Everyone has a somewhat objective idea of what “good” looks like. Most can probably agree that, say, Superman or Captain America are good guys. But in the real world, sometimes it feels like things are more complicated. So, hopefully, to help stimulate some creativity, we’ve gathered pictures from this group dedicated to “chaotic good” moments.

So get comfortable as you scroll through, maybe take some notes if what you see inspires you, upvote your favorites and be sure to share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below down below.

The phrase "chaotic good" gets thrown around on the internet quite a bit nowadays, usually to describe individuals engaging in something mischievous but ultimately good. Think of someone defying a silly rule to help out somebody, or manipulating social norms in a way that's more humorous and for the better, not the worse. But to truly understand why people love these stories, it helps to know where the term comes from in the first place.

"Chaotic good" is derived from the alignment system in "Dungeons & Dragons", the classic tabletop role-playing game that's been around since the 1970s. The system has two axes, law vs. chaos, good vs. evil, to map out different personality tendencies and moral compasses.

There's another woman who is very very white (because that's what gives her the ability to do this without too much fear) who has a Mexican flag sticker on her car. She frequently gets stopped by ICE and she does everything to drag the questioning out as long as possible (going on wild tangents and such). If they're harassing her, they can't be harassing immigrants.

My local library is a community centre hub-it provides spaces for book clubs, story telling, writing classes, music appreciation etc. It runs film clubs for all ages, they have online subscriptions for every magazine and journal you could ever want, and rent out a bunch of stuff, including kitchen equipment-the last thing I borrowed was a madeleine tin (for fancy cakes I was trying out). Libraries are brilliant.

I took my elderly father to the library to get a card for just this reason, he doesn't use the card but can if he so chooses. Libraries are awesome. Ebooks and Emagazines, Audio books, on the Libby app. Movies, Documentaries and all types of shows from across the globe via the Libby companion app Kanopy. This is only a brief list of what is available at libraries in the US. l love libraries and everyone should, too.

That's why the internet has latched onto the concept. Chaotic good moments are essentially fun to watch or read about, because they marry rebellion with niceness. It's the kid who breaks open a vending machine to give treats away to everyone in school. It's the cubicle worker who finds an exception to a trivial company rule and takes advantage of it to make others' days easier. It's the friend who awkwardly embarrasses himself to break up an awkward situation and make everyone comfortable. They're small acts of defiance, but they feel a sense of pleasure and correctness about them that's endlessly satisfying.

The government in the US is prohibited from interfering with speech or the press in the US. Private companies, like an internet company, can moderate the content on their sites to whatever standard they desire. There, I hope you learned something today.

I hate that this type of bodyshaming is still acceptable. I absolutely despise what ICE is doing and find their activity unquestionably reprehensible. I live in a very rural area of the US south and so the redneck big boys club is a thing here. The micropẹnis slur is used as a counter to them as well ("Guess what they are compensating for" is the typical line.) I do not understand how this is acceptable. We are intelligent enough to find better and more accurate ways to disparage such behavior.

Part of the delight is that crazy good moments are what many of us secretly wish to do. Most people comply with rules out of habit, politeness, or fear of consequences, even though the rules themselves don't necessarily add up. Watching individuals joyfully break them in a way that makes life better, not worse, gratifies that urge we all possess to distort the world towards justice, no matter how much chaos it may take to get there.

You have to isolate the population in order to indoctrinate into believing patriotism is nationalism. The next step is to cause civil unrest in stable, tourist-focused locations then have the state department warn against traveling there. Going as far to stage false flags or instigate already simmering unease into unrest into protest. Once you convince the general population that all outsiders are boogeymen, you can deepen the manipulation. Just ask the Weimar Republic. Or read any dystopian warning novel. The wall, especially painted black & manned by armed civilians is intimidating. Images of it help further the fearmongering.

I live in Malasia where a good percentage of the population are Chinese and Indian. The Islam religion, in fact all religions, need to update themselves. Women wearing hijabs and long sleeved shirts and long pants because men can't control their desires seems totally stupid when there are women all around with their hair uncovered, wearing bikinis, shorts, mini skirts and bare arms. Just men trying to control women.

Another reason that these instances speak to our hearts is because they remind us that kindness doesn't have to be stodgy or saintly. Being good is not always about solemn sacrifice, but occasionally it's about being playful, creative, even a little raucous. Chaotic good people don't ask permission to be of assistance and are not deterred by convention or reputation. They simply see a chance to make something better and take it, often accompanied by a smile and an air for drama.

I’m saying it’s right. I worked for a huge HUGE bank in the U.S. in the early 2000’s and was able to reverse up to $300 in overdrafts fees (only the $32 per overdraft compounded… not the actual debt) without supervisor approval. There are over 400 customers/callers that got a Christmas surprise that year. The bank would later go on to be sued and fined and whatnot for creating customer accounts w/o their knowledge and charges/fees would accrue like crazy. You guys, 30% of our job review was SALES. Not what you want when calling your bank, frantic, and without a dime. So whatever $300 times 400 is. That bank is doing fine today, btw, as all big banks worldwide get only slapped on the wrist after being found not only guilty, but knowingly and maliciously took people’s money. If you’ve gotten this far, it was Fells Wargo. Name has been edited to uh be fictional.

I live in Southern California. My family has owned a housecleaning service since the early 90s. We have NEVER had a white employee, nor had a single white person ever even apply to work for us. The white people around where I live don't even want to scrub their OWN toilets, let alone someone else's. (And yes, we pay well - our employees get paid 18%-22% of each home they clean, depending on their seniority/etc. It ends up being way more than CA min wage per hour.) My mother (who is a narcissistic idiot) and my sister (her clone) both voted for the Mango Mussolini and I was like "uh soooo... all of our employees are going to be terrified now even though they're legal... you're OKAY with this?" Even worse, I'm white af, but I'm adopted: my adoptive family IS MEXICAN. Sigh.

The "Orange God" is concerned mortgage interest is too high, therefore affecting home ownership. Odd he doesn't seem concerned by stupid high costs for housing, which I guarantee is the culprit. I was alive in the early-mid 80's when interest rates which were 12-14%. For example, my daughter and SIL purchased in 2020/21 for $200k, was just down there (NC) in June, assessed value is now $325K. 50-60% increase in housing costs in 4 years.

That's why listicles of disorganized good moments are so addictive. They're short peeks at mankind at its most strange and fantastic. They're about breaking rules not for selfishness, but for fun, fairness, and sheer enjoyment of toppling things for the common good. In a world that can sometimes feel too formal and solemn, these stories are a reminder that sometimes the best sort of good is the kind served up with a spoonful of mayhem.

Look up Nicole Collier-she's a democrat senator who was forced to stay in the Capitol Building and not go home. I'm not in USA, but I think the basic issue is there were gerrymandering attempts going on, the democrat politicians left so that a vote couldn't be held, and they were then forced to have police escorts to ensure they attended. She refused to consent to an escort and was confined to the building and not allowed to leave. She's filed a case saying she was unlawfully detained.

There was a similar thing in South Africa during anti-apartheid demonstrations. I can't remember all the details - I was told about it by a friend who had taken part. An individual could protest, but two or more would be breaking the law. Therefore, people protested 2m apart. Instead of a group of people protesting, there would be a kilometer of protestors.

My great nephew was a ring-bearer in my daughter's wedding. The flower child had a basket of silk blossoms to throw as the bride walked down the aisle. Afterwards, the two of them picked them all up and went to everyone in attendance and gave them a flower. They did it on their own and, honestly, everyone loved it.

On my blog there's a button on the comments field that requires people to declare that they are not resident in the United Kingdom. It's a vague and stupid bit of legislation cooked up by the Tories to be seen to be doing something; and even worse the official enforcer doesn't appear to have a clue and doesn't want to provide concrete examples of what is and is not covered. And with this week's additions, I would not be surprised if the rest of the world unplugged the UK from the grown up internet and instead fed them online content aimed at toddlers - let them look at Big Bird in suggestive poses (until Miss Piggy gets annoyed at him stealing her crown).

The primitive people in red states have proven that they won’t vote for a woman. As unfair as it is, we have to run a man (probably a straight yt man) if we ever want to put Republicans out of power. Once we get those dîckheads out (by a large majority) THEN we might be able to run a woman for POTUS and win.

A kilt most certainly does fit the most basic definition of what a skirt is. Sensitive men out there just need it separated from women, who also wear kilts. 🤷🏼

Kilts are generally hot and heavy, so that was quite some sacrifice. As a Scottish man I'd also just like to say that it's a wee bit disrespectful to think of a kilt as a skirt but if it got the rules chnaged, good on them.

Holy f*ck. She was hired as an artist by Epstein, held in captivity and as*aulted. Her sister had the same experience in another of Epstein's properties. She reported everything immediately afterwards to the NYPD in 1996, but no action was taken due to a jurisdiction issue. It was escalated to the FBI but not followed through until 2006, likely because at the time the agency was overwhelmed by the Oklahoma City bombing, Centennial Park, TWA800 and WTC investigations. She went to the press in 2002, but the interview was not published under Epstein's pressure. Allegedly he got death threats by Maxwell to stop pursuing prosecution.

If they're at the bottom, with horns, I'm assuming those are the worst. But if they're above in the Sun, does that mean they were involved, but not that bad? If they're above the ground, I wonder what that means? One definitely looks like Clinton (in the TV on the left). I hope it's not, but you never know. Growing cannabis is no longer a crime, and it has in many cases turned into a legit business, so it's fair that the detention terms for people imprisoned would be ended since what they did is not a crime anymore

Latest market data from the ACEA (the association of automobile manufacturers) recorded a 40% drop in Tesla registration across Europe in the last year. They lost over 20% market share in the EV category. They sell about 8000 cars (any model) per month in the continent, a number that should be in the ballpark of the results expected for a single model in a single country. They lost $3.2B on a single quarter, despite running schemes to pre-register unsold cars in order to get regulatory credits revenue. The upcoming third and fourth quarter reports are expected to be a mas*acre, since the loss of the tax credit in USA (thanks to Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, nonetheless) and tariff impact is going to be harsh. Time to short sell Tesla.

I am not in the USA, that might make a difference to what I'm seeing. Google Maps says Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America). Bing Maps says Gulf of Mexico, as does Mapquest.

It's the Gulf of Mexico. Then again, the Gulf of the Americas (plural) sounds good too.

Since 'America' is the name of the two continents and not any country, 'Gulf of America' has always made more sense. Still, I support 'Gulf of Mexico' simply because (so-called) President Trump doesn't.

Pretty Sure This Fits Here, No S**t

There is no established royal protocol that states members of the royal family should not participate in children's field day activities or sporting activities at large. Diana ran in races a few times (not always winning) as did Sarah Ferguson. Good on them, but this isn't a rule at all.

At that time in history, it may have been considered “déclassé” but didn’t violate any informal aristocratic protocol. Instead it spoke of her free spirit attitude & her willingness to take the public or royal court criticism, should it have come. - https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-princess-diana-break-royal-protocol-school-moms-race-1738917

Diana ran in the race in 1991. Charles ran in the father's race at William's school in 1989. There were photos in the papers at the time. There was no set protocol or royal rules, just different parenting.

No protocol. Nothing says she couldn't do this 🙄

Charles was the first heir apparent to actually go to school. Until that point, the children in the immediate royal family were educated by nannies and tutors. Elizabeth was not the sort of parent who would run in any race, Philip might well do. But there was not rule against Diana doing it - probably because no one had even considered it as a possibility.

Sent to Gordonstoun and hated it, Philip wanted to toughen up the 'sensitive' Charles. Poor child... There was no rule and that is unlikely to do with anything about 'not considering it a possibility' as a lot of protocol exists for other reasons. Debretts: "It's wrapped up in history and tradition, but it's also practical, universal and there to avoid embarrassment". The only person objecting to Diana running was a royal staff member, and that was because she was wearing a skirt.
