Not all days were made equal. You see, while sometimes everything falls according to plan, other days turn into 24-hour-long grueling benders that make you question why you even dared to get out of bed.

Blame it on bad luck, your daily horoscope, Mercury in retrograde, incantations, karma, or anything you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that misfortunes and fails do happen. Think of them as compulsory reality checks that remind us we are mere human beings with little to no control of greater things happening in this world. But philosophy aside, if we can’t change anything, at least we can have a good laugh at it.

Bored Panda has compiled this list of people having a worse day than you so you can feel slightly better today until your fail day comes, and when you’re done with this post, check out our previous features here, here and here with more failure.

At first I thought this person's partner was kicking him/her out, so I guess it could be worse (I'd be p****d though too if this happened to me)

It’s only human that things sometimes fall out of our hands. It feels like the world is against you for some unreasonable reason and to call it irritating would be a hefty understatement. But if we can’t change a bad day, we can always change the way we look at it. And here we’re going to need some help from a professional. So to find out more about resilience and the power of positivity, we spoke with Susan Petang, a certified divorce coach and the creator of “The Quiet Zone Coaching,” who teaches people how to stop feeling overwhelmed and start waking up happy in the morning again.

NanoArowanaTank Report

The first step towards building mental resilience is instead of viewing these unfortunate moments as "failures" or "misfortunes," view them as learning opportunities, Susan argues. She urges us to think of a couple of things: “What can we learn from this? How can we use this to become a better human being/worker/parent/partner?” and added that crucially, it's a matter of mindset.

It turns out that some people are more naturally resilient than others. “But it's because they learned to think positively at a young age,” Susan said. “Our attitude towards life - the good, the bad, and the ugly - is formed before we go to kindergarten. Positivity isn't about putting your head in the sand and singing 'lalalala' when bad things happen; it's actually just the knowledge that we'll be OK no matter what,” the life coach explained.

Someone broke into my car to steal a shitty factory stereo. If they'd asked, I'd have given it to them. They did leave me a screwdriver though, which was probably worth more than the stereo. LOL

So inconsiderate, I got lucky having a person get into my car, neatly picked the lock, only took change in the secret compartment, left anything of value behind. I always hope that person found a good home with a job and doesn’t have to do that anymore.

I wasn't so lucky. They stole a bunch of stupid things like a swiffer I had bought for work. They took a box of tampons but left 1 (which I guess was nice) and then dumped a can of soda into my radio

This is why I keep my car clean and always put stuff away everytime I leave it parked outside. I learned this the hard when my GF's phone was stolen in a busy grocery store parking lot. Wasn't even in the back of the lot....brazen.

1. They might see it if they're local. 2. It can be a way to feel better, to direct something at the thief even if you don't know they'll see it. 3. People relate by story telling so this lets the person tell others what happened. 4. It garners sympathy from passers-by and makes it less likely that someone will rip off the cardboard and steal something else.

Moving Across The Country In A Few Weeks, Invited My Friends To A Farewell BBQ. All Canceled Or Just Didn't Show

erokitel128 Report

According to Susan, positivity and resilience are very closely related. “Positivity is the understanding and belief that you'll be able to bounce back from anything; resilience is when you actually do it.”If your day is going against the plan and you feel like you could blow up anytime, Susan shared some very useful insights on how to put yourself together and get back on track.

“I teach my clients to use The Power Questions. It's a great way to interrupt the spiral of emotions when everything is hitting the fan!” They are as follows:

“How important is this, really? Don't make mountains out of molehills.

What is something positive and constructive I can do about this? Be solution-oriented instead of blame-oriented.

What emotions am I feeling right now? By identifying and labeling them, we shrink their power over us."
