bodily reactions or damage to your home.

On stovetops I use a razor-blade glass scraper to remove as much of the burnt-on stuff as I can. The top of the stove is enameled, which is glass that is melted onto steel. (Not to be confused with enamel paint). Then I'll wipe up the loose bits and finish with a powdered cleanser like Comet. It makes short work of it.

I always hope that after cleaning that it will stay this way and we just have to put everything in its place to keep it tidy.... But then everyday chaos hits us, piles go up and it's again so much work it's hard to start with....I hate this. I have a free day today. A day I should relax. I am now making laundry, dishes, the bed, putting stuff away and it's still so so much to do.... And with more than one person in the house the plan to keep it in one condition is always doomed in my experience. Everyone has a different sense of tidy, of where things should be stored, of energy to put things away....

No work could consume your life in such a way that your kitchen counter ends up like that... I'm sorry, maybe I'm judgmental (let the down votes commence) but I used to work 60 hours a week, for approximately 7-8 years (as a man living alone), but I never let my home get that way! If I did not feel like washing dishes in the evening, the next day they were spotless! Just pilling empty containers and leaving food in dishes, when the bin is 5 feet away is laziness, in my opinion, not because of work!

That's fine for you but as you can see in the comments and upvotes on many of this pics there are plenty people who struggle more. You are indeed judgemental and surely don't know the exhausting, overwhelming feeling we feel. I wish you the best to never come to this point. Be glad for it and acknowledge that people are different, with different emotions, health, energy, priorities, stress, strength and so on

My word. I always take my towel after I've dried off and I throw it in the tub. I get in it and dry off all the wetness, which in turn wipes up the body grease and soap scum we leave behind after every use. 2 minutes save me something like this.

I've been traumatized by those jet tubs. Never get them. Took a bath in one at someone's house, turned on the jets, ten seconds later realized they were pumping mold out and I was coated. I felt disgusting for weeks. Unless you use them very regularly, it's impossible to keep them clean and mold free.

Once upon a time, maybe 15-20 years ago, manufacturers were promoting cleaning products that had Teflon in them. The idea, supposedly was, that if you cleaned something like your bathtub with this product, it would lay down a film of Teflon and then dirt wouldn't stick to it. Well, they had part of that right: the product deposited a film of Teflon... that dirt bonded to like an alloy. When I moved into my current place over 15 years ago, it took three months of constant cleaning and scraping and scouring, and finally a drill bit brush attachment, to get that gunk off the bath tub and shower walls. I think that the EPA pulled all that stuff off the market, at least I hope they did because it's a dangerous compound, but if not, people, don't use that. Just don't.

Likely cheap decorators for even cheaper landlords. They painted my old flat before I moved in but didn't bother removing the mirror (which was hung on a nail) to pain the bathroom so the blue from previous tenants was underneath, worst of all it was askew so when you straightened the mirror you could see where they hadn't painted....drove me potty

Looks amazing. One little suggestion if you don't mind. Move the loppers. If they fall behind the dryer, you're going to have to do some heavy lifting.

i used to do the same cleaning/organizing when my mom would be coming to visit. then, i realized it really didn't matter because no matter how well i cleaned she cleaned again. i asked her why she did that and her reply was that it made her feel like she was doing the one thing she could still do for me. eventually she got better at not cleaning so much but i did finally realize that her cleaning wasn't a criticism of my efforts but an expression of her love.

Lemon oil, too. When I was in high school a neighbor had a company that cleaned office buildings. She'd hire us kids, show us how (pretty easy work), pick us up and drop us off. We'd wash the stainless steel water fountains and then swipe them with a lemon oil rag to make them shine, remove prints, and help resist stains.
