I have never seen these without thinking "Asshat". Especially now that I've reached the point where I have to take a break on my 2.5 mile (4K) walk to work. The only place to sit is covered in these. They aren't as painful as my hip is, but these are simply cruel and unneccesary....

Yeah there was a documentary a while ago about Hostile Architechure. It looks like modern art? But its actually set up on purpose to stop people sleeping rough, forcing them to beg elsewhere.

Lots of cities see them as a nuisances. To be rounded up and disposed of I was on a different list where one complained homeless people ruined r.v. parks and a woman who got evicted because she was in the hospital for serious health problems. They kicked her out because she was not staying in the home enough.

im really sorry that these things happened to you, but that doesnt mean its always the same. The woman you met at the end was just being a c**t, and that doesnt have to do anything with the fact she's homeless or begging. The other day i gave a guy who was begging 2 euro, he was super grateful and we ended up talking, and i was cuddling his dog. He was superfriendly and nice. That doesnt mean all homeless persons are nice either.

I would much rather a homeless person sleeps in front of my house than dosent sleep at all. Homeless are not animals. They are PEOPLE. Treat them like it.

I get what you are saying, but if these activists keep reversing the “anti-homeless” architecture it may give the city a kick in the butt to stop wasting money on installing it. The money would be better spent on actual homeless shelters, resources, etc.

THIS. I was the live in apartment manager of a building in a so-so area of town. I had to deal with people passed out blocking our exit door (which opened outward) - at least twice. People s******g in our doorway - at least twice. People pissing on our building - many times. People leaving their trash (often empties) in our doorway / edges of the building. And on one occasion I had to call in the paramedics due to a couple came up our back fire escape and were doing heroin on the roof and the woman (apparently) OD'd. Then they had to haul her kicking and screaming through our building out the front because the fire escape was not a safe way to get her down. The "good" homeless people (I acknowledge they exist) are not the ones camping out across your store's display window and/or blocking the entrance.

I worked in a place where I had to clean the s**t and p**s from a mentally ill man out of the doorway most mornings. He was well known on the street, and was a nice guy when he was lucid. After about three years of that the business owners, who always tried to help him, gave in and installed something to make it impossible to sleep there.

This is companies doing this tho. Imagine would could happen if they put their money into helping the homeless instead of deterring them.

It's not a lot". I wanted to cry. I left eating nothing because that was all I had. I will still give food to every person that will ask for it but I don't buy into making other people life easier with cost of my safety and wellbeing.

Yes! Thank you. Your so Right. I worked in a Restaurant during College. One day a homeless started To ask the guests who where sitting outside for Money. Super annoying. We told him To leave, he returned the next day. After 3 days we Called the police, but they couldnt do anything. So we hired a private security - he Never came back. And im sure EVERYONE will understand if this happens To your own money!

Hell yeah! I read on another site about a man who stumbled on some hostile architecture and was badly injured. I can't recall the details, and I'm not sure where I saw it, but he was having difficulty in getting his medical bills paid. Hostile architecture is EVIL. Period.
