50 Times People Tried Powerwashing Things And The Results Were So Satisfying, They Just Had To Share (New Pics)
A few years ago, I might've called my hobby of going through before-and-after power washing pics my guilty pleasure. But now? Not so much. I need a more accurate term; this seemingly mundane activity has become the king of the 'oddly satisfying' genre. A sort of internet culture mainstream, if you will.
I'd like Bored Panda to take some credit for it, after all, we've shown how much pleasure cleaning can bring numerous times (for example, here, here, and here). But this time, we're mostly just the middlemen, and the majority of the praise should go to this subreddit.
With that being said, we did scroll through its posts far and wide to select the very best this online community has to offer, and believe me, when you're talking about 1.135 million power washing aficionados, there's plenty of content to scour through. From forgotten benches to neglected patios, and old town squares, here are some of the best pictures we've found!

Power Washed Birds, Butterflies, And Flowers On A Dirty Driveways (By Dianna Wood)
I hate to call bs on this but I have power washed before, and the overspray and complete lack of ability to have this much control wouldn’t allow this much precision. How could she create such clean lines and such clear edges? I’m willing to hear how this is possible. :)
That Was A Big Old Job
Is anyone else getting the urge to get a power washer and go around town to wash things, just from these images?? The results are satisfying and amazing
For Bored Panda's earlier piece on this topic, my colleague Jonas spoke to Stephen, a man from Dublin who runs 'The Poerwash Man.'
He was kind enough to tell us all about his job.
"The worst gardens we deal with are gardens without drainage, as we use quite a lot of water and without drainage floods the whole area," he explained.
However, Stephen noted that they’ve overcome this problem by bringing in a new piece of equipment, so it’s no longer much of an issue. There are other challenges that power washers like Stephen face, though. Issues that garden owners can help overcome with a bit of foresight.

This is so cool! I cant even draw a hand or a face and then you have these amazingly skilled people out there.
I noticed that right away and thought how clever that was.

Agree. Weathered teak turns silver grey like in the pic. Some folks like the silver. I like the natural look. Teak is used in the south because it is insect and rot resistant.

After power washing, true colors really came out - and it's beautiful!
Could be that it's not in the US. Trends are not necesseraly identical all over the world.
Load More Replies...That's just amazing! I'm sure Mr Clean is so envious he power washed himself and discovered hair under his dirty scalp.
Edit: comment deleted because it makes no sense because of English grammar.
"Other issues we have with gardens are the ones with weeds that haven't been taken care of in a long time," the power washing expert shared with Bored Panda. "What we do in these situations is we use an eco-friendly weedkiller, let that go to work, then come back a few days later to power wash."
Stephen also said that business has been OK and the pandemic hasn't messed up things for him too much.
“For us, it's actually good that most people are at home and we can get to work with them being in the house,” he noted.

Wow! And we thought that the buildings were just gray. Would love to see a more brighter and more cheerful buildings the next time we visit. Keep it up!
The thing is, when building stuff, you have to appreciate the surroundings will have an effect on it. So if you build something as dull as that building, structurally wise, it will end up looking like a grey dull block of cement.
Load More Replies...Reminds me of the early 1980's when Paris undertook a scrubbing of all their public buildings.
The pressure washing industry began in the late 1920s, but back then consumer products were not even remotely in the conversation. It was all about starting a business and making a living. But almost 100 years later, in 2014, and you'll find them in about 15 percent of American home garages and workshops.
This change may have been accelerated by the 'Do-It-Yourself' movement when home renovation and improvement shows have created a continent of consumers eager to tackle 'DIY' projects.
In addition to knocking down walls, learning to install floor tiles, and a myriad of other projects, people are pressure washing their houses, decks, fences... For about $150, almost anyone can be the proud owner of a pressure washer from a big box store. Whether or not the machine can actually clean anything is another different story.
Cleaning And Oiling My Cedar Cladding. The Transformation Is Amazing
I'm a hobbyist woodworker. When you oil the wood for the first time and the colours immediately pop... That's such a great sight. I assume it's even better when it was dirty af beforehand, like the posts/pics here.
Load More Replies...Is a cladding like a shed or something? And the transformation is such a beautiful difference.
Cladding is the exterior panels attached to a shed or building.
Load More Replies...Oh that is gorgeous!!!! I'd love to have that. The wood is beautiful and it goes really well with the stone/brick wall to the left.
Yes, the new finish suits the stone so much more than the weathered look.

in this case i must say, grey is also very modern with wodden houses these days :-) before!
clad·ding /ˈkladiNG/ noun a covering or coating on a structure or material. "a range of roofing and cladding products"
Fun fact about cedar, he is not actually cleaning it, what is happening is a small layer of wood is being removed. Also the water penetrates, deep into the wood and could cause all sorts of problems, it can also get behind it an cause rot, mold or electrical issues.
Cleaning Up The Old Camper With A Magic Eraser
Ooh...did you follow up with sealant & wax? Magic erasers are dope, but essentially like wet sanding. (Apologies if you knew this already; don't want to come off as a know-it-all. Just want your work to last!)
Be cautious, peeps - magic erasers are abrasive, and it's specifically noted on the package that it's not intended for car paint work. The abrasion is very fine, not like sandpaper, but still important to know because if you take the shine off, it will be very hard to get it back. Doesn't look like it happened here in the pic but I don't want anyone to copy with their car and then get very sad.
Magic sponges are wonderful, but probably not eco. I mean, where do they go?
I’m wondering how many it took, just to get this much cleaned.

Whatever you do, don't set it on the ground. Be sure it's not on anything other than concrete, patio, etc. Otherwise, termites will eat it and you'll never know until you touch it one day and it crumbles! Happened to me. Learned my lesson too late. Loved that bench!

How fun would this job be? Way up in the air, just you and your bucket truck, pressure washing...
On/Off In About 3 Hours
My husband invested in a decent power washer, because our house has loads of pine trees, meaning loads of pine pollen, plus we live in an are that can be very humid and promote mold and mildew growth if you’re not careful. Therefore, our house and metal porch awning tend to accumulate that yellow-green pollen in every crevice, plus get a very dark greenish line of mold/mildew (not exactly sure which) and sometimes lichen too, between 12 and 24 inches above the ground line. The pollen is pretty consistent, but the mold/mildew and lichen are definitely much worse in wetter years than drier. Since he has to clean it every year, it made sense to get the equipment and do it himself.

You need to invest in a Rotating Surface Cleaner. If time is money, you could have bought several rotating cleaners by the time you finish this project with a spray tip.

Saved My Deck From Certain Death
Some of those planks look a bit rotten at the ends. I'm not sure power washing will make them last any longer.
But they could maybe just exchange those and save the rest. Although I'm not quite sure why the deck was facing "certain death" just because it was grimy? If it's not rotten, it's not necessary to "kill" it?

Very nice. I would love to make me a greenhouse, and have another garden. I had a huge garden in Washington state, excellent soil. South Texas you have got to put so much work into building up your soil before you can even plant most things.
