We can all agree that usually, we work on the content to brighten up your day and to cheer you up at the time you need it, dear Pandas. However, this time, we would like to share with you some posts curated by the 'Awful Everything' community, which is dedicated to the not-so-entertaining side of life.

In fact, the members of this group are all about the most upsetting, unjust, and ridiculous facts from day-to-day life. Covering various topics, starting with the problems of today's society, the abuse of power by the police force, healthcare issues, or simply the overall degradation of today’s world, the subreddit aims to point out what doesn’t work or works as it's not supposed to and open a discussion about it.

This is not as clear cut as people think it is... it might not be fair (what is?), the employers will most likely never hire a disabled person if they will have to pay them the same and in a lot of cases a disabled person won't be as productive as an abled person. Its sad, but it is true

In everyday life, we often pay more attention to bad things and use strong words to describe them. But when it comes to good or just okay things, we tend to overlook them. Think about it: if you had a nice day at work but someone said something mean, what would you remember more—the good day or the hurtful comment?

This happens because our brains are wired to react more to bad stuff than to good stuff. It's like a built-in alarm system. Sometimes, people can use this to trick us, or we can use it to connect with others better.

Now compare her to the QUEEN of LOVE Dolly Parton! I am not a fan of her music, just of her as a decent person! Dolly is not a symbol of feminism at all, she does not try to be - BUT She is her own woman in everyway - and isn't that what it should be about?

I have loathed that woman since she was still in destiny's child. However, while i agree that's it depressing the number of people who don't realize just how poorly paid the people who make....pretty much everything they buy are....You can't overlook the fact that you're comparing a different economy, which you clearly no nothing about, to your own. The minimum wage in Sri Lanka, is 12,500 rupee's per month. Which translates to....$38.60. While the AVERAGE wage, is 27,000 rupees, or $83.37 per month. A living wage for a single person is 29,000 rupees per month, while a living wage for a family is 52,100 rupee's per month. The 48 hour work week, at $0.64 per hour, comes out to....$122.88 per month, which is 39,796.99 rupees. Is it enough to live in the US? Nope. But the reality is that in order to be part of the global 1% you only need to earn $30,000 a year. Most of the planet looks at the majority of Americans, the same way Americans look at the 1% within the US.

Yeah but most companies manufacturing aren’t paying living wages even for those country’s. But agreed, it’s widespread and really hard to find ethically made clothing.

I mean, I am no Beyonce fan, but Sri Lanka is not the US and you can't really compare jobs or wages. Minimum wage in Sri Lanka is equivalent to $0.23/hr. If she is paying $0.64 she is paying almost triple that. The average HOUSHOLD income in Sri Lanka is $1422 per year, or $0.68 per hour when figured on a normal American work week of 40hrs/week. You can bust on her for manufacturing in that part of the world and not using Ameican labor for her products if you want, but for where that factory is, she is actually paying pretty good.

I'd like more context on this, personally. Sixty-four cents of our money could be equal to $15 or $20 in Sri Lankan currency. Without more context on exchange rates, its really hard to judge fairly.

As of today (9/26/2023), 12,500 Sri Lankan Rupees equals $38.58 USD. So, to criticize Beyonce or any manufacturer in the area for only paying $.64 an hour is a bit misguided. At .64 per hour, times an 8-hour day, times a 5-day work week, times 4.5 weeks (The average month in weeks) they are making about $115 USD a month. So that is now three times the minimum wages for that country. The Anker Living Wage Reference Value for 2022 for urban Sri Lanka is LKR 84,231 (259.89 USD) per month. This is the estimated monthly cost of a basic but decent standard of living for a typical family in urban areas of Sri Lanka in 2022. So just as in the US, they can be making more than the minimum wage but still need to have two incomes. Of course, this doesn’t address the other many problems with labor practices in other countries. For information on the wages in the garment industry there go to: https://wageindicator.org/salary/minimum-wage/sri-lanka/2901-garments-manufacturing-trade

Yeah she should pay more attention to what happens in the factories and ensure ethical labor practices, but most of the clothes manufactured are done so in really terrible working conditions. I’m always looking for companies that pay fair wages, etc and there are not a lot.

I never understood the fascination and worship of Beyoncé. She's a narcissist and an exhibitionist. She's been taught this by her helicopter/stage mom since she was a child. There's nothing special about her music. Basic chord progressions that create easy to remember songs. Yuck.

I don't like Beyonce music and I know very little about her personally, beside her success as a recording artist. That said, I worked in manufacturing, which included trips to China, Taiwan, Honk Kong, etc. among other things I did was to do quality control on the factories. I very much doubt Beyonce set up a sweatshop in Sri Lanka and established the employee pay. It's likely that those making her clothing are sub-sub-sub-contractors. When I read these one-liners, I can't help think that their only purpose is to bad-mouth a successful black woman, otherwise they would also include, I don't know, Ivanka Trump or pretty much anyone having products made overseas. Would I prefer she paid local workers to make her wares? Sure, but likely she is only lending her name to the enterprise and has no say on how these products are produced.

But... is it worse than any other clothes from regular brands? Because if it's the same as stuff from H&M and so on, then it's kinda nonsensical to specifically attack her. Companies that don't preach female empowerment have just as much responsibility to not exploit people.

See the comment from iseefractals. Most people complaining don't have a clue, don't check or don't care where the stuff they buy is coming from either. Your fancy shirt, trainers, electronics? Made in China, India, or whatever developing country. You can not start paying workers making clothes $5 or more. It would absolutely skew and kill the local economy. The profit margins in between are an issue for sure. But on the other hand, people wouldn't buy her clothing range or any other one with a fancy logo, if a t-shirt cost only $10?

In short, it's important to remember that bad things often seem worse than they really are. While it's good to talk about problems, it's also important to focus on the good stuff. If you ever feel down, we're here to make you feel better.

What can be said that people don't already know? This is a historic tragedy unfolding live before our eyes. Entire towns and villages ground to dust because of another nation's greed. I feel for the normal Russian population that doesn't agree with the war but in the end, they will end up paying the bill, while those responsible for all the death and horrors will live comfortably on some island or in a private mantion with a small army of guards till the end of their days.
