Our bodies can be our best friends, or, well… sometimes it takes years of hard work and self-love to accept them for what they are. It’s no secret that sticking to your health and body goals can be nerve-wracking, and sometimes, one of the hardest things you go through in life.

So, this time, we’re looking at people who fought hard and harder, fell down and stood up, made it through tears and sweat, and the gloomy days where it all seemed impossible. Thanks to the subreddit Progress Pics where 1.5 million members have been sharing their incredible body transformations since 2011 when the group was created, we now know that every single thing is possible.

From losing an amount of weight equal to your second self, to beating an eating disorder and learning to have a healthy relationship with food, to… I am not crying, you are. Let’s just all give these unreal folks a great round of upvotes!

We always see pictures of people going the other way (heavy to thin). It's good to remember that this also occurs (especially for men/boys).

We really have to pay attention and find more ways to communicate about male mental health. That’s not even the hard part of showing and giving them the resources to heal.

Why do people say 'but you're so pretty!' I didn't say I was ugly. I said I was fat. Those two things are always seemingly interwoven in society's mind. They shouldn't be. Beauty comes from so many other places than a scale

Maybe because when people are happy or happier because they feel better they radiate their inner beauty more? Just a thought... I feel like when I see someone living their best life their happiness can be contagious and they seem more attractive some how?

    Great determination, you look great!

If you or your loved one has ever been through a weight loss journey, you should know how hard it can be. It takes time, the process is slow and not very rewarding, and you have to make some significant lifestyle changes that put you under even more pressure.

Finding something that motivates you is crucial because this is what will keep you going throughout the journey. One way is to list the reasons why you’d like to become healthier and tell yourself how it’s gonna change the way you feel. Maybe it’s a boost of self-esteem, a better mood, or being happy with what you see in the mirror.

On the other hand, it’s all about finding the right balance, whether it’s some healthy amount of exercise, a nutritious diet, or a good night’s sleep. Going into the extreme ends of these three can cause long-term damage and harm your body image, relationship with food, and the ways you perceive yourself.

Geez people Zero to judgey. First thing I saw/thought was the circle game. You look down and see it, you get slapped. Not sure why ppl have to be so quick to be negative and assume the worst in someone. He's done an awesome job losing the weight and should be congratulated, not automatically judged to be a racist.

I was overweight for the majority of my life from 10 until I was 39, not sure if all everyone that has lost weight would agree but one thing I always hated and still do is when people invalidate my hard work by saying "But you weren't big before" whatever you thought/think of me I wasn't happy, I worked my ass off (and still do) and now I am happy. Dont tell somebody who has lost weight, they didnt need to do it and they weren't big before its a shitty thing to say. Do say, well done, you look great, like this beautiful woman does.

I don't think anyone who says it realizes that it would offend you. I've always taken it as just BS and that they want to be on the positive side. Some I'd say actually do not look at us for our "size" but for the person we are and the idea that we are heavy isn't important to them. Have you ever had a friend that was not conventionally good looking? As your friendship grows do you notice? Is it an issue? Probably not, they are your friend and that's all that matters. I've heard the same thing for years too, it doesn't offend me at all. What I don't like is someone that says "keep it up, great work." Just say great work, thanks.

She is big in the first picture. She clearly carries it well and is sitting in a position that hides it. We have just become so used to seeing super morbidly obese people that we can't recognise what ordinary overweight looks like.

Not only have you done an amazing job losing weight, but I love your style. Those dresses are amazing! I love the yellow color best and they really suit you. Plus, omg POCKETS! And such a cute pixie cut. If you see this tell me where you got those dresses. You're adorable and an inspiration to work hard and value oneself.

Keep it up! You might want to consider perhaps visiting a beautician and having your top lip waxed too.

That was a bad dress all the way around. It would look bad on a runway model.
