When it feels like the world is against you, a few things can make it somewhat better. A bucket of choco chip ice cream is one, binge watching Community with your therapy dog is another. But the most potent antidote known to man is a bittersweet one, and it’s knowing that someone is having a day even more vile than you are.
Whether it’s a spilled coffee or “as luck would have it” moment, get ready for a barely legal therapy list down below as compiled by Bored Panda. Be sure to check out our previous posts with bad, worse, and 100% evil days here, here, and here and don’t forget to let us know how your day is going so far in the comment section.
Even if there’s no skip button for those 24-hour hell on earth benders, at least we can all have a laugh at them.

Door Was Jammed Form Inside So Phoned A Guy To Repair It. He Managed To Open It, Left His Tools Outside, Came Inside And Shut The Door. Now We're Both Stuck
Previously, Bored Panda reached out to Vasia Toxavidi, a counselor and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), to find out about ways of dealing with mishaps and developing psychological resilience.
According to Vasia, even the smallest mishaps like “throwing our morning coffee on us or even getting a text or an email we don’t like can affect the rest of our day.” A typical reaction is “Oh, great start to the day!” but according to the counselor, the negative bias can directly affect the course of events.
Scientists say that the reason we are all wired for ‘negatively biased’ thinking is because negative events and emotions have a greater impact in our brains than the positive ones. Even the smallest things that generate negative reactions can snowball into the forecast for the rest of the day, or even the week.
I Spilled 50,000 2mm Glass Beads On The Ground And I Now Have To Sort Them By Hand
When The Tiger Shark You're Photographing Swims Off With Your Camera Rig
According to Vasia, we end up creating a self-fulfilling prophecy because we look at the world through lenses triggered by anger, fear, or the expectation that something will go wrong. And in that sense, the reality is only how we perceive it.
So as humans, we tend to not only forecast things to go badly because of otherwise meaningless mishaps, we tend to fixate on virtually any negative moments. Whether it’s recalling insults better than praise, reacting more strongly to negative stimuli than to positive, thinking about negative things more frequently than positive, it all contributes to our behavior.
Just Lost Thousands Of Dollars Worth Of Product At Work. Most Likely Getting Fired
UPDATE: It's bell pepper, about $250 a kilo and we lost 20 kilos in total. What happened was I was discharging the product inside the container and I thought I was completely done because none was coming out. I undo all of the screws, lift it up, and a shit ton poor's out. It turned out that the valve closed due to the vibration of the pump motor and there was a lot of leftover. No one will see it, hopefully. Most of the employees only use Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
UPDATE: I didn't get fired! But I do have to go back to that order and make another 20 kilos which will be a long day. They were really understanding and forgave me for my mistake. Thank god I didn't lose my job!

This bias toward the negative leads you to pay much more attention to the bad things that happen, making them seem much more important than they really are.
It is thought that the negative bias comes from our ancestors who’d pay attention to bad, dangerous, and negative threats in the world. It was literally a matter of life and death. Those who were more attuned to danger had higher chances of survival.

Went Camping, Set A New Bug Bite Record
Can you imagine the bugs in the morning? "Man, last night was the best damn party...."
ALL those are worse than mosquito bites and last longer too.
Load More Replies...I freakin' hate camping. The point seems to be to take all the activities that you MUST do to get through the day, and make them take ALL day. I don't get it.
The absolute BEST thing about your comment is your first name!!!!!!!!!
Load More Replies...Whenever I get bit by a spider or mosquito I scar from it, so I almost never go out camping or hikes without WAY more bug repellant than what's probably healthy to use...I feel your pain
Probably Australia. On second thought, no...there he would have been eaten.
Load More Replies...Whatever you do, don't get into seed ticks. I made this mistake in October of 2022 and I still have scarring from the stupid itchy mother fúcking bites
FYI - if you have itchy bug bites, take an antihistamine like Claritin or Benadryl. The bumps and itching are an allergic reaction, and an antihistamine will help calm it down. hydrocortisone cream also helps. (I'm not a doctor, but a doctor did tell me these things).
The is the worst case of chiggers I’ve ever seen. Even on me, before I learned to pour sulphur dust down my pants and socks.
Once spent a miserable mosquito filled night cowering in my sleeping bag with the top pulled in. Shook out my bag in the morning, the inside was smeared with blood.
Ah camping. Let's go sleep on the ground near bears and cougars. Let's eat the awful food we brought with us. Let's sit around the campfire with nothing to do. Let's sleep in sleeping bags that hurt our hips and shoulders even if you have an air mattress. Let's be dirty and sweaty, sticky, and stinky all weekend. Let's get swarmed by horrible insects that suck our blood. Let's all sit together in the car on the way home Sunday with our legs stuck to the seats. Let's go back to work Monday feeling cranky and stressed. You couldn't PAY me $500 a day to go camping. Let's listen to the ass wipes in the next campsite either fight, sing, and drink all night.
Bugs: This guy's sweet. Blood tastes like vanilla... Ya'll gotta try this.
I had the same thing happen to me, camping in upstate NY near Kent Falls. Counted 200 bites per leg. Itched like a mother. Actually felt sick.
Ouch!! You must be made of sugar. Would a diet with more garlic help?!
Are you in Texas? These look like chigger bites? I was covered in them all over my back, stomach, and legs by riding a four wheel runner! Horrible pain!
Ohh that is really communicating with nature's nippers. Hope you had some anti itch..
Ouch! I, too, am a bug magnet. Or was. Not any more. Clove oil - applied to pressure points works wonders (and for me it's the ONY thing that does). You smell like a barber's shop but what the heck!
reminds me of camping outside barcelona many years ago - i was just like that, covered in bites, didnt sleep a wink, my bf in the same tent wasnt bitten at all!
Bugs don’t like my blood I never get bitten when all around me other people get bitten.
This happened to me when I slept in a hammock. Even with a bug net, they bit through the bottom
Puts the expression, “Don’t let the bed bugs bite” on a whole new level!
Mosquitoes love my blood and I've ended up like this a few times...
I had something like that happen to me, only worse. I was a boy scout in the late 50s, and my troop traveled to what was then called "Mt. McKinley Park". Little did I know that the mosquitos would be on the same order as those on the Arctic tundra. We had mosquitos in Cook Inlet/Anchorage, but nothing akin to what was up there. When the week trip was over, and we got back to Fort Richardson, I was admitted to the hospital because I was literally covered with drilling marks and infection all over my body. I have been allergic to mosquito bites ever since. The native people up there, before the White folks arrived, used to have an ultimate punishment for anyone committing capital crimes. The prisoner would be taken to a valley that was almost all muskeg(swamp/marsh), and told to head for the other end of the valley, and they would be free. Only problem was that there were millions, upon millions, of mosquitos, just dying for blood. The prisoner never came out of the trek alive
Oh and I used bug repellant before our hike. It didn't make a bit of difference. Go figure?!
Same here! On our honeymoon in Hawaii, the husband and I went hiking to a famous waterfall. I returned to the hotel room with over 80 bites. He had ZERO. Obviously, some of us are just too sweet to pass up 😉
She didnt beat me yet...... in mexico i have mosquito bite EVERYWHERE. Im not even kidding
One of my friends fell asleep under a tree one afternoon... woke up to find fire ants in places they had no business being in. We were just kids and she ended up in the hospital because of it.
Load More Replies...i have A- blood type and am mosquito favorite snack! whenever there's mosquitos they only ever come to me and everyone else is safe and sound!
Like allergies, don't get mosquitos bites either, I see some people suffering bad with them, this leg for example looks very itchy.
I'm with Fran Lebowitz on this one: "I don't want to get back to nature; I want to get back to the hotel."
Load More Replies...this basically happens to me every other day during the summer if I forget my bug spray. I get feasted upon.
my mom sent me and my sister to a girl scout camp when I was like 7, and when we came back home after a week in the forest, looked like I had chicken poxs , because I had so many bug bites.
Actually, I was just getting ready to ask where this was because I live and camp in Florida, and I've never gotten bit this bad! Neither has my boyfriend.
Load More Replies...Rub Plantain vulgaris or Plantain lanceolata leaves on bites - works right away- I use it on fire ant bites -but you would need a ton of leaves for all that!!
Had 121 chigger bites at one time many years ago. You have my utmost sympathy.
But that doesn’t mean that we cannot escape the negative bias trap. On the contrary, once you are aware this is how your brain works, you can make a conscious effort to stop it.
For example, a great start is cutting down on negative self-talk, which we all secretly are into. Instead of fixating on your past mistakes, consider what you have learned and ways to apply your newly acquired knowledge. In this way, you approach the same situation from a positive outlook.

Secondly, make sure you catch yourself drifting into negativity. At this moment, you may want to go for a walk, do other things that make you happy, and listen to your favorite song. In this way, newly established patterns will not let you fixate on negative emotions.

In a previous interview with Vasia Toxavidi, a counselor and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), we found out that psychological resilience is also key in dealing with negativity.
“Although there has been a debate whether resilience, mental and emotional, is innate or something that can be developed, for me, it’s an innate condition that all humans have but needs to be developed and modeled well for it to come to the surface," she explained.
“All humans are wired for survival, so resilience must be an innate trait for everyone for this to happen, but if it’s never developed, then it may not come out as a trait for someone."

She added that humor can help us reframe problems that we would otherwise interpret as "overwhelming and damaging." Not only that. Toxavidi told Bored Panda that humor can loosen you up, energize your thinking, help you take hardships less seriously, and manage disappointment better.
"Another important key to resilience is to be part of a community and have external support from family, friends and others. As humans, we’re social animals so without having a strong sense of belonging, we cannot thrive or be resilient," she concluded.
