Canada is truly a place of wonder. With its nature and kind-hearted people, among other things, there’s much to love about the country. However, as with any point on the globe, Canada is not exempt from being meme-ified. The main reason for this is the fact that Canada is globally subject to a wide variety of stereotypes, which range from wholesome to “very Canadian.”

Whilst the term “stereotype” can be associated with negativity, this list of memes celebrates the unique nature of Canadian culture and quirks. After all, the internet simply loves to have a laugh at Canada in the best of ways.

Here at Bored Panda, we have collected some popular memes about Canada. Scroll down to see them all, and if you enjoy this list, consider leaving a comment and upvoting the entries you like the most, eh?

How tall are you? I say I'm 5 foot 4 inches not 164cm although both are right. How far is it from me to bobs house is i would say 5km but i would not say 3 miles.

Brit living in Canada. We both love to mix imperial and metric. Canada is litres for petrol, pints for milk, fl oz for drinks. Driving distances in km but height in feet and inches. Buy meat by the pound and sugar by the kilo. Home away from home!

UK here - I went through school at a time they were ditching imperial so I only learned metric. It never quite worked out, you kind of have to know both in the UK.

Here's a Dad-joke: Next Thing, they're going to convert us to Metric Money! . . response is usually, Oh, Gosh, then Wait a minute....

We use both in the US too, by some surreal formula I can't decipher. Soda, for example, is sold in 12-ounce cans, but 1- and 2-liter bottles. Beer bottles and cans are measured in ounces, but wine and hard liquor are measured in milliliters. And cannabis is by the gram, until you get to 28 grams, whereupon it's an ounce. I really wish we'd switched back in the '70s.

Yeah we use both! It switched when I was in grade 5 so about 86/87. I'm 45 and cannot tell you what centimeters actually are. Sorry. Lol

10 mm = 1 cm, 100 cm = 1 m. So 1,000 millimeters = 1 meter and 100 centimeters equals 1 meter, and 1 meter = how far light travels in a vacuum in 1,299,792,458 seconds, which are, btw, not metric, nor arae minutes, hours, or days, but nobody complains about *that* being the convention in the US, so I give up. (FYI, yeah, you better believe I had to google that meter thing, LOL. I got curious!)

Actually the US system differs from the Imperial system in volume measurements.

Watching "Highway Thru Hell" filmed in BC I keep yelling at the TV, you use the metric system, why say miles, gallons, and inches? They never yell back, lol.

US system isn't metric (except in the sciences) but it isn't exactly imperial, either. For example, when I moved to Canada in the pre-metric early 1960s, I was introduced to the imperial pint, quart, imperial Gallon. 20 oz, 40 oz and 4 imperial quarts, respectively. In the US, where I grew up, pints are 16 oz, quarts are 32 oz, and the gallon is 4 32 oz quarts. Big difference!

We went through the change when I was in training for a nurse though some we knew -being a dumb Canadian I just purchased a calculator that converted either way no mistakes wanted here! But I think IMPERIAL sounds more Canadian!

It's weird, we're supposed to use metric, but does anyone I know other even know how many centimeters equals a foot? Nope

My dad's family had children for tax purposes and to "help on the farm". They moved away from the farm.... but my dad had kids to help with the leaves.

My father passed this job off on me as soon as I was old enough to handle it on my own. Diesels from the 80s needed plugging-in even in Chicago.
